Too many Wonderkids? (Saving Your Saves)

Күн бұрынThere are a couple of things that always present themselves in saving saves. FM issues with tactics that lead to underperformance, terrible finances, terrible teams, bad scouting, bad players, and tough dynamics. But, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a situation like the one I used for the title here. What happens when you’re good at the game, but getting unlucky? How do you take the fact that you have succeeded a lot in the past and turn it into reliable success so you aren’t worried enough to send a save file to me?
I got u. That should probably be the title of this series, honestly. I always enjoy going through these saves because I learn a little bit about the game every time I dive into it. Football Manager is unique in that every situation you ever find yourself in is different than the last one. The tactic and attribute combo you’re using is never exactly the same, even match to match. No two wonderkids are alike. This is also good because I will be able to make SYS episodes until the end of time. So, strap in, because I’ll be making these from my rocking chair.

Yeah, fm is realistic, except for tactics, they are broken Outside of gegenpress any other effective tactic will stop working after 4-5 months. Not to mention a lot of realistic tactics barely work. Parking the bus is usually a effective and realistic tactic, but on FM its complete dogsh*t I once used the FM editor put a manager who had park the bus as his favorite tactic into the game, he had only 20's as his rating And no matter what he did, every team he joined DECLINED when he joined

My biggest problem in FM is that I never sell wonderkids even if they don’t fit. I’ve always added the occasional buy-back clause in case they get good.

Thanks Z for Saving my Save! Just won the Europa League with my Rostock team in 2028 with basically the same tactic, just an improved team (like you recommended). Came in 4th in the league, but with 15 pts between myself and 5th place, so I'm definitely at the top tier of German teams now.

Zealand, contact Kev (Lollujo) and ask him if you could analyze his team/system/instructions in his current Holme FC save. Personal opinion: his save (mainly due to Kevs stubbornness, extremely bad tactical decisions and transfer policies) became the most frustrating thing to watch in FM KZfaq history. Would like to see a video on that. Thanks in advance.

It's the case for most people asking for help in life though: they don't actually do the work necessary and wonder why they don't have stellar results... If watching Zealand taught me anything in FM (and life) is if you thoroughly do the work the results will materialize.

Zealand, I wanted to thank you for your advice about where to send scouts. I'm managing Ipswich, got into the prem and within 7 season have qualified for the Champions League. I've signed several Columbian and Argentinian wonderkids that my scouts found. I signed 1 columbine for 2.5 and sold hom for 57 million English pounds. My latest sale was my Captain and Star player, Regen Diego Mattea. Signed for 8.75 and sold to Athletico Madrid for wait for it.........£144 million! Thanks very much!

12:21 - for an idea of the levels of players, I had Tanganga and Oddei at Dundalk in a similar year... Tanganga, though has antiquate attributes for a wide defender, he was far more accomplished at centre back

Hey Zealand. Could you make a video about what the expected range of attributes should be on your wonderskids based on their age? With that I mean: If you say get a brazilian wonderkid that is 18 years old, what should his stats look like compared to say a 22 year old brazilian wonderkid? What is the expected level your wonderkids should be at, at what age?

It depends a lot on 4 hidden attributes: professionalism, consistency, injury prone and big matches. Also game time. A wonderkid with those attributes on the high would be maxed out by the age of 22

Wonderkid is simply a media description for how good they perceive the player to be at a young age. The best players in the world can increase say 5+ in each attributes. I’d focus more on how good they are based on their age and what a good scout says their potential is. If you see they seem to have a long way to go and their not super young then likely they won’t reach that potential. May just take more experience in playing the game. Every player is different and attributes are different based on position.

Realizing how unbalanced the FM21 engine is in regards to tactics kinda ruined the game for me. Low block is extremely disgustingly unrealistically bad, counterpress is overpowered. Lida 4132 seems to be miles better than any other tactic in game, no matter which players you have. Even if your players cant really play their positions in the 4132 it is so much better than meticulously crafting a specific tactic to fit your players. In my save i took over Norwich at 20th and got them to 14 same season and then 7th after one season with 0 purchases. Fiorentina from 19th to fifth in half a season without any new players either. Shadow strikers seem to have much more intelligent movement in regards to coming deep, finding channels and running in behind. Also wish they kinda had something else than just rep and EL/CL qual to make players come to smaller clubs, something like manager hype or known great development among players there last season, people wouldnt join my 7th place Norwich team that was filled with youth and shredding teams like city, like what?

I’m the opposite. Finally won the prem in my 6th season (4 point difference despite being way ahead at Christmas) after years of bottling it but won 3 champions leagues in a row

@@danlewis5977 might be due to the overall quality of the prem compared to the bundesliga (and even the champions league), but fm is always super strange ^^ I also won the conference league and Europa league in the progress of messing up my champions league record, so that's at least something haha

I am still playing fm 2020, i feel like my scouts are returning so few players even with 15-20 adaptability and not super specific or difficult assignments in my Andorra FC game. Almost feels like a bug, is there a way to fix it?

What is the potential ability they are looking for? If your team is great you should be looking for good potential / 3 stars. Likely you are asking your scouts to only find world class potential players hence the few reports

It’s harder in England because of work permits, but it works if you have a loan farm for EU nationality

I can related to guy managing Rostock in Bundesliga. I have a $22Mil deficit. I can understand why your budget is what it is and the reason for the transfers you've made. But if you're scouting that much; please follow it up. The least that could happen is that you get a great player for the money you have.

i am very confused. my watford save on fm20 has everything below average on team reports but ive been unbeaten for 1 and 3/4 premier league seasons. i'm now in my 3rd season at watford. ive won: FA cupx2 premier league x1 champions league x1 super cup x1 carabao cup x2 club world championship x1

A good striker has high levels of composure and strength. It's something Zealand showed in one of his experiment videos. BUT still I've seen him downplaying players with 10-13 finishing lol

Finishing is just one attribute of many that contribute to goal scoring.. like all attributes they can be important. Strength pace accel composure dribbling first touch technique and like 10 others help players score goals.. not just finishing. You can try to focus training it to improve it a bit but likely there’s something better for that player to train, or if old enough work on a trait.

I find it really hard to understand when Zealand says a player is good enough or not. Like I see a lot of green numbers, even in the stats relevant for that position and then he says the guy isnt good enough?

It's about potential. The players with 3-4.5 stars on this save are NOT GREAT because that 4 stars is in comparison to the other players on the same team (not the league or world). Wiring the world and scouting popular regions for hot prospects will find some super studs with actual insane stats

@@ShinySwalot It's quantified as relative to your opponents/league. You need to be very aware of what level of players your league has in terms of bottom teams, mid table teams and top teams. A player might be great for a team trying to avoid relegation but a bench warmer in a top team. Study others teams long enough and you'll get an intuitive sense on what level is good enough for which objective.

It's genuinely really easy to get up from L1/L2 to the prem in successive seasons. Staying there first year is hard once the money hits properly its increasingly easy.

In my AC MIlan save i have consistently lost over 100 million For a couple years but i always mange to sell my young players and last year i generated about 550 million from player sales

Your tactics are just poor and prob have players who don't fit. I play symple 4321 and works mostly. I don't want to trick the game. By making a unrealistic tactic and winning everything.
