In this clip, Too Short recounts the infamous incident back in 2012 when he tried to run from the cops, but instead, he tripped and fell down on camera. This eventually led to a DUI and drug possession charge. He talks about the court trial that followed, his legal battle with the DA over the legitimacy of his community service, and what it was like to be a celebrity at the LA County Jail. He also talks about being locked up during the same time that Suge Knight was incarcerated.

I spent some time in la county jail and it wasnt fun. Quite a few gangs in there. I wasnt a gang member but also made sure I stayed out of everyone's business and didn't come across as wimpy or an easy target and went pretty smooth. Nobody messed with me and the amount of respect I showed to others, that's the amount they showed to me. I didn't have beef with anyone and made some friends while in there.

I know some jails are worse then others, Jail in general sucks going to Jail or in & out of jail is not living life. Anyone who thinks or says otherwise is instatutionalized

I got arrested in Phoenix and just before the cops walked up on my car I swallowed a pretty powerful pain killer so I didn't get caught with it. I was fucked up in the holding cell, puking and everything. I fell asleep on the concrete bench along the wall and the cell was packed with people, way overcrowded and everyone is trying to sleep, it was late at night. I rolled off the bench in my sleep and landed right on top of a dude that looked a lot like suge knight while he was sleeping. My forehead hit him right in the face and he jumped up super mad and about to kill me. I was too fucked up to even try to fight back. Luckily other people in the cell helped me out and calmed him down or I would have got it bad.

Todd has always been a stand up guy. We were never personal friends but industry acquaintances. I worked with every oakland rapper 80’s & 90’s at one time or another. When his name would come up police would panic club and venue owners would panic. He personally was never ever a problem always cordial and polite. But his entourage was out of control each and every time. He would walk in with a select crew and whisper to me I don’t know those MF’s behind me. Our deal was always if they are behind me don’t let they’re asses in and he would never look back.

I frowned at him saying she told him to say to the judge you don't have it. That's lying to the Court. Now if she said don't offer it, different story. Beyond that, as his lawyer, I would be thinking, if we loose, this is not only a probation violation but possibly worse, and whatever the underlying sentence on the DWI is, could be activated, and you will have to do day for day. So the real question (again, if I am his lawyer) is, how strong are our proofs? I know you (Short) are going to say its legit, but really? And I bet his lawyer was also thinking, I told you how to do the community service so it would be beyond reproach, but you didn't listen to me. Do it with disinterested third parties for example. Now, on the other hand, if you do it with a cat you know who does gang intervention or community outreach, its not that the c/s is illegitimate, but what if we have to prove it?

I'll never forget telling my court appointed lawyer that I had proof I wasn't even in the same town the night this robbery was committed. Real video evidence plus my clock in sheet to say that I was at work over 9 hours away. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "that won't work they'll just keep changing the charge and rewording it until they find something you are guilty of and just hit you with the maximum on that." Wich is exactly what they did. Well if he knew what they would do... why didn't he try and help me??? Makes me sick. I really have a hatred towards the "justice system" if you wanna even call it that anymore. Now it's just an opportunity for college ball rejects to take out their anger on people.

If you are, I still remember Cochran saying "when we found out about the tape (Furhman) we went to NC and got those tapes." I remember thinking, yeah, you had a rich client who could pay for the air fare and the hotel rooms, etc. If I have a poor client under the same circumstances, I'm thinking, how we gonna get there? Last minute air fare and hotel rooms may cost say $5K. Where we gonna get the bread. We can ask the court, but we got to wait to get into court, and we gonna alert the other side too.....

Does anyone remember that old 'Jail' TV show where they go inside county jails and prisons around the US and interview the inmates and show their everyday life. There was one episode like 7+ years ago where Too Short was in the jail when they came in. It showed him hanging out in the pod, freestyling and rapping with other inmates, eating with other inmates, etc. I've tried to find clips of it online, but they're nowhere to be found.

As soon as the judge says 90 days I would immediately say to the judge your honor I do have my paperwork, the DA told me to say otherwise or they would railroad me with a bunch of bullshit. Or even better tell your lawyer you would like to go up and talk to the judge privately and tell him the whole thing.

@@alonzosmith485 thank you bro! No one seems to get that. Everyone is believing he got sentenced like he was wrongfully convicted. He points out there 2 other instances in which she can prove the paperwork is not legit. Fraud on your probation would equal prison. They agreed with the DA that it was better to not bring that up (because something is not legit). Short is just not going to open himself to more legal scrutiny by saying yeah I committed fraud on my probation. He’s hoping that most ppl can read between the lines. The DA tried to follow through w the deal and request 30 but everyone was surprised that day with a grumpy ass judge. Can you imagine what that grumpy ass judge would have given him for defrauding the courts? It could’ve been worse.
