Thank you for this quick reset on humble inquiry! Although we can be experts in our field it is a good reminder that asking them 'how can I help' encourages them to remain in control of the situation at hand without us telling them what needs to be done. Thanks as always

Interesting. I thought the roles were process, expert and pair-of-hands, where basically you are taking on the solution of the client and implementing it when it probably only addresses a presenting problem (symptomatic fix). To me the latter is a low engagement activity - if not you someone else will do as well. Schein's works adorn my bookshelf, and I'm particularly fond of his leadership and culture stuff.
