As a TOOL fan for roughly 20 years, I'm going to be honest for a second. It almost brings me to tears of joy, seeing someone hear TOOL for the first time and honestly enjoying the full experience. And understanding it better than most people do. I can tell that everything you are saying and feeling is a completely honest reaction. I'm envious of you being able to experience this for the first time. It's such a great journey that you are on.

I feel the same way. Thought just today, it like seeing a child grow and develop. Start to take their first steps. I found one, brand new, listen to this first song 3 days ago. He saw Maynard on Joe Rogan, heard him talk about the Fibonacci sequence found Maynard interesting and had to check Tool out. He started with Laturalus, told him that was like starting school in the fifth grade, but he got it right away. I told him to go back to Undertow, that's where I started, I heard Sober, that bass line, Danny's high-hat driving the song forward and that was it, like a junkie I was hooked. I'll drop the link, check him out, give him some pointers, watch a new born grow.... spiral out... keep going 🌀

Yeah I love watching "Tool first listen reaction" videos, I like seeing the person's face when the music hits them, it's the same kind of expression, accept to a far lesser degree, when you see a first time psychedelic user start to feel it and "understand" it..

Sometimes with tool the song you're listening to will have a lead in song, and its usually not labeled, intension is like a companion song with this, Before you listen to a song ask one of your supporters to find out what the lead in song is, if there is one, for example I know the last 3 songs on lateralis go together, I forget there names, triad and I'm blanking on the other 2

Great reaction to a great song this is definitely in my top 5 of my favorite 50 other songs by Tool...all also in my top 5. You mentioned you were doing this for your daughters...I love that. And yep...Tool has several songs that Maynard wrote for his son. More of as a warning...like that fear you get with newborns that make a new dad feel the mantle of protection...I would recommend H next. H is the middle name of his son and he warns us all through the eyes of a father to not repeat the cycle of hatred and fear that we may have received as a child. It is interesring.

I've been Tool fan since 93'. No other band can take you a journey like Tool. Maynard's vocals in mixed so that it sits right in the middle of the music, unlike a lot of band where they place the vocal out front. His vocals Become more like a instrument, blended perfectly "between the sounds". If you want to see what Maynard come do go check out A Perfect Circle, one of his other bands, it will blow you away. I would suggest "3 libras". Welcome to the Army, Spiral out, keep going.

Heymon, love the reactions. Tool is definitely a trip. You mentioned about your little one not sleeping. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old, both girls. Both born and raised on tool music. To be honest, the rhythms and hypnotic nature of some of the songs were the best for bouncing both my girls to sleep as infants. It was always my go to in a pinch. A very good playlist is Pneuma, Right in Two, Parabol Parabola, Lateralus. Try Pneuma next, album version. Best tool song for a baby that won't sleep.

Love your reactions! You think Lateralus almost brought you to tears! Wait till you get to the songs about Maynards mother! You really need to listen to the songs in a specific order . Maynard'smom was incapacitated for 27 years and you will.feel Maynard's emotions through his lyrics. Maynard is the lead singer for A Perfect Circle also and I would personally start with Orestes, then Judith. Switch back to Tool and do Jimmy and finally, finish with Wings for Marie part 1 and 10,000 days wings for Marie part 2. Those 2 last songs are probably the most sincere lyrics of any song ever written!

I believe this is hands down the best reaction I've seen in terms of picking up what Tool is putting down. Subbed.

Awesome reaction! It’s great to see another man of Faith appreciate TOOL! I’m a new subscriber so I’m not sure what tracks you’ve listened to already but it’s a journey to experience for sure. May I suggest Descending and 7empest(Tempest) off of Fear Innoculum. Great songs and even longer than this one but such an incredible journey. God Bless

I have always thought When listening to tool I call it the awakening of the spirit. 10000 days is the album I will always see as their best work but then again all of it is their best work. I was 12 when I first heard undertow and I went around school singing that album all day long and every one thought I was nuts but I had met a few ppl in Class knew what I was sing and guess what. Besties since that day. Plus being West Indian made me stand out. Now everyone who hears Tool are all waking up from their slumber and it makes me proud to finally see and meet you my Brother and Sister of Earth.

Oh man,Tool fan here also. They are absolutely spiritual sometimes. I need to see them live. And yes it's "Tool army". I have so many band/song recommendations. Like punk, ska, goth I can go on and on lol the metal community is great too btw.

This story reminds me of the movie The Proohecy. It's about the actual Angel War. Gabriel (Christopher Walken) calls us talking monkeys in the movie.

I'm a union carpenter by trade ,and have been for 30 years, and can remember getting introduced to undertow in 1993 ,I was 25 and can remember when i was on a job site, and it was lunch time, everyone would rush down to the lunch truck, and i would rush to my truck get in hit the play start listening to undertow, burn a bowl (weed),then the rest of the day was a breeze, even if the foreman was yelling his ass of at me, because I knew the day would end and I could listen to tool on the way home drink a tall boy burn a bowl and just crews no stress, especially when job sites were usually 2 hours away from Home.

You mention listening to tool with your daughters... My 5 year old spent probably 6 months falling asleep to Pneuma and now has just moved on to reflection. I play the clean stuff enough around the house that I'm getting them by osmosis I think haha. I have a special relationship with the band Queen because my father basically did this, I hope tool are still touring when my kids are old enough to see them with me 🤞

The song has brought me to tears on multiple occasions. Its so beautiful. It's fantastic seeing someone listen to it and understand it, because soo many people just can't seem to hear what I hear.

Sebs (Sebastian?), please do not apologize for laughing at parts. This is a reaction video and your raw, honest reaction is exactly what we have all come here to see. As @Fear_Inoculum said below, we are here to share the experience of joy that we feel listening to this band and seeing that joy bloom in others as they listen to the same parts for the first time, almost allowing us to re-experience the song for the first time with you. Your reaction should be just that, a reaction, involuntary and honest. Never apologize for your honest reactions and feelings. That is what we love. I have some thoughts on the free will topic you brought up near the end btw but will get back to that later. Thank you though for these reactions and your genuine joy shared with us for your daughters. We all need more joy, reflection and camaraderie in this world as you are providing here.

I love how Maynard shows respect to all beliefs in the song. "Angels on the sideline" and "Talking monkeys"... Even tho his stance is "indifference." "Beliefs stagnate the mind" in his opinion.
