Its not on the list but Anderson Cooper came to the Philippines on the aftermath of typhoon Haiyan and he was always compassionate and respectful. He never treated the victims like props for his stories. He also had the guts to call out local officials when they weren't doing their jobs and called out people who were abusing the situation. So doubt he'd get to read this but just want to share an additional moment of how good he is not just as a journalist but as a man in general.

So did I. Anderson Cooper set an example of what reporters should do in the aftermath of a mass shooting: remember the victims, honor the heroes, listen to the survivors (when they are ready to talk,) and encourage the public to help the survivors in any way that they can. People helped the survivors of the Pulse nightclub tragedy through acts such as blood donation or counseling.

And now that boy has become a doctor. Anderson met up with him several years after he saved his life during the riots in Haiti. While I don't condone the riots; I can understand why the riots were occurring: the people of Haiti were angry over the incompetent and inefficient response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. They were upset over not being able to get access to food, water, medication, medical supplies, etc because of the corruption in Port-au-Prince.

I don't remember who it was but I think that was Louisiana's governor Kathleen Blanco. New Orleans' mayor Ray Nagin took Hurricane Katrina seriously because he lived through Hurricane Betsy in 1965 and Hurricane Camille in 1969. It was through Ray Nagin that the Civil Emergency message for Hurricane Katrina was issued to convince even the most stubborn residents of New Orleans that Katrina would destroy the city and that they should get the Hell out of New Orleans.

While I don't watch the news as much as I used too (I.E see the arguments down below for reference) Anderson Cooper has always been a person that catches my attention. He remains steadfast in his resolve on all issues, telling the truth (Yes, the whole truth as much as certain republican supporters might think otherwise) in times of crisis and peril. He holds everyone to a higher standard, and does not back down. He is a person that I feel surprisingly comforted in seeing when on TV. Not because he supports my opinion, but because he continues to be kind and show his humanity when telling the stories he has to cover. During the incident at the Pulse night club and the resulting aftermath, he showed a humanity that few reporters shared. He was willing to cry on screen for lives lost. That is a sign of a good reporter, and a decent human being.

I respect the hell out of Anderson Cooper. He is so cool and really admirable, and i (as a hopeful future political reporter) see him as a goal to try And live up to in that career. Also he reminds me alot of people like John Oliver or Stephen Colbert, just more serious. Which isn't always a bad thing.

Anderson Cooper is one of the few journalists left in the world who actually has the courage to report real news, and is willing to question and discuss topics that so many others choose to ignore. Large news corporations, which I won't name would rather report on the newest celebrity trend, or what happened on KUWTK the previous night. It's just my personal opinion but I don't want to watch that trash, when I flip on world news I want to know what is happening around the globe, not Kylie's latest lip procedure. It is sad that news anchors care more about ratings and their massive salaries than actually making a difference like Anderson Cooper has. I have the utmost respect for him, not only as a true journalist, but as a human being as well.
