Got to ask how anyone would know the tongue size of extinct animals with no remains found to say how big tongues were, or how would anyone know tongue size of fictional animals, unless mentioned somehow, no one would know.

Simple: we do know overall size of many extinct animals. Ye take today's living versions of that same specy and take it's tongue / overall body size ratio. Then apply that ratio to the overall size of the extinct version of that species category.

Indeed, like how would they know how big the tongues of extinct animals were, or how big the tongues of fictional beasts are. With fictional ones, concession could be made if tongue size was mentioned, but do they ever mention it?
