By the sounds of the interviews, the whole movie was an original take lol. They didn't even have a real script, the actors just got the basic gist of what was supposed to be happening and they freestyled it.

Tony said in Ironman 2 people won't be able to recreate his Arc Reactor until 10 years later. Ironman 2 events took place in 2011. So by 2021 most governments should be close to that level. And that just the original Mini Arc Reactor. The final version created in the end of IM2 is even more complicated.
