Any chance you guys will come back on last year's list to see if the games you mentionned, after multiple playthroughs, lived up to your expectations, disappointed you or exceeded your expectations?

Sounds silly, but I think the way you sit around the table gives much more perspective than when the 3 of you are just facing the camera. You guys look at each other more, it's just much better.

It’s hard to get too excited about Kickstarters that I didn’t back because so many have Kickstarter exclusives that won’t be available if I try the production game, like it, and want to add it to my collection. Sometimes even the base game itself may not even be readily available. While Kickstarter is great in many ways to help great ideas come to life, the lack of an inclusive retail strategy makes me want to avoid them altogether.

Definitely most excited about Stuffed Fables! Also looking forward to Cerebria, Detective: City of Angels, and Betrayal: Legacy.

Received this KS production update today for Founders of Gloomhaven. Seems to confirm assumption about potential crossover to Gloomhaven... "Progress continues on gearing up for the production, though that has yet to officially start. We received a white box sample of all the printing components to approve. There was a small issue with the size of the larger cards (because of the tie-in events, they need to be exactly the same as Gloomhaven's cards), but we're solving that.

Also from Portal is Monolith Arena. I thought first of this game when Zee said Portal, since it is set in the Neuroshima universe.

Happy to see Epoch on Toms list. Its very rare i actually cross over with one of the dicetower lot. I kickstarted Epoch and to me what it seems to look like is a slightly lighter faster mageknight which i would love. The other game i am really looking forward to but wasn't really expecting to see on this list is Cerebria, the new game from Mindclash as i absolutely love Anachrony.

I think Epoch: The Awakening is going to turn heads. Can't wait for it.

This was mostly interesting because it confirms that my taste in board games is quite different from all three of the Dice Tower guys. There were a few games on the lists that I also consider interesting, but they're the exception to the rule. Flashy minis and artwork tend to make me wary of a game, not get excited about it. I'm mostly looking for sound mechanics.

Sam - your GoT book analysis is spot on but, yeah, Eric Lang GoT sounds fascinating!

My top two are Victorian Masterminds (Eric Lang & Antoine Bauza) and Empires of the Void II (Ryan Laukat). I suspect both of those will be on some Dice Tower top 10s in a year.

One game to rule them all: Vikinghaven, a 2-4 coop game that plays under 60minutes, featuring card AND dice drafting, which are used for politics, technology, economy and warfare. Each player controls a different viking clan with varying powers which are only usefull as support for the others. The Overlord (England) is controlled by an app developed by Portal Games, FFG and RIchard Garfield for the randomness factor.

Hey Zee. Bruno Cathala is bringing out a game in 2018. You have complete control over game length. It only has 2 components in the box - a paint brush and a can of paint. The instructions fit on one page. It’s called “Watching Paint Dry”. I think you’ll like it.

Definitely looking forward to Detective: City of Angels the most.

I think my most anticipated games of 2018 are Dungeon Crusade, Time of Legends: Joan of Ark, Batman, The God's War and Brass

@The Dice Tower... There is another legacy game coming out, its for a popular Kickstarter game called Aeons End, it's a deck builder. Apparently you start from the beginning of the Aeons End story line. In the current games already out, you play as developed characters battling evil. In the legacy version you're leveling up your character and I believe its also scenario or chapter based. I'm not sure if its a prequel that supposed to tie both Aeons games together or not but it looks awesome. Randomly searching some upcoming games here's a couple that sound intriguing to me for this year: Pipe Work Aeons End Legacy Planet of The Apes Miniatures Game Rambo The Board Game Kickass The Board Game Hate Batman The Miniatures Board Game Hellboy The Board Game Steamfall Imaginarium Contest of Champions (from upper deck)

I think a nice touch would be putting "Sam", "Zee" or "Tom" under or near the number on the overlay of the game. While scrolling through the video, it's sometimes hard to keep track of who's number is who especially when all three are commenting on each other's lists. I realize the colors are supposed to correspond to each of them but dunno how well that comes across and I often don't remember or pay attention to that.

I love the game I just hate the grind and dumping money into finding certain cards or dice. I am sure Tom loves that it brings money into the store but it's just like trying to stay current with Magic, which is why I also stopped playing that game as well. If this Warhammer version though comes with everything I need for a total campaign I'd be interested in it. I do agree with Tom that GW is ridiculous with the different factions of Space Marine's; they are basically all the same. Root reminds me of the Steam board game Armello. Now I wish they would create a physical version of Armello, but Root looks similar. I am with Tom on being enamored over the remake of Fireball Island. This game was one of my favorites as a child and seeing it remade brings back memories. I will be backing or buying this game as soon as I can get my hands on it. So Warhammer 40,000: Heroes of Black Reach is basically "Heroes of Normandie" with a Warhammer skin? I like it! Mark my words that it will also be available on Steam as well. Just picked up Heroes of Normandie on Steam and it's fun.

I was hoping someone would give Nemesis some love. That game looks AMAZING.

By far my #1 is Deep Madness. Not even a contest. Looks amazing. With Zee liking Cthulhu and disliking dungeon crawls, and Tom and Sam liking dungeon crawls but disliking Cthulhu, I get why it's not on their lists. Runners up for me are Rising Sun, Thunderstone Quest, Century Eastern Wonders, and Heroes of Land Air and Sea.

Thunderstone: Quest is definitely my most anticipated game this coming year.

Betrayal Legacy has definitely piqued my interest, as long as they've tightened up and clarified some of the haunt rules. I trust Rob Daviau after seeing how awesome Pandemic Legacy was for my group.

Chronicles of crime from lucky duck games(vikings gone wild) looks really interesting. A Co-op deduction/whodunnit kinda game thats app assisted, hoping it'll be good.

I'm excited for Empires of the Void II, although it's probably considered a 2017 game even though KS delivery is probably Feb 2018. Also super keen on AH:TCG expansions. Also CMoN are about to dump 3 KS's on my doorstep within about a week of each other in Rising Sun, Zombicide Green Horde and TWoSMOG: Rise of Moloch.

Having a problem with Legacy, not that I don't like it (I know I would LOVE it) however getting the same players together for a game even two times is difficult with RL responsibilities and "alignment of the schedules" being like a solar eclipse lol. Every time they release a legacy game I feel like I'm missing out.

A few interesting things coming out. I'm really intrigued by western legends, and I agree that Treasure Island does have a great look. Detective has also piqued my interest.

Kinda surprised that Thunderstone Quest is not on Toms list since he said in a preview that is could be the best thing he ever played. But maybe that's why its not on the list because he played the game already :)

Wow great lists for the most part. Treasure Island, Rising Sun, Edge of Darkness, and Imaginarium look great. Surprised a Portal Game can still make the list, seeing as they still have a track record of terrible rule books. After Cry Havoc, I pretty much have given up on that company.
