Heath Ledger as the Joker is the best, deep, comprehensive and dark acting I ever seen. I can't think of anything better. Sometimes records are set that never, ever will be best. Examples are Joe DiMaggio's consecutive hitting streak, Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in one basketball game...ect. This is the case with Ledger. Astonishing acting in that movie. Like he channeled the role in a way that can never be topped. I can watch that movie and never get tired. I read many times he locked himself in a hotel room for a month. Unbelievable. The Pianist was close. Till this day I watch that movie, I cry like a baby. That movie was one of the most believable acting I ever seen. Sometimes you watch a movie and you can tell they did this or that with one take. There are some things special effects can enhance and other times you can see right thru it.

That's why I don't shame or berate actors/actresses when they choose to drop out of a role, movie, or show. At the end of the day their the ones that have to deal with the psychological ramifications and physical ramifications of it. Its their bodies that their responsible for at the end of the roles.

Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York (2002) During filming, he stayed in character as Bill the Butcher so much that he got diagnosed with pneumonia but refused to take medication as the film was set in the 19th century, but he reluctantly took it anyway. And similarly to Austin Butler with his Elvis role, he also had his character's voice stuck in his vocal chords after the film was released.

Look Stanley Kubrick was a crazy genius, but that doesn't excuse the psychological abuse he put her or Jack Nicholson through but shelley I think he had it much worse, during production she even lost her hair due to stress and Kubrick the class act that it was even behind the scenes he resorted to teasing to keep her in that state of anguish, behind the scenes there were times when shelley even refused to leave her dressing room oh talk to anyone on the team because Kubrick ordered them to support him in having the actors tense and stressed ! Jesus Christ! Resulted in an amazing movie, yes ¿but at what cost?

I feel like one of the best performances I have ever seen was definitely this video here... As if him doing the behavior would benefit the rest of us. Yup, what can anyone truly do to avoid the chaos of it all.

Bill Skaarsgard as Pennywise in “IT” should be on this list; he didn’t even want to do “IT: Part 2”. Also, Anthony Hopkins was very hesitant to reprise his role as Hannibal Lector for the “Silence of the The Lambs” sequel, “Hannibal”

I've yet to hear anything bad about the actor on the TV show Gotham. His Jerome/Jeremiah character was supposed to be a Joker origin story.

What happened? The Joker was a fun character in the 1960s, now they're getting into real psychology to make him too realistically sick for the actors themselves to handle.

Bill Skarsgard apparently had nightmares about his own character Pennywise after the first It film, Michael B. Jordan had to go into therapy after preparing to play the villain Killmonger in Black Panther, Martin Sheen almost died of a heart attack while filming Apocalypse Now, Austin Butler was hospitalized after contracting a virus in his system shortly after Elvis had wrapped production and got stuck still talking like Elvis Presley, Leonardo DiCaprio had to take a break from acting for a few years after a long, difficult experience filming The Revenant and Heath Ledger became restless after playing the Joker in The Dark Knight and died while trying to take his medication in order to get some sleep.

I heard Tom Hanks had PTSD filming saving private Ryan and I don’t blame him. I would have been crying throughout that opening scene during the production if I done it myself

4:08 Good for Quentin for giving Uma the video .... eventually. I am an actor / stunt performer. I also served 7 years in the military, 3 in the infantry, 4 in the Special Forces in direct action. It is the exact same in the Forces and industry. When the powers that be fork it up they will do everything under the sun to avoid responsibility, for the "greater good!". Problem is someone somewhere always knows the truth and eventually it comes out making them look worse.
