Yup same here. As a non american, what got me into the sport in 90s was the southern hospitality and the accents and culture. Now there is no southern culture left really. They have demonized and shat upon their core base (which is southern) in exchange for political correctness and global reach. Then not to mention the awful rules and championship format.... then this new car is awful in everyway from the looks to product it creates to the safety. There is a reason why many old fans rather watch old races for the 100th time... sundays just aint the same anymore and nascar is no longer a blue collar gentlemen sport. It is all young guys and very few of them had to pay their dues... I miss the days when an older gentlemen like morgan shepherd could win a race in his 50s while driving for a top team like wood bros. I miss nascar and the death of nascar is a sign of the death of the nation, its history, and its culture.

@@nedjarret5672 well said. They forgot their roots. They were good ole boys running moonshine, they were smugglers and outlaws. They became southern folk heros. They were outlaws to put food on the table. They were working class from all over the south, but also the Midwest and other blue collar regions. The Allan kulwickis huh? Not southern , but blue collar and hard working as they come. Not only have the forgotten their roots. They are ashamed of it. The modern product is boring. From the stupid stage racing, to the silver spoon brats, it's just plain boring. It is now, cars going in circles. The heros are gone. The guys a mechanic , or construction worker could relate too. The characters can never be replaced. The Earnhardt's, the smokey yunicks , the Jr Johnson's. Can't replace them.

I’ve been so vocal about this for years. If you pass both pre race and post race inspection, that’s it. Load your car up and head back to the shop. All these big fines and suspensions, to me, is just discouraging the next generation of owners in the sport

yea it is, it was just as irratating when they did whole routine slow mo judging in performance olympic sports like gymnastics ski ing and skating, the commentaters appalled the nit pickyness it added and the way deductions could be added up or taken, and they said this is not fair if they didn't see it once they can go back as necissary, or they way some laws have been openended for crimes commited sometimes a lifetime ago, or bad behavure people reformed or moved on from doing, its like make amends and move on dont ripe open old wounds, a part of justice is also healing

Same race team won the championship like 15 out of the last 30 years. RCH...You think that attracts new investors and team owners. There was a monopoly on winning. And it was about connections, and cheating and being in with the inspectors, and having a big team. Now it's fair even the smaller lesser known teams can compete now. More about the drivers and crews then about your parts connection and who you pay off.

@@demonkiller1104 if you understand anything about motorsports, it’s about gaining a competitive edge on your competitors. That’s what sports is man. This new car has been a flop. It’s good that it’s helped with costs, but the racing product sucks. I was at talladega last weekend for that race and it was literally 2 wide with very little shuffling or passing. The front few were the only ones doing any kind of passing. Even short tracks are shit races. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be rules but if you pass pre race and post race inspection, then that’s what should matter. It’s that way in any other form of racing. You are legal before the race and after so let it be that and head home when the race is done. Fining and suspending crew members for the tiniest damn things will definitely discourage new owners because if they want to try something new that literally will just give them a touch of performance boost, which is what you want to beat your competitors, then they will have no interest whatsoever in dealing with nascar. Why do you think there’s hardly any cars at the track anymore?

Herm and Smoke in the same video, what a day! Congratulations Tony. Understandable that you guys couldn't say exactly what you may have wanted to and that is a shame. What happened to freedom of speech in this country. Is NASCAR worried about the truth of things coming out? It seems that everyone involved in the racing circle, from teams/drivers, to the fans talking about situations that happen, there are no secrets. Is it about someone getting to pocket a couple of $100K of easy money? Does NASCAR have their head buried that far up their exhaust pipe? Any how, we still love racing. The inspection system they have now is definitely fine I understand they want a level playing field even I called for it at times but it's the penalties lately that are getting out of hand for very little, tiny things that don't even affect or benefit the cars performance at all. I don't have an issue with The Stages in the sport, but we all can agree they need to lose the cautions in between keep the race going like they did at COTA and with the other road courses they're going to do this with. - The Cars certainly still need work to get better on track for the drivers and the fans like more Horsepower is definitely needed when there's races where we see too much follow the leader and little passing for the lead and stuff, Lose the Shifting there's too much of that with this car save it for only restarts and for places like Pocono and Indy places like that. Another thing we want Victory Lane Interviews back not this Front Straightway stuff we get these days. - We also definitely need to get back to having Practice Sessions like we use to have even some of the drivers want that - They need to market their drivers, talent and sponsors too like they use to back in the day also that's another thing they've gotten away from in recent years

The big expansion in the 90s led to the construction of big ovals with steep banking. And, improved tires led to higher speeds. Then, there was the game changer. The crash where a car flew into the catch fence. Fortunately, the safety measures worked; otherwise, dozens would have been killed. This only demonstrated what everyone already knew. When a car over 230 mph leaves the ground, it takes flight. A 20ft catch fence won't be high enough. This then required restrictor plated and rules governing every scew on the car. And, penalties for every bump and rub.

betting has influenced sports more than we understand. Every critical call or no call in a Super Bowl, the NCAA Championship, NBA finals, and now even NASCAR raises all kinds of questions about the integrity of the officials involved.

Another thing that irritates me is NASCAR radio. Nobody there dares to say anything that might be construed as a negative against NASCAR. I get sick of Choc telling us how great everything is and"back in the day" there were far less drivers on the lead lap. That quite simply is because they give a lucky dog to someone at every yellow. Yellow flags at stage breaks. None of this does anything but to desigrate the racing itself. If you have to create the race, you need to take a very close look at the product. Fortunately, I like other forms of racing more than NASCAR and only watch it when it is convenient. I like sprints, midgets, Indy Car and of course F!. It is great to watch a race with no commercials like an F1 race. Also, why is NASCAR radio the only station on Sirius with commercials?

