I’m 64 white dude from nyc/philly grew up on rock and r&b you name it.... I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like them.... they can rap... sing pop ... ballads ... dance ... they can kill it as solo artists... all of them... you could take four different vids and you would think they were different groups... and wait until you check out some live performances... epic... I once saw them do a 38 minute set on an award show...unbelievable.....oh and Kpop award shows are like no other ... they are more like concerts.... welcome to the rabbit hole man .... enjoy

ToneyReactions this is Lonn but please read this to understand their lyrics: the first part you got it wrong , it's well translated. Actually they put a explanation of what the first rapper was referring ( it said shi*ty background). People that don't lived in SK don't tend to understand and misinterpret what jhope ( the first rapper ) meant. He was referring what the Korean society said about people backgrounds , if you came from a good background ( family with money , have privilege, good mannered , connections, well behave citizen , etc ) you will have opportunities in life aka you will find sooner or later success, this people are called "silvers spoon" , meanwhile people with bad backgrounds ( came from poor family , bad mannered , went into jail , did ilegal stuff , don't have money , bad behave citizen , does bad in school , don't have connections, etc ) won't have opportunities in life , it doesn't matter how much they tried they will never be a silver spoon , they are called "dirty spoon ". BtS were called "dirty spoon" on their beginnings cuz they came from a small company that almost went bankrupt and have no connections in the media , so no exposure in Korean audience ( that's why they became popular in social media cuz they use them as their only platform to show themselves, that's why they got a lot of fans overseas and were known more overseas than in their own country , in their beginning) , groups that debut on those type of agencies don't make it , or not last long enough to even make it cuz their companies get into debts cuz they don't get money from sales since they don't tend to have much fans cuz they have low exposure. BtS has literally done a song about it called "silver spoon" or bapsade " ( that how you say dirty spoon in Korean) were they referenced them as that but it's more about the generation since the older generation in SK got more jobs that today generation cuz there is a lot of people in a small country. But in mic drop jhope references to that issue when the media called them dirty spoon , so here he said that he is a golden spoon ( like even better that those so called silver spoon ) and at the end he eat them all with his skills , meaning that what make him big are his skill not his background and even beat people with better backgrounds. BtS references to this A LOT in their songs specially after they were called like that. In the song Fire they said that people aren't spoons they are just people and they are just tying to live their lives ( that song is about the "freedom of the youth " with references from the SK system is with the younger people ( teens and young adults ). They talks about this cuz they got into the same issues and not one can say they were lazy at school that's why they criticized it cuz RM ( the leader ) was basically the best , he can literally study in the best universities what ever he wanted. But his passion were in music , in writing music that started with hip hop. Anyway I recommend to understand their background to watch "the rising of Bangtan " docuseries on KZfaq. It give you the context cuz again context on their lives makes you understand their music. It's literally their story.

If it's an official MV from Bangtantv or Hybe Labels then the lyrics are correct. You have to remember that some things translate a bit differently when you go from Korean to English. What the first rapper was saying is that many steaks aren't cooked properly but he will still be at star's dinners (ie fancy dinners or award dinners) eating them and haters can't. What the second rapper is saying is the slang "My Bad" like sorry you aren't good enough to get worldwide etc.

His family was against him pursuing a music career. But at one point when he made it quite big (not yet global but still get a full seats audience in Korea), his family came and watched him perform. He actually broke down in tears on the stage when he spotted his family in the crowd... Got me teared up as hell.

I’m so glad that you see how BTS is so much more than the standard boyband stereotype they are perceived to be! Many comparisons of them to boy bands in the past, like you said, aren’t comparable! For me personally the band I honestly relate BTS to the most would be Queen, because of their versatility of genre, blending of genre, connection with audience and fans, and their stage presence. The closeness of the members as friends/family only builds the band up more. Many people relate them to Beatles, and I think that’s accurate in the sense of how big they are which is just like how huge and big Beatles were, but I tend to relate BTS to Queen more than any other band.

One of the best parts of being ARMY is watching others get introduced to them and their minds BLOWN as their expectations get crushed about BTS or kpop in general cuz it's basically like every genre you can imagine, never just one. "Black Swan" is my absolute favorite but "Airplane Pt 2" has a sick latin vibe, "Idol" has a fun bollywood vibe, "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" is just next level, "Ddaeng" is epic, "ON" is wicked too! So many epic songs to share!

