When I was younger I played in the same club as my dad. He always told me, if he ever saw me throw a racket or act unsportsmanlike he would pull me off the court. With that being said, I played a match and played terribly. I threw my racket at the wall. My dad walked on court, picked up my racket, congratulated my opponent on a well played match and promptly pulled me from the court. At the time I was livid, but now I tell my dad that was the right thing to do. Since then I would like to say that I have become a more gracious loser. Incredible move from my dad. Now I play with my dad every other week and we have a blast, even if I play terribly.

Tennis is such a grueling intense sport. The mental toughness it demands is second to none. I know the majority just looked at this video and saw the funny side...but as a tennis player myself, I could feel how much frustration these guys going through. There are days where you just want to be anywhere else but on the court.
@keyuranpillay7834
@keyuranpillay7834 Жыл бұрын
Props to those who play obviously but mental toughness second to none? That's a bit of a reach lol. MMA and contact sports are much more gruelling. Hell even Test cricket is gruelling, 5 consecutive days of constant playing for at least 8 hours a day and sometimes in scorching weather. So yeah, second to none is a bit of a reach lol
@whatsfordinner1695
@whatsfordinner1695 Жыл бұрын
@@keyuranpillay7834 I agree, boxing, mma would be more intense. Those are contact sports. Disagree with cricket. There is a lot of stop start. Half the fielders doing nothing. You concentrate for a few seconds for a dot ball. Then there’s nothing else to do for a min. You’re also in a team environment so there’s other people to rely on to give you a boost.

I'll never understand this argument. At this level all sports are intense and grueling.It's a fact that tennis players get away with a lot more than other professional athletes. Besides, even if you want to categorise sports by intensity, there are sports where the athlete's actual life is at stake.

@@izabella4823 One of the videos in the opposite list. Incidentally, I have seen Nadal play many times live - I go to see matches not just watch clips of moments like the above video. I love Nadal, as a person, I also love Nick, Medvedev, Federer, Tsitsipas, Zverev and all the guys coming up and the veterans. When you see them put all their hearts out on the court you realise that they are more than a 30 second sensational clip, they are real people who put their heart into what they do - Nadal and Kyrgios have played often and respect each other's game with a passion. Maybe you should watch their whole matches.
