Jason Knight recently visited Kayne & Sons Blacksmith Depot in Candler, NC to purchase some tongs and to see how they are made. After watching a demonstration of Blacksmith Depot making a pair of tongs, Jason selects six tongs to buy for a total of $300, and explains what each one is good for and why he chose it.
Word to the wise: "You can't have too many tongs".

I LOVE that store! Its been about a year since I drove over the mountain to the blacksmiths heaven. It is a beautiful drive to get there, I tell my daughter were going to the blacksmith store and she gets SO EXCITED to go and go play in the creeks on our way back home. I knew you lived in my neck of the woods but I didn't realize we shop at the same stores. Keep up the good work Jason. Hopefully we will meet sometime soon.

Definitely do recommend Blacksmith's Depot. Plus they ship crazy fast. Usually the day you order it's already got the label made and out the door that day or the day after.

@@paulorchard7960 I had a wander through gameco's NZ warehouse once. A faint echo the warehouse portrayed here, but useful. I thought the Sydney warehouse might be a little bit closer in scale.

induction does not heat up from the inside out, same as a microwave does not heat up from the inside out. Induction uses a rapidly fluctuating magnetic field to rapidly excite the iron molecules by flipping the polarity of the magnetic field. this in turn causes internal friction within those molecules and generates heat.

I had to learn to make my tongs at those prices I would have over a Grand in just tongs as it is I have 20+ tongs and I doubt I have 200$ in the material probably closer to 100$. Being poor causes you to do thinhs differently.
