3rd eye is one of those songs where it needs a few listens to really appreciate it, otherwise it could be alot of noise and confusion. It's one of my fav songs of all time.

This song is a drug to me! When I listen to it I close my eyes and no matter how the song pans or where the sound is coming from I drive the sound towards where I perceive my Third Eye to be. When the song is over I feel like I've come back from somewhere otherworldly. I don't listen to it to often, but when I do........wow.✌🤘🤘

Third Eye and Rosetta Stoned are strong contenders for their best work (I say, without having listened to any of Fear Innoculum, because I'm waiting for the perfect time to experience it). I think Rosetta Stoned is more overwhelming, but Third Eye is a bigger trip. When I first started listening to Tool, I took to RS much quicker than TE; I had to listen to the latter a couple times to truly appreciate it. Which is why I guess people say that Third Eye is the "final boss" of Tool. It's just on another level. I can't even describe it.

Love the line when Maynard screams “Prying open my third eye” over and over again. But the Bill Hicks samples in the intro. First time I saw them play this live in Oakland CA I was dosed on white blotter, I literally stood there with my mouth on the floor being tossed about by the crowd but I was so striken with this song. The visuals were the tits. Top three trips ever. I peaked at the break where it's spoken word so my inner self was like bursting out of my skin as he swooned and bellowed out "so good to see you once again...." fucking gnarly

This has always been my favorite Tool track. Has movements like a classically composed orchestral masterwork. Hear new nuances with every listen. Tool at their progressive best. Doesn’t get any better for me. I’ve never tripped on acid but I imagine this song encompasses that journey perfectly.

I have said the same in other comment sections. It is almost classical in it's writing style. In terms of the sound quality and journey-like quality, it reminds me of progressive rock's answer to Igor Stravinsky. There are some moments that are reminiscent of the Rite of Spring for me, particularly with the use of the whole-tone scale and the general atonality/bi-tonality. Those dirty cluster chords that come in with the distortion on the guitar remind me very much of the 'augur' chord from Rite of Spring.

Awesome job as usual. Incredibly complex and emotional song. Interesting thing is that it shares a couple musical traits with Rule of Nines by Spiritbox even though they're very different songs. It's also apropos that you'd post this tonight, as the United States is getting its third eye pried WIDE open tonight, in terms of current events. In any case, stay safe and healthy.

It’s great to reminisce on your car days reactions, all great reactions. It is evident that each member loves the music they create and ‘Third Eye’ is a prime example. Dylan, I saw TOOL in 1997 and I kept saying they're not gunna play 3rd Eye. They're not gunna play 3rd Eye. They opened with 3rd Eye. Mind blown right out of my helmet. Hope you and yours are well

Happened to me too at Voodoo Fest 2016. I'm not sure if that's rare, but I captured it on my phone. Saw them earlier this year, and no Third Eye
