I just recently "discovered" Bobby Darin and he indeed did a great version of this. Love the modulations. The "up a major third" seems to be a pattern I'm drawn to in many of the tunes in my regular playlist. Something about it seems to speak to me. Thanks for the reharm ideas, Tony.

Hmm key changes are up thirds .... down a sixth is pretty much like hotel california I think giving that chromatic line that way with the right inversion root 3rd to root etc same pattern

La mer is not simple tune not for beginners because in the middle it change tone I mean key

The English lyrics are beyond bad and have nothing of the original ideas and feelings of the French version.

@@charlesvanderhoog7056 Dear Charles, I am afraid that there is a misunderstanding here. I completely agreed with you in my text (did you read it?). Being a French citizen - hence perfectly fluent in this language ;-), I am fully aware of the beautiful lyrics of 'La mer'. However, poetry is not like music. It requires translation, and even if it is faithful to the original text (which is not the case here), there is always something lost. Regards, Jean
