A lot of the hate Endeavor gets are from fans that are projecting their own daddy issues onto him. Like my biological father was abusive af and it can be hard to stomach scenes of parental abuse in media at times. But even I know people, including abusers, are capable of change. I for one like that Endeavor explicitly tells his children “you don’t have to forgive me but I will confront my wrong doings head on”. He never pulls the manipulative “but I’m your father, you HAVE to forgive me because I say so”. We watch him struggle and continue forward on his path of becoming a better person/father.

The outrage is really overplayed. I love Shield Hero, but I can't deny that there's bad implications of the author's beliefs in the start of the series. It's even worse in the light novels, where it's overtly stated that Naofumi did it to fulfill a revenge fantasy. I'm thankful the anime omitted that detail.

You may think about Endeavour what you want but for me he’s undoubtedly the best character in MHA just for the sheer amount of development he gets throughout the story. At this point in the manga, for me, him and Hawks feel more like a secondary protagonist than even Bakugo and Shoto do and I am all here for it

But obviously he became humbled as the story progressed and sought redemption from his family, albeit it will take a while because of the damage he caused. But that’s the story. For some of these, I can't tell if they're the main characters or the authors fantasies about themselves (like Job less Reincarnation or Nagatoro) They get away with weird or morally questionable stuff that if it were an actual protagonist, they usually would set a realistic reaction for them but Instead the secondary characters just allow it

Even if I'll never forgive endeavor it doesn't mean the show needs to be cancelled if anything his dark past should be looked at as what people who are abused have to deal with no matter how much anime sensationalized it. Speaking from experience as an abuse victim I dont look at abuse in media as a reason to kill it but as a means to make it understandable for those who don't realize how bad it can get and feel. You can't wash away that it happens but you can use other mediums as ways to spread awareness
