He went downhill when he left his trainer. The deal was trainer takes 10% of his earnings. In the beginning it was ok because the purse was small. But it became a problem after the purse got bigger. Naz wouldn't train act like at spoilt brat until ingle walked out on him. Then Antonio barrera schooled him. I knew naz will lose that fight because he didn't do his normal flip over the rope. He took the fight last minute he was still trying to cut weight a night before fight night.

1/4 I know their are lurkers...... The following is a list of Hamed's FW oppo: Steve Robinson (21-9) September 95 Said Lawal (17-1) Daniel Alicia (13-0) Manuel Medina (52-7) Daniel Molina (27-0) Tom Johnson (42-2) Billy Hardy (46-7) Juan Cabrera (24-2) Jose Badillo (20-1) Kevin Kelley (47-1) Wilfredo Vazquez (50-7) Wayne McCullough (22-1) Paul Ingle (21-0) Cesar Soto (54-7) Vuyani Bungu (37-2) Augie Sanchez (26-1) August 00 Hamed won his first World Title when he defeated Steve Robinson in Robinson's own back yard in 1995. Hamed made 15 straight defences winning the WBC and IBF Titles on the way. Hamed fought and beat Champs in their prime, and was forced into retirement, aged 27/28 because his hands were shot with a 36-1 record, having NEVER been stopped. Hamed's KO ratio is 84%, one of the highest in FW history. Hamed could bang!

2/4 For those who denegrate Hamed, because of his sole loss to Barrera, some perspective is needed. In his previous bout in August 00, Hamed had brutally KO'd a prime world-class, extremely heavy-handed, KO artist, Augie Sanchez, inside 4 rounds. Augie Sanchez was the last man to officially defeat Floyd Mayweather. Both Hamed and Sanchez ended up in the same Connecticut hospital. Sanchez was briefly in ICU, Hamed had his hand X-rayed. Hamed had a clear, clean break's in his right hand. Hamed had broken his metacarpel's for the first time in his career, but had known hand problems from generating insane power over the years. (Hamed broke at least two metacarpels in his right hand - I was mistaken!) The usual time for a broken metacarpel's to fully heal is 6 months. By this time, and 8 weeks out Hamed was 35lbs over the FW limit. The Hamed that Barrera fought was a shell (and
@nzrdb66 жыл бұрын
Zee Huss this can't be shouted loudly enough my friend. great post
@zeehuss82096 жыл бұрын
alex campbell Agree. Hamed broke his metacarpels in his right hand when he brutally KO'd Augie in the 4th. Here's the bout: m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pNKBac9k2tSYaIU.html Sanchez was 3rd choice. JMM was first, and he refused....he knew something bad was gonna happen. The late, great, legend Johnny Tapia was second, and had $1.5m in front of him. Both knew something bad was gonna happen. Augie Sanchez KO'd Mexican legend Jorge Paes and Philipino great Luisito Espinosa......and he was one of a few who officially beat Floyd. Barrera? Should have moved that bout to July/August 01, and IMO it would have been a v v different story. Hamed had exactly the same injury that Tommy received when he smashed that chopping right on Hagler's skull. I have a clipping from the LA Times: " Thomas Hearns' biggest bomb was apparently defused in the first round of Monday night's middleweight title fight against Marvelous Marvin Hagler when he broke his previously injured right hand. Hearns, who was stopped in the third round of the Las Vegas fight, apparently suffered the injury when he hit Hagler's head with a right uppercut early in the round. The punch stunned Hagler but apparently hurt Hearns even more. According to a statement by Bob Arum, promoter of the fight, Hearns was diagnosed in Detroit by Dr. Thomas Magnell as having metacarpal fractures of his ring and little fingers. Hearns had injured that same little finger three years ago, forcing postponement of a proposed fight with Hagler. Promoters later canceled the fight. Since then Hearns has not been the knockout puncher he had been as a welterweight. After winning 30 of his first 32 fights by knockout, earning the nickname of Hit Man with his fierce right hand, Hearns became more of a boxer. After losing his welterweight title to Sugar Ray Leonard in his only other loss, Hearns scored only four knockouts in his next eight fights-- mostly as a middleweight. However last year's successive knockouts of Roberto Duran and Fred Hutchings seemed to prove that the World Boxing Council super-welterweight champion's hand was healed and that he could knock down middleweights. Hearns will have his hand in a cast for six weeks and won't be allowed light punching for about eight weeks. At that time, according to Hearns' manager and trainer, Emanuel Steward, Hearns will prepare to defend his title against undefeated John Mugabi in November." Journo's wrong on the uppercut - defo Tommy's chopping right overhand in the 1st 20 seconds that staggered the legendary Hagler for the only time in his career. Even then, they did'nt know how long metacarpels would take to mend. Tommy was never out of shape, or the gym, still took 11 months before he came back to KO Shuler in the 1st, and move on in his illustrious career. Hamed came back to early, was completely goosed...and broke the same metacarpels that he broke 8 months previously. Hamed could no longer power-punch and his hands were shot. Hamed's brother effectively ended his career by not moving that bout.
@zeehuss82096 жыл бұрын
alex campbell have you looked at the stats? Hamed's punch stats against Barrera were 50% lower than his normal output! The only reason why I digged the stats out was because it may have been Merchant who said Hamed's "numbers were....DOWN!" He was right!

2 great boxers one of them the most naturally talented I've ever witnessed from these shores. The other got where he got to through hard work & determination then more work & determination on top. The thing about Bellew what was a bit frustrating he got better & better as he got older. In fact so much so his 1st 6 rounds against Usyk are the best 6 rounds I've ever seen anyone put up against Usyk. Proving how bad AJ was against him. I still can't get my head around AJ & anyone in his camp even just thinking he could have a boxing match with Usyk. To not use his biggest advantages his size & power & stand like a tin of milk getting his head jabbed off all night I honestly thought he was doing it on purpose. I put money where my mouth is as well & won. So called boxing experts suggesting AJ would win on points was just plain stupidity to me. I told my son if it goes the distance it means Usyk has jabbed AJ's head off. If the fight was finished in 4 or 5 AJ has probably KO'd him. To stand & let one of the most gifted technical boxers figure you out & just hit you whenever he felt like it, I don't know I can't put it into words whoever thought those tactics was getting paid for something he shouldn't be getting paid for. If AJ thought that himself he needs to leave the game plan to coaches because he hasn't got a clue about his massive flaws.