I’m a huge rap fan myself... grew up with Em, Pac, Big, TI, OutKast... list goes on! I’m 43 years old and found BTS this time last year and went down the ENTIRE rabbit hole!! They are UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED!! They make music in all genre’s and it’s all 🔥! You know what else I love about them, they all have solo projects on the side, so they can share their own unique music without stepping away from the group! It’s seems like here in the US when that 1 “star” in the group (Beyoncé, JT, MJ) got too big, they left the group! This group stays together and their label allows them to put out solo music as well! I think that’s genius! You gained a sub... I can’t wait to watch you on your journey to becoming Army! I’m truly an OT7, but my bias is Jimin, who I’m sure is the one you called a girl in the Dynamite vid... I’ll have to watch it! He is a phenomenal vocalist and an inspirational, incredible dancer! He reminds me of MJ a lot! They are all so amazing and more importantly, down to earth, regular people! But they stand for something... to be kind, don’t discriminate, follow your dreams, and above all... love yourself! I don’t know anyone who couldn’t get behind that! ✌🏼💜

Thank you so much for checking this one out - really glad you enjoyed it. There is nothing like BTS in music today, and taking the journey to get familiar with them and their music is 100% worth your time. Hope you enjoy, however you choose to go about it. I see tons of recommendations here, so I'll spare you, but I'm for sure looking forward to when you check out the rappers' solo work, as well as the songs by the whole rap-line. And whatever else you choose as well. BTS has so much great music. I really liked your take on the song. It is, in fact, a last farewell to their haters. I know lots of fans want them to write more Cyphers (and who knows what the future will bring), but I really love that they said this almost 4 years ago, and they've stuck to it. Their haters get no more of their time, or space in their heads. They seem to be moving on to addressing broader cultural issues. Their song 'UGH' speaks to the current climate online & in society toward destructive anger & rage. It's really a phenomenal song. Anyway. Thank you so much for taking the time to read so many of our comments after your last video. And thank you for giving BTS a chance. I hope you find the journey worthwhile. 💜

You're right, the fact that they make such versatile music is one reason many like them so much. You don't have to switch artist to listen to another kind of song, bts have songs for all your moods, sad songs, party songs, badass songs, dance songs, sexy songs, whatever. Also they make songs about important topics, like self love, school pressure, societal issues and more. And on top of that they're both amazing people who are kind and generous, and they're very funny to watch during interviews or when they play games or something. And on top of THAT they have an ongoing storyline in mvs and other material that started in 2015, where all the members have their own story, that tackles on mental health issues, abandonment, love, home abuse, trauma and more

You were correct that this was a mild diss track and a last word and a goodbye to their haters. they don't have a set genre at all, as was mentioned, they write songs about what they, and we and the world, might be feeling, then they produce it and we love it, it is one of the ways they connect with us. I'm 53, been a BTS fan since around 2015-2016, they haven't' reached their pinnacle yet, they just seem to keep growing, and it makes me proud to be an Army, check out a few of their videos, maybe a few videos about who they are and where they came from. @@ToneyReactions And to give you a little more perspective into that, “Butter” is Korean slang for “too white/too westernised”. In English we also have words like “cheesy/corny” I’ve heard it comes from the fact that westerners use a lot more grease on their food than in Asian cuisine For example when a Korean-American has bad pronounciation when speaking Korean, they’d say like “oh your pronounciation is so butter”. BTS has gotten criticism for their english single, people were saying they’d traded their Koreanness/ authenticity for fame in the global market (which makes no sense, as technically the album Dynamite is from, wasn’t even meant to be released, it was because of COVID.) So I’m definitely getting a sarcastic, f you vibe from the title “Butter”, as in “lmao we aint westernized, we just versatile”

@@ToneyReactions The subtitles in the official MV are correct, it's just some of it needs some explaining cause some words in Korean don't translate well in English. Especially cause their lyrics use a lot of wordplays. You can check out Doolset Bangtan if you need lyrics with context and explaination.

If you're a rap fan I'd suggest listening to the rappers solo projects, they have 5 mixtapes between them: RM, MONO, AGUST D, D-2 and Hope world

I felt your genuineness, army are insanely protective and want to get rid of any possible misunderstanding or misjudgment of the boys. They get hated on so much so we like to think we can protect them from prejudices of others. Albeit we can phrase our corrections nicer loll thanks for the reaction! I look forward to more! Advice: Also, since their songs ARE in Korean, we dont mind if you have to go back to reread the lyrics because the visuals are so great they can be distracting. army are constantly rewatching their videos because we can discover so much from them, so as a first reaction, you will miss a lot. but thats why we are here in the comments. But also there are a lot of their MVs that are best understood after also watching an explanation video, you'll know when you get to one. AND if you ever pull up a reference to english translated lyrics, I recommend staying AWAY from jaeguchi and lemoring. They always get members parts mixed up and poorly worded translations. ppl i do recommend lyrics from are BBTS9717 (on youtube) and doolset bangtan (on google). genius lyrics are fine too
