I have and love the Stage! I also have a conventional pedalboard with the Tonex providing amp tones. It’s great! I wonder about the Kemper Player and trying it in my pedalboard because I love the Stage so much, but I am not convinced I really need to.

Totally agree. If you have a Kemper Stage there is absolutely no reason to get this. It would be a huge step back.

Exactly! I don't see why HW is so keen on building a pedal-board wich is a hassle compared to the stage. Yeah, a smaller kemper, so we can put 6 pedals next to it, and some power supply and finally a midi-controller! How cool is that? 😂

I sold my tonex for that exactly reason, no fx in one unit sometimes it's bad..

Plus the ToneX at least has a display on the unit. Having to memorize what's mapped to what in a live situation is ridiculous.

@@vedder10 That too. If you have a set in stone set list, and can just advance through rigs and banks sequentially. But, it would never work for me. Small gigs at Restaurants and Bars, where requests are regular (from a request list) and can be in any order.

The FX loop never really. made sense in the Kemper anyways because ithe loop wasn't placed between preamp and poweramp. it was always before or after the amp itself. So the only downside would be the power for most pedalboard users. I personally want to buy two to use in stereo and want to sell my profiler.

I’ve never been on a stage without a di box ready and waiting for me… or at least a snake or mixer within 5-10 feet, obviating the need for an xlr out.

I totally agree with your arguments, but from Kempers point of view, it would make no sense to implement all the features you mentioned. Why? Well then they would kill their own flagship units like the rack, toaster or stage. So they made a mini version, stripped down and to be honest, for a lot of people this unit is way more than they will ever need. Personally I love the unit, cause I'm using it 100% at home in my studio, no profiling required, no 2nd XLR, when recording I have time to choose my presets, etc.

The stage is the ultimate everything pack. I wanted the little player for rehearsals... but I makes no sense for me. Just too many limitations...

At first, I was like YES. Then I thought, there would have to be a snapshot of your Kemper on your computer that could be modifiable. Not sure the conflict that could exist when you reconnect, i visualize the fiasco that iTunes can be.

Here's the part I don't understand. You could literally sell those two units and get a Kemper Stage and have everything you need in one package.

@@quintinpace2627 Funny thing is I have a Kemper Stage, ToneX, Ritchie Kotzen Fly Rig, and Fender Tone Master Pro. I use the ToneX the most because of the combination of compact size, availability of amps on the free market, and great sound. Love the Tech 21 Fly Rig but at $359 it justifies paying a little more and just getting a ToneX. I haven't had the heart to sell any of the other units except I did sell the original Headrush Pedalboard and subsequently the Headrush Prime.

May I ask how (or for what purpose) you'd use the Helix and Tonemaster together, or even those 2 + this player? Im looking to buy a top-o-the-line modeler as a 1-for-all solution for home recording AND gigging. I haven't heard of people who use multiple of these together. Since you own multiple and apparently would (try to?) use them simulaniously, Im curious what you like, prefer or dislike about the TMP/KP/Helix compared to eachother. Like would u like to use kemper's amps, tmp drive and helix reverb..? Also I didnt know if it was even possible to chain these big modelers, sounds fun to try if you have them. I think the profile player limits this hypothetical chain as it doesnt have effects loop so I think it must be placed at the end of the chain? Personally thinking about either the Helix (LT) or Fractal FM9 to replace any amps/pedals for me. Helix seems the best priced product by far, but I feel only the Fractal products would 'last' at the highest level for years to come, given my belief that we'll get some new '2.0' modelers in 2024/2025 now most brands products are getting pretty old and are running out of DSP for new updates

Stage > Player for me as well. But on a board with your favorite effects, this would be a killer option for amp sounds, alongside Tone X and UA Ruby

The Stage is the best “all in one” option. The standard of Kemper’s effects makes it unnecessary to cart around effects pedals. Just add an expression pedal or two and you can’t go wrong.

Yep! That’s how I might set it up if I had all my other effects and tuner covered.

@@thesoozeTJ do you also know if the “noise gate” is considered as one of the two pre-amp effect slots? Or can you add twee effects pre-amp and still have a noise gate set?

I would definitely give it a go. It’s my #1 out of all the digital solutions, but Tone X is right behind it. Either one on a pedalboard with your favorite effects is amazing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I literally asked this of another favorable rev view from another channel. I just don't get how people are willing to accept this in 2023. This is like a 1990's device. A display is a must have, especially if your in a live situation, for a device that can easily get stepped on and you have no idea where your at with the settings.

It’s meant to be integrated with the effects on a pedalboard. Just the amp section. I could probably just use one amp profile for a whole show, while tap dancing with effects pedals.

@@vedder10 yes, if you are happy with the quality of ToneX profiles. I found them lacking a lot.

Yes - you just need to load effects the Player can load. If the profile you’re using already has them, then they’ll appear.

No effects on that…. If you need only amps and nothing else, it would be a great option.

@@thesoozeTJ But if you're going to use the ToneX on a pedalboard I think ToneX is a better choice. Seems like that's what most people are considering the Player for. Which in that case you should just get a Kemper Stage.

ToneX has better profiling than Kemper so a really good solution *IF* you have your FX sorted. Otherwise you would need something like the HX Stomp to pair with it and use all 6 slots for FX. But the ToneX + HX stomp is more expensive than the Player, but, the HX will have have those 2 extra slots, which may be vitally important. HX by itself gives you 5 slots as one of the slots is used for amps - but the Line 6 amps won't be a good as ToneX or Kemper.

FX loop was only added to the Head and Rack with a software update.

I personally disagree. The lack of screen means nothing to me. Imagine kemper gave it a little screen like the profiler head, people would complain it didn’t have a app functionality wouldn’t they ? This seems to be designed to have a device easily accessible in your pocket IF you need to edit things but how often are you editing things while your play ?

Yeah no, I also disagree with you saying Kemper "dropped the ball" with the profiler player; they were smart in bringing Kemper to a whole new demographic that will appreciate this. Me personally I'm sticking with my Stage, but this will be a great Kemper platform for a lot of people. You yourself said: "Kemper sound is Kemper sound which is the best in the business", and a lot of people will be able to incorporate the Kemper sound into their pedalboard/rig.

@@sk8erchris01619 exactlly, i've been patiently waiting for this player the moment i saw how good a kemper could actually be, i new i would never need a full profiler cause i dont have a bunch of amps i want to profile or would need to, im happy to buy 4-5 profiles of my favourite amps and be happy with those. this opens the doors to the kemper world for a LOT of new people

You don't see any limitations? Let's just start with a lack of a display? It would be nice to look down and see what you're currently running instead of having to memorize your mapped layout. We are talking about 2023 and no display. I just think that's a little odd.

Lack of display, meaning if you're at a gig or practice you will have no idea what's wrong (and it will go wrong at some point) and have to find a way to fix it (I don't own a mobile phone and never will) and that is a huge problem, lack of FX slots, inability to use patches created on it's big brother - without dicing it up to fit. And even worse *NO* FX loop!!!!!

@@vedder10 Most floor pedals DO NOT HAVE SCREENS .. once u get your favorite presets you're good to go. Why would anyone want to be playing with their settings at a gig ? It's a guitar pedal on steroids !!

@@dougyfresh2054 The previous comment sums it up. If you have any extensive experience performing at live gigs YOU WILL run issues with your equipment that requires tweaking, even during a song.

@@vedder10None of my amps and pedals got a screen, worked fine for 30 years. I rarely change rigs during a show anyway.

If you run a cioks dc7 you can get the crux as an extension and it should power the player just fine
