Lyrics:
Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head
Eye hole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox, house of cards, and glass
So don't go tossin' your stones around
You must have been high
You must have been high
You must have been
Foot in mouth, and head up ass
So what you talkin' 'bout?
Difficult to dance 'round this one
Till you pull it out, boy
You must have been so high
You must have been so high
Steal, burrow, reefer
Save your shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the juror with the innocent
Now you're weeping shades of cozen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high
You must have been high, high
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Fucking hypocrite
Liar, lawyer, mirror show me
What's the difference?
Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent
Now you're weeping shades of cozen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been
So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fat fingers at me?
You must have been out your mind
Weeping shades of indigo
Trapped without a reason
Weeping shades of indigo
Liar, lawyer, mirror for you
What's the difference?
Kangaroo be stoned
He's guilty as the government
Now you're weeping shades of cozen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high, high, high
Eyeballs deep in bloody waters
You're balls deep in muddy waters
Ganja? Please!
You must have been out your mind

As a very new TOOL fan I was blasting this song in the back of a huge parking lot yesterday, while waiting to pick up my son from work. Some guy in the parking lot, that I did not know, stayed to listen to the _whole_ song before he pulled out & drove away. Such a unique & wholesome experience! *Hugs from Canada.

10,000 Days is incredible. The groove on this track is insane. I’ve seen people say “oh the pot is just the radio song.” Who cares if it was a little more radio ready, this stuff rocks all the way to the bank. And in 2006-2007 Vicarious, The Pot, and Jambi were the best things on the radio at the time and I’ll never not think that. And yes I have a personal connection to this album but I really do believe it to be one of their very best.

That's all Tool songs. The Drums and Bass aren't just rhythm that supports guitar riffs and solos. They're front and center as much or more than the guitar. They're one of the greatest rock bands of all time for that very reason.

Insane musicality. The way the guitar comes in and erupts in such a way when the verse fully opens up. It's not just the notes, it's a full on understanding of the emotional power/effect sound and the instrument can have.

You look young. These guys popped up in the early/mid90s. I was a sophomore in college and recall someone spinning OPIATE -- before the song "Sober" came out and helped the band become popular. OPIATE is still my favorite of all of their albums and really captures their energy. They definitely evolved and their music became more complex and to me, they are arguably one of the most overall talented bands of all time. The guitar and bass (or vocals) don't get as much credit as deserved because Danny Carey is a fucking ROBOT. The best part? MJK was a stand-up comedian before rising to popularity as a singer. Check out some of the early episodes of MR SHOW (starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross). =-)

In my opinion, this the best song to introduce people to Tool with. The catchy riffs and the 4/4 time signature make it more accessible to a wider audience, but it's still got the same complexity as the rest of Tool's discography. It's a pretty straight forward rock song for the most part, but not too straightforward that it's bland or boring.

Schism I feel is a good one to start people off with. The whole lateralus albuml. No Quarter was my introduction to TOOL. I'm a big LZ fan and kept seeing people in the comment section say "check out TOOL's version", "TOOL's is better" etc etc. I finally listened to it, and loved it. Then I checked out Schism than all the rest. Right when Fear Inoculum came out. Now TOOL is one my all time favorites. It's like a darker PF. Speebs.

This may sound dramatic and the members of Tool will most likely never read this but I just want to say that Tool has helped me get through a lot of personal struggles in my life. Their music, the aggression, the tempo changes, the harmonics and lyrics helped save me from my dark shadows through out my later life. To see everyone in the comments in unity sharing their love for this band and expressing raw emotion is why Tool remain in my top 3. Thank you Maynard, Justin, Danny and Adam for everything. May you all continue to be successful, and make more amazing music for newer generations ❤️

You're far from alone. I had a friend who was an absolute disaster after high school. Extreme fall into drugs and hanging with the wrong kind of people. He was always a TOOL fan but, he got into a real deep listening phase, and started reading about MJK and his beliefs and thought process, and credits that connection with a recovery, and return to Christianity. He's a happy, sober person now, with good relationships and a nice wife.

If anyone expects to feel good or get off the to shallow end of Tool, they are missing the true bliss, horror, and delirium of what it is to be human.

This is my favorite song by Tool, or just period. Tool makes me feel like I'm home if that makes sense. I feel so alone. Tool makes me feel less alone. 💘

I hear what you saying… true. That could be a different song all into itself. Simply put though, that’s the bridge…or one of them. It seems there’s like two bridges in this song. Anyway, Most good rock songs all have them.

I come back to this song just for those few seconds and that one sentence. It's just such a perfect dialog between all musicians. But what makes Tool so great is that they're not trying to milk it. That leaves it into a hem for everybody to discover.

Didn’t see any lyrics posted, so here: Who are you to wave your finger? You must have been out your head Eye hole deep in muddy waters You practically raised the dead Rob the grave to snow the cradle Then burn the evidence down Soapbox house of cards and glass so Don't go tossin' your stones around You must have been high You must have been high You must have been Foot in mouth and head up ass so Whatcha talkin' 'bout? Difficult to dance 'round this one 'Til you pull it out, boy You must have been so high You must have been so high Steal, borrow, refer, save your shady inference Kangaroo done hung the juror with the innocent Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo Got lemon juice up in your eye When you pissed all over my black kettle You must have been high high You must have been high high Who are you to wave your finger? So full of it Eye balls deep in muddy waters Fuckin' hypocrite Liar, lawyer; mirror show me, what's the difference? Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye When you pissed all over my black kettle You must've been... So who are you to wave your finger? Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me? You must have been out your mind Weepin' shades of indigo Trapped without a reason Weepin' shades of indigo Liar, lawyer; mirror, voyeur, what's the difference? Kangaroo be stoned. He's guilty as the government Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye Now when you pissed all over my black kettle You must've been High High High High Eyeballs deep in muddy waters Your balls deep in muddy waters Ganja Please You must have been out your mind

Got this from somewhere else. And I touched it up a little bit because some of that stuff was WAY off. Like “head up asshole...” sometimes I think that too, but MANY say it’s “ass so...” so don’t be mad at me on that one. 😅 If I missed anything, let me know. 🙂

Thanks, because it's impossible to understand most of what he is singing, not just on this song but in general. Im not trying to flame but to me it just sounds like lots of nasally tones put together into a melody.
