Tongue and Groove Ceiling Installation for a 10x12 shed

Күн бұрынThis 10x12 shed is getting a nice tongue and groove ceiling. We cut down the pine boards and nail them to the rafters using 2" finishing nails. Holes are cut into the boards to allow the lights to hang down. Stain and Polyurethane are applied for a nice finish.

Looking good! One tip to avoid the really skinny strip alone one edge, is to measure the coverage and trim the width of starter strip on the other side. This allows two slightly narrow strips on both edges instead of a really skinny strip on the one edge.

What about the visible seams between the boards as they stagger and dont cover the entire width of the ceiling?? Is anything usually done to cover, or are they usually left like that??

Why would you not use a pneumatic nailer or attach using screws?

We did not have a nailer. And screws would show.

Great job.. Is it safe to put the lamp close to the insulator?

Thank you. The LED lights should have very little heat. Should not be an issue.

We did add some trim. It was unpainted pine.

For this little building it was not that necessary. But for a home that might be worth doing.

which state are you? how well does the r-19 insulation work in dead of summer?

im in NC. R-19 is ok for a place like this. It would not pass for a home. The winter temps get down to 5 or 10 degrees at times but normally stay around 30. The summer only gets to 75 or 80 here. Not bad.
