@@SimonSkittleFace well he was a lot younger and was a LOT more famous a LOT younger. If you see him cameo in youtube videos now he seems like hes adjusted to his life and is quite normal. Also skateboarding really keeps you grounded and puts things in perspective. The best skateboarders in the world still get their asses handed to them every now and again and get humbled. Hollywood really fucks with your head tho, skateboarding is kinda the antithesis of hollywood.

@zendokai15274 жыл бұрын
@@shylohana6434 Could work... but Tony Hawk is pretty old now. I guess with that CGI they do to make you look younger, they could. His life seems pretty normal to me. A movie about him would probably only appeal to people who skate, which would probably not make so much money. Honestly, I wouldn't pay $7 at a movie theater to see a biography about Tony Hawk. I grew up with Tony Hawk. I know everything about him. I know his entire life story, and even if they made a movie about it, I'd still wait for the movie to be out online for FREE and stream it for FREE. soooooooo... Maybe in the distant future, after he's long dead and people forget, they will. But right now, I don't think they will. It's too anti-climatic. A legend really gets cemented into being a legend and the GOAT, after they die. Look at Ali. Before he died, everyone said Tyson vs Ali, but Tyson is the GOAT. After he died, Tyson himself transferred that title back to Ali. Everyone now considers ali the goat, not because he had the best boxing record, but because he was the O.G. The reason why being the O.G. is important is because if you took any boxer today and took them back in time, they'd probably lose to the champ. Simply because of less knowledge overall about the sport, which equates to less of everything else relevant to the sport. So if we took Tyson back in time to fight Ali, he would lose. Reason being, is Cus Di-mato wasn't born yet, therefore he didn't train Tyson, and Tyson's style of boxing wasn't even a "thing" back then. Boxing was a lot more RAW back in the day. There wasn't as much knowledge about techniques n all that as there is today. So taking all that into consideration, people like Tony Hawk or Ali, really are the greatest because they were the best, at the time, for what little technology and knowledge provided them, comparatively to today.

Shit Joe called him the "lance Armstrong of skating" meaning he feels the name Tony Hawk doesn't hold enough weight
@jacobjohnson9144 жыл бұрын
@@michael43567 Rogan was saying that Hawk was like Armstrong in that people who know very little about skateboarding/biking at least know Hawk/Armstrong. How could an underrated person be the face of their own sport? Sure skateboarding isn't as main stream as boxing or golf but saying Hawk is 'underrated' would not be the word I would use. I don't rate athletes across different sports, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Is Tupac underrated with respect to other genres? Possibly, but my point is that you've categorized someone into a bigger category that it just seems meaningless and frankly, pretentious.

Tony Hawk is honestly one of the fascinating people out there. He gets labeled by haters as a sell out, and those same people are the ones he paved the way for to make a living in skateboarding. And now it’s an Olympic sport.

I grew up around skateboarding and Tony hawk was always a household name to us, Even bigger when the games were released i still play pro skater 5 from time to time it brings me back to the good days where me and friends would get together and build our own half pipes / skate rails etc, We had a amazing time at one point we got the local council to get us planning permission on a plot of land near the football parks. We did everything from packing people's shopping in supermarkets to BBQ's and party get togethers as a small group of friends we raised £40,000 within 10 months towards the total cost of our skate park which 15 years on we see kids enjoy what we dreamed of which is a blessing, Tony hawk had and still has a huge influence on us all

"the Lance Armstrong of skating" is disrespectful to Tony. Not only cause Lance was a cheat but also because Tony has done more than enough for his name to be enough. He's not the" [insert legend] of skating", he's Tony Hawk

I feel like it was just Joe’s rough transition skills, that they were talking about Lance Armstrong right before this? 🤷🏽♂️

Also, Lance isn't the Tony of cycling. Lance is a legend in cycling, but not the legend that americans make him out to be. Forget about all the drugs, because they were all on it for decades. There are cyclists that eclipse him easily simply because there's much more in a cycling season than just the Tour de France.

Probably the most humble down to earth athlete at his level in the history of sports. Probably more love for his sport than any other athlete. Could you imagine another sport going under & the top athlete saying he is fine with it as long as he can still play everyday.
