I sold the DV, because for me it had to less resolution. On KZfaq you hear a little difference to the Frog, but hearing on my audio system, there is a big difference to the VdH. The Frog sounds with a few more resolution and bigger stage. No i run the Frog furthermore in the SME V, but the Origin Live Tonearm and DV cartridge are sold. At this place no is a Schroder CB arm and a Soundsmith MIMC. I love this combination!

Wow, these two cartridges sound very good to me, and I have to admit I can't hear any real difference between them ... considering the kind of high end equipment you use here (note : I love your system), for music reproduction AND for the recording (RME Fireface .. nice :) ), it may be my equipment's fault :) .. maybe that my Audioengine D1 DAC and my pair of Sennheiser HD25 are not good enough this time to hear everything properly :)

@Orangeaudio1
@Orangeaudio1 7 жыл бұрын
100Ohm an beiden, ja.

I had hoped this would allow one or the other to stand out. Sorry, to my ears, no discernable difference, and that's despite the two different tonearms used. PERHAPS that is why they sound so similar! Also, I wonder if the sound is going from the phonostage directly to the recording device/medium as the sound is so CLEAN and my Dynavector XX MK II (same model) on a Rega RP 10 doesn't sound nearly as good as this recording.
@Orangeaudio1

My computer speakers benefit from the VDH's extra top end, but the DV is the better choice for serious listening. Of course, throwing audiophile softballs at phono cartridges tells us very little. Play a Tombstone Columbia and then we'll really hear the better cartridge.

@@Orangeaudio1 I appreciate your comment, but I was actually describing something different than tonal balance. I was implying that the use of squeaky-clean audiophile approved LPs are "soft-balls", as LPs anybody can play. Real vintage LPs that were actually played by real people many moons ago are real tests. Playing the typical Dire Straits, "female vocals", and audiophile quality blues LPs do not tell anybody if a cartridge really has "the stuff".

Midnight Blue is always a winner. You almost have to wonder if 'ol Rudy didn't wasn't trying to make ear candy that day! Re. modern recordings, top end is only one issue. Digital reverb is a joke, and it's a band aide for 2nd rate recording engineers, and audiophiles with lousy systems. The fact that 90% of high end demos use digitally reverbed recordings is very sad. People who demo phono cartridges on recordings doused in digital reverb are hopeless. Thanks for choosing better LPs. When you can play a 1951 Heifetz 10" as quit and clean as a 180 gram jazz record then you know you've arrived
