It's not so much that Tony hired Ric Flair as much as the fact a few weeks ago he took shots at Vince and his allegations and WWE using Cena and Taker to pop a rating. Then he pulls this, it shows how much of a hypocrite he is. Flair can do good for AEW as a manager if he isn't in a drunk stupor. People also don't want to see him in the ring to have another match. This is the biggest worry because Tony is a big enough mark to let it happen. Hell, I won't be surprised of Tony brings in Hulk Hogan now.

No offense to your guest geekdom, but the reason most fans are upset with hiring of fix flair isn't because of his scandal. It's because Tony Kahn is a hypocrite and that the hiring of ric flair was a straw breaking a camels back in terms hiring old guys who have shaky pasts or add nothing to the product.
@Infernallycharged

I respect the fact that someone made the effort and financial commitment to start a wrestling company. Wrestling needs an alternative to WWE for multiple reasons. I get the feeling that Tony Kahn is someone who grew up a fan like many of us, however grew up as the son of a billionaire and is by default detached. He probably gets told things he wants to hear instead of the things he needs to hear. I hope AEW will one day be a legitimate alternative to WWE, but that day isn't today. Someone needs to be hired in AEW that can filter the fan in Tony and be allowed to run the company like it needs to be.

He deserves the backlash. He went after Vince for the allegations, and went ahead and hired Ric Flair. The difference here is how silent WWE and professional is being about this. HHH could easily tweet about this, mock it, and capitalize on it, and is not doing it. That speaks volumes of both leaders. It’s no wonder why Darby, and MJF are counting the days where they can legally have a sit down with HHH.

just because they are Legends and are high value that doesn't automatically mean it will help the company growth if they have no relevance in modern storytelling and feuds. Yes, you can have them as trainees or managers to mentor these young guys and cement them as stars. To act self righteous like you’ve never done messed up stuff is such an annoying stance to take. Generally, the people that do this kind of stuff have the most to hide. AEW is starting to realize that having fans like this guy are not good for business, that’s why you are seeing them walking away from catering to them. It doesn’t sell and at the end of the day it’s a business and it’s about money. If you want a wrestling business to carry out all your social justice values then create your own and stop bitching.

You're not wrong, but when you're TK and have gone out and called out Vince on his behavior, then you hire this guy, it is (at minimum) a really really bad look.

_"Acting like you've never done messed up stuff..."_ Actually, I've never sexually assaulted a woman. Hot take: I actually think sexual assault is a bad thing and I choose not to do it. Hope this helps.

I am a Ric Flair fan, I am not an AEW fan, you are probably his last option to swindle, and you fell for it

Was he convicted of it? Was he arrested for it? If the answer is no then get over it, it's an allegation and everyone's running with it. Rick has a very intelligent mind for the business and maybe I don't know could get Tony's business out of the crap hole. Even if he did do something you have to separate the art from the artist, he's one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and you can't deny that, just cuz he may have showed off his helicopter doesn't mean he's not got an intelligent mind for the business, elite wrestling fans are just a bunch of snowflakes who would rather let their feelings control their business instead of the dollar

This really proves that AEW's honeymoon period is indeed over, and Khan is again pandering to the wrong audience with this latest hire. Make no mistake, the only ones who applaud hiring a Ric Flair in his 70s are the hardliners, cause they are the ones who are completely fine with anything AEW does, as long as it flips WWE the middle finger. Khan's anti-WWE meltdown is also something I expect from these hardliner fans, considering how unhinged the tirades come off. It's a shame, really. I admit I do not like AEW cause of the hardliner fans I mentioned, but I can certainly respect how AEW took off as a promotion since its inception. However, if Khan wants these hardliners as his core customer base, he will be in for a rude awakening when he realizes at this base is not expanding. Considering all the money Khan has been doling out just to give WWE the middle finger, the proverbial pied piper may come knocking sooner than later, expecting to collect his payment. When that happens, we will see just how loyal these hardliners are (spoiler, they are not: they ditched Impact for AEW when the latter proved capable of standing toe to toe with WWE, they will leave once the next anti-WWE fad rolls in).

Not sure what’s funnier Tony being a hypocrite or the nerdy grown men who are upset at Flair in their precious AEW

Hypocritical for Tony Khan to black list Jay Briscoe for comments he made over 10 years ago and Jay tried to educate himself and make amends. Flair has never made amends. F AEW. In the beginning I watched AEW and bought PPV’s but I’m done after the way Punk was treated

@@JesusJuarezGutierrez depends on ones point of view. Punk was constantly having to fight the whisper campaign by the EVP’s and Dave Meltzer. Then for Tony Khan to say he felt his life was in danger??? Seriously??? That dude would probably feel his life was in danger if a strong gust of wind hit him. Tony Khan needs to go back to his parents basement and play with his wrestling dolls and let the adults run AEW before he completely destroys it!
