In 2008, A young 14 year old Ana Matias lost her life when she was left in the care of man who called himself her father. Why was she left in his care after he tried to end her life once already? Rest in Peace Ana Matias. You aren't forgotten. My deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.
I ask that with any comments made, you just keep it respectful and keep this family in mind.
Note: Other sources have mentioned Ana Matias being born on March 17th, 1993. This has not be verified yet. Sources often have conflicting information and family couldn't be reached for comment at the time this video was created.

I knew her. We grew up together. My mom helped move their family to Pennsylvania.. we all lived in the shelter on henwood place. We moved to PA and my mom and her mom were friends. We went to school together. She then went down to the Bronx and this happened. She was my first experience of losing someone so tragic and it has remained with me throughout my whole life. She didn’t deserve this. I miss her and love her. I’m still in connection with her brothers.

Im very sorry for your loss. Stories are like this are cautionary tales. The red flags that people often see but don't know what they are yet until its too late. My goal in telling Anas story was to raise that awareness and keep her name alive because the blame falls on a system that thinks it was okay to be careless with the decisions they made. My heart and condolences truly go out to her mother and brothers. I know how hard it must be to come across this but you'll notice a common theme on this channel is that I always try my best to connect with families. It comes from only the best place. Thank you for your comment. I'm very sorry for your loss. I know how hard that can be.

This unfortunately happens more times then people think. I was S/A by my dad when I was 15 and although I wasn't pregnant I still had to endure the test for infections and diseases and pregnancy. I had to go to group therapy and was in there with girls younger and older than me trying to learn to live with the CRAP that their brothers, uncles, dad's, their dad friends or strangers had put them through. It's just sick.

All of us normal non molesting adults, there should be at least one in every family - just take the extra time to tell your younger family members that they can confide in you. All they need is just one person. ONE PERSON!!! An uncle, a brother, an Aunt, sister - be that one person and things like this happening will take place less. Of course, YOU need to follow through on such information to the proper authorities and keep your cool.

This is one of the reasons so many girls are promiscuous, dads , uncles, siblings and some step-dads were the first to teach those girls to please men, then eventually the girls start to choose who they will role play with. My brother told me he just saw girls as vag***, but he came across 1 or 2 whose, whose fathers/ stepfather were very protective and were also sleeping with the girls, and it made him see them differently.

He choked the life out of his own daughter because she was talking to a boy? That's not protective dad. That's a monster who was abusing his daughter and was 'jealous' she had a boyfriend. He is the type to beat his wife everyday too then kill her if she tried to leave. He probably was mentally ill but he was sick purely evil. He didn't just want to punish his poor wife, he wanted to kill his daughter because he'd been abusing her way before that to the point where she got pregnant. He was a monster who abused his own family, his own flesh and blood. No one protected her. Maybe they didn't know what he was doing apart from beating her but maybe it was hard for people to see a person could do that to their own blood.

My family and I lived a few buildings away from Ana. I remember the police and crime scene tape. I even remembered watching the report on the evening news about this murder. As we listened to the news, my mother immediately accused Ana's father/building super of killing her in a jealous rage because Matias was 'sleeping' with his own daughter. We all gasped because the news report did not reveal the latter findings. According to mom: "the boy Ana was texting was secretly her boyfriend, and she and the boyfriend texted that they were in love and had been intimate. She had to hide this relationship from everyone due to the dangers she faced at home. There were claims she had plans of running away with her boyfriend. Word from neighbors had spread about her sick father. People said she was never allowed to play outside in the neighborhood, at the park directly across from Matias' building or be seen standing outside the building because he didn't want any boys to talk to her. She was only allowed to be outside unless Matias was present. Rumors in the neighborhood were that Matias acted like a controlling lover than a father." My mom had told us more, but this is what I can remember. Again, all of this may be rumors and may be gossip, but it sickens me that not enough effort was put forth to protect Ana. Based on my mother's words, why didn't anyone who witnessed Matias abnormal interactions with Ana report him? I'm always left with more questions than answers. This story has always stayed on my mind. Still to this day, candles are lit in front of the building where young Ana lived on Walton Avenue for her memory. The candles remind me of Ana and what she might have become... RIP Ana Matias Jose, thank you for respecting this story and remembering Ana.

