Pneuma and Descending are the best 2 tracks on the album in my opinion. Some of the best songs they've done period. The last 4-5 minutes of Descending might be my favourite moment on the entire album!!
@Jamie_Wilson
@Jamie_Wilson 4 жыл бұрын
You think the last 4-5mins of Descending is their best work? Are you serious? Have you got an ear wax problem? Have you not heard the first 5 minutes of Descending? I'm just kidding about you not being sane to think the last 5 minutes are that amazing by the way lol...it sure is my friend, but it'll always come second to the first 5 mins (maybe a bit longer) of Descending for me! That whole section from just after the waves are traded in for the instruments right up until Maynard first sounds the...powerful but terrifying....dread alarm and finally calls us ALL to arms in order for the third...most epic...and final time...what can I say really? ...I don't think I have the vocabulary required to explain how much that shit hits me like a brick...it's like trying to explain a black hole to a 3 year old lol, words are pointless, just let them feel the power for themselves! ...nothing more needs to be said really, just listen to it, close your eyes, turn off your phone, remove all distractions, and finally just trust that...YES! YOUR EARS ARE NOT DECEIVING YOU! THIS REALLY IS AS GOOD AS YOU THINK IT IS!!

♫♪ Risssssseeeee Stay the grand finale ♪♫♪ Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue ♪♫ I didn't give Descending much a chance at first. I had a hard time getting past Invincible & would put it back to Pneuma. In my order of love, Descending, Pneuma, 7empest, Culling Voices then Invincible and on repeat. 🤘🤘
@Jamie_Wilson
@Jamie_Wilson 4 жыл бұрын
@@VegasJPH Yeah... Pretty fucking awesome too come to think of it lol The reason we are talking about the first 5 mins or the last 5 mins is that they are similar but very different sections. The lyrics are finished by the midway mark pretty much, and then the outro is exclusively a (damn amazing) instrumental section. Your "middle 5" kinda crosses both which is pretty great. Joking aside, that whole song is an epic masterpiece...even the 2 minute beach ambience intro rocks

I didn't think super highly of this track at first, but it has grown into my favorite next to Fear Inoculum. The message of this song is powerful. Took me many listens to finally get around to hearing every word and listening to everything together... And yeah, it had me on the verge of tears. Maynard's most passionate singing on the album IMO.

All of Tool's albums end with these long songs or groups of songs, that are pure masterpieces. (Disgustipated from Undertow, Third Eye on Aenima, Lateralus/Disposition/Reflection/Triad on Lateralus, and Intension/Right In Two from 10,000 Days) These are the songs I find myself coming back to time and again over the years, and I think they all fall under the term you cleverly coined as "Euphoric Metal". (Well, maybe Disgutipated is a slightly different "Animal".) All of Fear Inoculum follows the mold of these songs, and I am so glad for that. But I can see where folks that are only getting introduced to Tool might think all the songs on Fear Inoculum start to sound alike. I recommend you take a break from all these complex hypnotizing songs and have a little party listening to Chocolate Chip Trip, and maybe some hard and dark tracks from earlier albums, before tackling Culling Voices. As one of the other commenters mentioned Culling Voices is definitely under appreciated, and though it fits solidly in with the rest of the amazing songs on this album, but it's probably one of the slowest growers ever. Anyway, great reaction here to Descending. Thanks for another great video!

To me this album is a Requiem a tribute/Anthem of The bands life as they exist in this day and age. An the progression of all of us and them. Throughout this last decade. It's a brilliant story. And listening to this album numerous times since it dropped.. It still brings me to tears. It never stops that feeling of onesness, understanding a sense of greatness .. The Trips that Tool have took us all on since their very first album. Has been an exciting journey. And such a wonderful musical trilogy. "The terrible and fantastic story of all of our survival" Musically transcribed for our souls. Danny, Maynard, Adam and Justin bring it with intensity.. Couldn't have asked for more. "Musical Masterpiece" Would love to see a full action movie to the soundtrack of Tool's full discography. If the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Metallica why not Tool. Adam,Maynard & Alex Grey doing the artwork Omg I can only imagine..

Hey Drew, some of your Reactions popped up about six months ago and I have to admit, I felt that your listening skills were undeveloped. Not trying to be rude, just truthful. So I ignored subsequent offerings. Today, your Fear Inoculum Reaction popped up, and I thought, "okay let's see where he is now." You've come a long way, sir! I watched all of your TOOL Reactions back-to-back, and I'll definitely be following along on your TOOL journey. Welcome to the, TOOL Army! 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥 In my opinion, when one considers the compositional complexity, virtuosic skill, and the often profound and/or esoteric nature of the lyrics much of Metal, and TOOL in particular, is the modern equivalent of Classical Music. I don't mean to come off as a tosser, but then my wife doesn't call me a music snob for nothing, I guess.

You don't need to be hyped to display appreciation for good tunes bro. It's more of a chill track so a chill reaction is normal.. I wouldn't bother reacting to the segue tracks. They aren't full songs just trippy interludes. Tool always peppers them into their albums for pacing purposes, as the albums are generally layed out to be listened to as a single peice of art.

Listen Live Descending, Florida. The guitar is even better wide open and not mastered. The crescendo is more impactfull with the gong smash ect. Live version seems better imo.

I know this isn't pertinent to this video, but I would like to see you react to A Perfect Circle's - 'Brena'. Some of Maynards best vocals in my opinion. Probably the album version.

Completely agree on Descending being a grower and Invincible being instantly likable. Culling Voices was another immediate like for me.

Danny is so great at what he does that he basically woke up one day and decided to play and entire album off beat and it's going to sound fucking amazing!🤘

There's only 2 left on the album plus an instrumental that's pretty short. So by all means react away. But I'd love to see your reaction to songs on their first album Opiate. Much harder and the songs are a lot shorter. This was before they went prog. 😊

You need to start at the beginning with some songs off of Opiate and Undertow so you can truly appreciate the progression of the band. I’m not sure how I would feel about this new album if it were my first exposure to TOOL.

I love metal. Love it. But my second love is gangster rap and early nineties hip hop. One song that doesn’t get anywhere near enough love is Hip Hop by Dead Prez. Completely different sound than today’s rap scene.

Maynard's most passionate performance (on the album) IMO. Once you get the message everything about it comes together as an amazing almost cinematic experience.

I feel this is the only song that has a new TOOL sound, imo. I can hear where everything else would have fit on certain albums but this track sounds new.

If I can say smth about technical aspect it’d be nice to hear your voice level bit lower to be able to enjoy music with you together on full volume and not be distracted by voice/commenting level. External mic in perhaps ? Peace and music drifting to all ✌️

I loved both Descending and Invincible from the live performances I heard, but once the album dropped and I heard the recorded version of Descending I was completely converted...that guitar solo...come on now.