Thank you gentlemen enjoyed your input learned so much. The betting aspect Hmm… gave me something think about. Luv the “De BS” line lol Nascar I miss old school days driver educate and ethics mattered. Each team would look for ways to gain speed and safety the guidelines for passing inspection were so different. You were able change the cars somewhat now every car is identical if I wanted watch Indy I would. Maybe I’m just old either way the sport has changed and not for the better just how I feel. Find myself watching dirt races on Flo enjoying the hell out of it! Just missing the smell of that first hot lap. Thanks again

There was always people that freely spoke their mind. Rusty, Dale, Parsons, take your pick. Then there was Herm and Tony! Not only DID you guys say what you had to say but you did it with a stick in hand 😂 It's not that way in racing anymore, plus the government, news outlets, and social media are also censoring people. Sad days! I quit watching Nascar when they went to a common body the first time. I understand the cost savings aspect but there are other ways and also ways to make less funded teams able to compete. There are no brands to align yourself with just stickers on a body. Kenny, brother, I'm glad I found your stuff on KZfaq! It's a breath of fresh air by a great host! I'm a huge Rusty fan and also a fan of yours! That interview you did with Stapleton42 telling all the old stories was great! Tony is a racer's racer 🤘 I admire the time and effort you have spent racing in all forms. I was thrown for a loop when NHRA was announced! Never would I have seen that coming. As a local short track racer and supporter myself, racing in general will never go away but organizations can go away and nascar is not omitted from this. If Dale jr., Smoke, etc. decides to start another racing sanctioning body that can 100% compete against nascar then sign me up to participate since they both know what stock car racing should be about and should be run like. From 2010 to now, nascar has been another form of cancel culture to the fans, drivers, and the owners. Two can play that game and nascar is going to lose the war with the fans, drivers, and owners...look at what happened to Bud Light in whole

I was fortunate to grow up in a racing family. Got a chance to race dirt for a few years. Still enjoy watching dirt racing. Nascar came to AZ was fortunate enough to see the first race here. Been watching Nascar since then. Last few years Nascar has become another sport not to watch. Got better things to do than watch some boring corporate run dog and pony show. The different personalities is what made it fun to watch in person or TV. Now they can't speak their mind or they get their hand smacked. Let's get back to racing and stop the bs. Let the drivers speak their minds. Until they pull their respective heads out of their asses I will continue to find better things to do.

Kenny - you have the best interviews out there, man. Keep up the good work. I love it when you put in little asterisk comments like "people in the south call their dads daddy". We need to continue to inform the current audience of young and old about the past in today's term - if that makes sense. Thank you and Smoke. NASCAR screwed up when they decided to have homogenous cars for all teams. I want to watch a race where there has boundaries and guidelines that 3, 4, or 5 manufacturers (for me ideally American manufacturers, but even then they are not "built in America"), compete. I don't want a Ford and Chevrolet competing that just have a blue oval and a bowtie painted on or wrapped. I want a Mustang to be a Mustang and Camaro to be a Camaro competing. I want a stock car to be a stock car.

Well, we have always known this thing with NASCAR has been going on forever, but now, its all way over the top, and like Tony said, it is so transparent what they do it is beyond ridiculous. This is why a lot of the fans are going away, besides a lot of other issues, which are namely the state of the "product" we currently are seeing. I get why owners asked for what we now have, but that is a double edge sword. In many cases it has created some pretty bad racing in a lot of cases. It also creates a lot of frustrated drivers that loose their nugget out there a lot of times and we end up with high dollar bumper cars. Pair that up with bad decisions by nascar during races, and the whole Judge Dredd "i am the law" BS they pull with penalties , it's become a shit show, and it's sad. I guess nascar thinks a lot of us fans out here just fell off the turnip truck and can't see things for what they really are. That's what pisses me off the most, insulting our intelligence isn't the way to keep and /or expand your fan base. I try to ignore that drama, and just enjoy good racing. But that isn't what we have right now. The "product" just isn't that fun to watch anymore like it used to be. I shouldn't have to try so hard to love what was once so natural to me to love. I find myself you tubing around and watching lots of "lower tier" racing, dirt, etc from all over the country. Why? it's a much better "product" and more enjoyable to watch for me. No stupid penalties, no rule changes constantly, no stupid endless drama every week on who got their pee pee smacked this week by the mother ship that is more often than not for political reasons than anything else. If you find yourself having to try so hard to love someone or something that was once a natural thing for you, it means it just isn't working out anymore for you and its time to kick that bitch to the curb and move on. I think that's what a lot of fans have been doing in recent years due to the current state of the "product", and all the BS drama created by the mother ships bad and ugly moves. Sad as hell.

Couldn't agree with you more. Other reasons my interest has diminished : These are not stock cars by any stretch of the imagination. The races used to be endurance races for cars and drivers. The new cars may be what's good for the owners but not for the race fans. Boring. I'm not sure who the audience is that NASCAR is aiming for but it's becoming clear to me that it's not me. I do have to say I like the road races

He’s right, just a few months ago Kevin, Denny and even Chase at some point were talking about how dangerous these cars were and you were hearing about how bad the impact is and the flaws the car had. Now they just they have to take time away from the wheel and it’s never discussed in detail as to WHY. Everyone just seems to have forgotten Kurt Busch having to walk away because of it and it’s no longer a talking point….. If NASCAR wants to pull a NFL and sweep this under the rug they will have a GIANT lawsuit on their hands at some point.

One more comment but it ties back too my last one is this. Nascar was built on cheating the cars as much as you could and people are shocked that teams still get caught doing that. It's something that was fundamental to the culture and how it worked. Even if they design a car that is the "same" across the 3 brands you will still have teams trying to push the boundary and its not their fault. Its in the DNA of the sport and thats just not something thats gonna go away easily.