Thank you so much for your comment. With situations like these, more information tends to come out later on since the news stop reporting and don't care to update anything. Stories like these hurt. I've seen it too many times. I truly understand how personal these stories are and I always keep them in mind, but these stories also need to be told. They resemble so many other realities kids are dealing with today on a daily basis. I just want people to pay attention and do something when they see it unfolding. Your moms reaction feels very familiar. That shock and the realization that everything that was once heard was true. There are always two sides to people. Ana should still be here today. Thank you again, I hope all is well! Rest In Peace Ana Matias.

Then it becomes a case of KIDNAPPING and the mother would have been ARRESTED for doing so and FULL custody given to the piece of sh*t dad and he’d be free to rape her every single day 🥴. This is not on the mother. She did nothing wrong, the system failed her when they had all the evidence that the dude was mentally handicapped. I’ve struggled to get work for almost 10 years because I have a charge on my police report and every workplace requires that whenever we apply. So I’m always having to explain to employers that “hey it’s not what you think, I was in a domestic violence situation, my ex husband attacked me but he undermined my strength and I nearly killed him”, I don’t say it exactly like that lol but I do let them know that i was attacked and had to defend myself. When the police came, all they saw was the damage I had done to HIM lol, so they doubted that he had started anything because I didn’t look as bad as he did, with the fact that I was literally about to end his life. My case of “fighting back” resulted in me getting punished. Karma definitely got him though, because 5 years later he’s homeless and mentally off whereas I’ve had some jobs because I explained why I had a charge during my interviews and when you’re a nice person some employers can clearly see that. But it’s hard finding employers who are even willing to listen so working was hard for the past 5 years… 5 more years to go until I’m completely clear in my report. I’m thriving with my soon to be 6 year old, that the fool used to threaten he would “take my son from me” but now look… I have FULL custody and he’s a poor excuse of a parent 🥰. The way the law/system is set up does not protect children under 18 from a horrible mother or father which is SAD. The mother had no choice but to allow that mentally deranged father to have their child even for a day. You end up losing your child if you don’t follow through. This alone, will be the reason why I won’t have anymore kids unless it’s from a SPERM BANK. I do not want to be attached to anyone because people are mentally sick out here, I don’t want anyone else having a say in my child’s life and having to wait until that child is 18 for that child to make their own safe decisions to protect themselves ugh 😣. Single parenting is the way to go for me! You never know who is sick out here and nowadays the majority of sick people is A LOT as we can clearly see of the deranged people online 🫠.

This was terrible and I will never forget it. I was actually residing in a building where her mom worked security and resided there with Ana and her siblings. Her mother was loving and took care of her kids. Ana was a lovely girl. That monster killed her when she went to his house. She was a sweet girl and her mother worked really hard. It was devastating 😢 she didn't deserve to go out like that. The community was truly hurt 😔

I just stumbled across your channel yesterday and I am HOOKED. I watch a lot of other true crime youtubers, but you? You bring something to these tragedies that none of the others do. You don't add humor or elements of entertainment. You maintain the serious, gritty, harrowing, tragic truth. And I love your channel for this. Because the truth is, these were REAL people who lost their lives. They weren't put on this earth to be headlines or thumbnails. They had families, friends, communities, and people who loved them. And everytime I finish one of your videos, I find myself sitting in silence and truly taking in what I was just informed of. And it sits heavy on my heart, as it should. You put 100% respect on these videos and it absolutely reflects.

So many humans have this issue of incest, no one talks about, ignore it or are ignorant of it happening because of religion, grooming, uneducated, or just evil. It’s so sad, I’m latina I grew up with all males no mother in my life. They always respected me and always said never allow another adult to keep secrets or touch me inappropriately, further explaining that my body parts were for myself only and that no one family, friend can touch me.

These stories are disturbing to everyone, but to me...I'm lucky, very fortunate to have survived my childhood. The people who were supposed to nurture, protect and raise me made me afraid, every day. I'm not talking uncomfortable, I was terrified. There were only four of us, father, mother, older brother and me. And I was the youngest, smallest, most vulnerable. And I was molested, beaten, tortured, tormented...I always wondered why those people hated me. At 15 I was thrown into the street, on my own. It possibly saved my life. When I see a beautiful girl like this who didn't survive, it breaks me. 😔 I feel like they're the sisters I never knew...a connection somehow...I wish we had met. One day, we will 💕
