Sad to hear ppl made him feel he needed to be someone else to succeed. I think what makes Stan special (apart from his obviously amazing voice) is his personality and who he is. I'm pretty sure those record label guys have no idea how things are changing. The whole social media thing and KZfaq proves ppl want to see more "real" ppl. More ppl watch KZfaq instead of regular tv now to see regular ppl not whitewashed cookie cutter ideals. I think shows like Idol and The Voice started it. The idea of seeing more real talented ppl instead of fake unrealistic pop singers that are all the same.

Can we not assume that it’s probably from a pākehā please! This is how we start race wars between our people. Let’s just leave the assumptions and enjoy Stans kōrero. Be humble and forget about the amount of dislikes, people nowadays are too concerned about things that aren’t necessarily worth stressing over.

Not gonna dismiss what he's saying but isn't it weird that he blames his grandiose pop persona on whitey. I swear 6 months ago he was playing the spirituality driven 'we are one' projection, and now it's all Maoridom from a guy who barely spoke a peep to it before. Can't blame a narcissist for its attempt at relevance I guess.
