She went 5 or 6 wide in 2009 BCC. Zenyatta hunted all of them down. Even Blame. 20 lengths against young blood is 20 lengths. She erased that with a couple furlongs left and nearly beat the home track horse. Zenyatta the GOAT mare.

I guess this list should be longer, some exceptional & great mares. The great Royal Delta, certainly should be listed. She was great for more than 1 season. The race between Beholder & Songbird was great. Those 2 ladies duked it out! Awesome! Time has gone by & I have forgotten how really good Lady’s Secret was! In this race, she ran against some outstanding race mates. This was a really nice field! Rags to Riches race against Curlin was wonderful. Again, they fought ferociously. These were some very nice races!

How is zenyatta not number 1? And can someone explain to me how lady aurelia is not in this list. She holds a rating that sits in the top 10 of all time for her performance at Royal Ascot. Absolutely incredible horse

I'mnot sure if you are familiar with Ruffians accomplishments. In all her races she never was behind at any point in the race. She also set stakes records in all 8 stakes races she competed in and equaled 2 track records as well. She has to be the best of alltime, no question about it!!

@@OfficialMuffiin you just can't make a statement like that and not say who you think is the greatest filly of alltime and why. I mean she won her very first race by 15 lengths and tied the track record for 5 1/2 furlongs, as a 2 year old. Never been done before!! Her average margin of victory in all 10 of her starts was 8 lengths. She also won races from 5 1/2 furlongs to a mile and a half!! I think her case is pretty strong for best filly of alltime!!

Finally Rachel Alexandra got some recognition. I think her KOs win should have been used the MG is good too. She beat that track record and margin of victory set by Ruffian 💪

I swear this whole "past is better" thing needs to stop. There is no argument that can be made to justify putting Ruffian at #1 over Zenyatta. America loves the tragedy tales so the way Ruffian's life ended her career gets glorified. Don't get me wrong I am 100% on board with her at #2 but ahead of Zenyatta? I think not. So Ruffian went 10-0? Oh yeah so did Zenyatta of course she went on to almost double it. Ruffian never faced males in a race and only faced the one in her final race which was a match race. Ruffian was amazing! Obviously, but sorry to the older people here clinging to that era Zenyatta was better. I don't want to hear all the "look at the track records Ruffian set" thing. Like I said she was really fast but it's apples and oranges. Ruffian was in complete control of the times she ran seeing as how she was a front runner her darted out to first place early and stayed there, thus the times she ran are the "times she ran". Zenyatta was a closer who dropped to the back at the beginning (how far depended on how fast the leader was going) and as a closer she only started closing ground around the end of the final turn and ran as hard as was needed to pass them all. Thus her race times (which were still quite amazing) were basically the 2nd place horse time minus a length or 2. If you think Ruffian could have done what Zenyatta did in those Breeders Cup Races youre almost as crazy as all those Rachel Alexandra fans that seriously thought she was anywhere even close to Zenyatta's level.

And ruffians time records went down a long time ago. Lady’s secret genuine risk ruffian zenyatta makybe diva winx black caviar are truly the greatest !!! The rest were exceptional but these girls transcended the sport to new levels of international popularity and excitement. Rachel too but they ran her too hard as a 3 year old and never recovered! Zen just listen to all the songs people have written about her transcended the sport back to the 70s and the golden age of horse racing. Ironically the greatest race I’ve ever seen ever was the race she came in second. That is truly the greatest and fastest stretch ever in racing PERIOD!! and 1 more foot was the difference! to 3 breeders cups!!! And with winx, Zens half-sister show that lightning can strike 2x

Yikes. You’ve been pretty misinformed! In all of Ruffians races (with the exception of the Sorority) she was never allowed to fully run, everything was done with absolute ease. There is no doubt that Ruffian would have dominated those low level California horses, especially on the sythentic. Ruffian could run all day long, and i’m convinced she could do it anywhere (not just hide in California against weak competition) Zenyatta was a great horse, but Ruffian earned that #1 spot.

Ruffian was great but no where near the level of Zenyatta with the 2nd fastest ladies classic in history and 12th fastest classic ever run at the time. Zenyatta is the best closer in racing history. Resumes don't lie. THe most exciting race was the one race she came in second. Ruffian is conjecture of what could have been. Zenyatta is what was the truth. Period!!! Native Dancer was a great horse but the weak leg curse is not a theory. Ruffian, Barbaro & Eight Belles all suffered and died because of the Native Dancer Curse. Reviewer (Ruffian's sire) had broken down 2x with breaks when he raced and Ruffian had suffered a break the year before as a 2 year old. Horses need to stop breeding his progeny because more heart break will happen. Half of the horses that died at Santa Anita were progeny of Native Dancer.

Such a tragedy the way it ended for Ruffian. But they also did "ruin the horse" Secretariat. Had to be euthanized for a front leg "racehorse disease". Fun fact they leave out of the movie. Run them into the ground on hard turf and they'll all go down the same way. Just make the race nice and long to push them to the line.
