Listening in headphones in the mix or with rhythm and lead together I could always tell it was the real amp cause the stereo image was wider. I don’t know why but once I noticed it, I could tell every time. Tonehub still sounded great though and if it was just a single track I doubt I’d be able to pick it out.

Hmm I suppose across different systems we will hear slight variations - but honestly I think the difference was pretty minimal overall! Pretty cool feature to have in ToneHub.

Really cool, they do sound very similar. There does seem to be a little bit more life in the low mids on the amp, compared to the tonehub version (which, funnily enough, is more noticeable through my phone speaker than through my monitors), but it's a very minor difference. No way you'd ever detect it without a direct A/B.

What I noticed between the amp tone vs tracer is that the amp tone sounds wider. I'm sure you can use a plugin to make it as wide as the amp tone. Within the context of the mix, it sounded fine whether or not you A/B the mixes. I'm listening to this on my studio monitors.

That’s interesting. I’m going to have to relisten and see if I can hear a difference in width. Honestly I think it’s pretty darn close though!

@@spinlightstudios It either sounds wider or the EQ curve between the two are just different from each other that made it sound wider or closer together. The characteristics are there.

*Distorted guitars* - amp had more low mids. But I preferred the ToneHub. *Clean guitars* - bigger difference here - amp had more sparkle. Liked the amp better. *Blind test* - I closed my eyes and got about 50% correct. *In the mix* - negligible difference - both sounded great. Love the clarity in your mixes, Rhys.

I thought the trace had a bit more frequency extension. It seemed to have more high and low end, while the amp tone sounded more bandpassed. I'm not saying that one or the other is better. It really just depends on the mix. Also, since you're probably going to EQ out some highs and lows either way, it might be a moot point. I also felt the trace sounded a bit less saturated.

Yeah that’s interesting! On my monitors I didn’t feel the difference was much at all between them. I pulled my evh tones up last night to write some riffs and it was sick haha
