Unfortunate Report: An old Yubel/ Savage Colosseum Strat comes to mind, they are forced to enter their battle phase because of Colosseum, throw in an All out Attack Orders and that's a game win if set up properly.

A few of the "Positive effect for the enemy" cards could be actually rather neat in a "Mindgame" Archetype. Like an archetype that revolves around playing really shitty cards, but the effect triggers as if it was the enemy activating it. Cold feet becomes a cold wave that requires settup. Unfortunate Report becomes a "You can attack twice" card. Pot of Generosity becomes a Delinquient Duo that requires settup. Or the 50000 IQ move of activating Back to the Wall followed by Sparks for the most BM FTK there is.

I used "An Unfortunate Battle Report" in my Yubel Deck, along with Battle Mania. Battle Mania forces all face up monsters to attack mode, and forces them to attack this turn. With only Yubel on my field (Back then), My opponent was forced to throw up to 10 attacks at Yubel, which would reflect damage back to them. Probably won't work well now, but it was so much fun back then.

With Cold Feet, its possible to chain Mystical Rift Panel to it on your opponent's turn to prevent them from using spell or trap cards. However, this combo requires you to happen to have both cards in your hand, because you have you good way to search your deck for either card (at least I think), so it requires some luck to set up.

Perfectly ultimate great moth can actually be summoned out easily now, we have cards like cocoon of ultra evolution and parasite paranoid which summon it ignoring the summoning conditions. So it’s not bad for how you have to summon it anymore.

Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth can at least do something once you summon it, and there's a support card that lets you straight up summon it ignoring its summoning conditions. _Larvae Moth,_ on the other hand, may be the single worst card in the game since it's barely stronger than Petit Moth.

Fusionist actually saw competitive play because of instant fusion and its typing for rank 3 MX Saber Invoker.

For "An Unfortunate Report", my suggestion is to combo it with the trap card "Staunch Defender", as this could make your opponent basically run head first into your high Def monster several times, thus taking a fair amount of LP damage.

There’s also “Counter Counter”, which negates and destroys a Counter Trap. The problem? The original printing was a regular Trap Card (Spell Speed 2), which can never be activated in response to a Counter Trap (Spell Speed 3). It was at least errataed though.

Actually briefly ran a copy of fusionist in my fusion deck (yes, that long ago), because at the time metamorphosis (yes, -that- long ago) still ran rampant and an easy play was to take control of an opponent's monster and then metamorphosis it into a fusion monster you'd get to keep. Mind, I never actually summoned fusionist in this way, but having a lv3 target didn't hurt lol EDIT: As for Dark Artist: I think they weren't trying to go for a neat effect to exploit, but rather just giving it a weakness like it's a pokemon or something lol

In Marik’s duel with Joey, he had a card effect that made it so every time Joey entered his battle phase he would randomly lose a card in his hand. Number 6 would be a good way for Joey to lose two random cards.

So, funny thing about the Spirit of the Pharaoh that I noticed and was talking about with friends, it's actually 1 card away from being meta relevant if you think about it. This might sound crazy, but if you read the effect it's somewhat true. The effect "when this card is Special Summoned, you can Special Summon up to 4 level 2 or lower Zombie-Type Normal Monsters from your GY" would technically trigger anytime it's special summoned, regardless of how it's Special Summoned. Of course this doesn't seem relevant because it can only be Special Summoned in 1 way...........except if something said "Ignoring summoning conditions". I could see a future where they print a zombie link monster that says "When this card is Link Summoned, Special Summon 1 Zombie-Type monster from your deck or graveyard, ignoring summoning conditions. You can only use this effect once per turn". IF something like that got printed on a reasonably easy to summon Link Monster, it would be able to summon Spirit of the Pharaoh straight from the deck, and trigger it's special summon effect, allowing you to get 4 level 2 and lower normal zombies from your graveyard to your field to extend Link Plays. In addition, if you play Zombie World, then the monsters in the graveyard don't even have to be Zombies, just Level 2 and Lower normal monsters would do. Skull Servants anyone? IN addition, consider that cards like Tri-wight, and Painful Decision exist in the game, as more support for mass amounts of low level normal spam. I could see a zombie world deck that has, let's say, the low level cyberse normal monsters in grave due to their combo plays, and then just summons the Link that summons Spirit of the Pharaoh, summons those Cyberse back, and keeps going. Since remember, it does say UP TO 4, doesn't have to be 4, so if you have only a few cyberse normals in grave it still works as a combo/play extender. Of course it would require Zombie World for those Cyberse to be summonable off of Spirit, but I could very easily see some zombie combo archtype comming out in the future that uses this in their main deck as a play extender, and having a link that says "Special Summon a zombie type from deck or grave ignoring restrictions" *chuckles*

For #3 Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon still had the Metalmorph effect in the anime. Making it actually useful.

With Number 6: An Unfortunate Report, it can somehow go well with Gladiator Beast with the help of Gladiator Naumachia with the effect that "your opponent must attack if able".

11:00 the trap would probably work with cards like Evil Hero Malicious Fiend, Volcanic Doomfire or Powered Crawler, where all cards your opponents control must attack the monster.

The only use Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon has now a days is a gimmick where using Red-Eyes Insight to send it to the graveyard and later use it as a ritual cost for Red-Eyes Transmigration to summon Lord of the Red, seeing as Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon is a level 10 Red-Eyes monster.

The reason for dark artist being so bad is because in the early days, a level 4 monster with 1400 defense is considered to be high (where the hitosumi giant’s 1200 atk was the highest for level 4 monsters), so it need to have a negative effect for your opponent to beat over it, but nowadays…it just aged very badly

Cold feet can be used to turn off continuous spells for one turn, the only time i can think that to be a good thing is of you are also playing chain energy, chain energy costs you 500 life points to play any card anywhere, so for the cost of 500 you can turn it off with cold feet and then pull your crazy triple synchro summon for 500 life instead of 4000 life, but theres some food for thought at least

The reason I can think of for Fusionist is because it was so common, so it was easy for new Yu-Gi-Oh players to fusion summon a monster when Fusion monsters weren't so common.

You could always use Card Trader. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw 1 card.

I saw Card Shuffle and thought “oh no, a super specific counter to my Flower Stacking” and then saw it was a continuous card haha

Always thought it would be really cool if Fusionist had an effect where the fusion materials special summon themselves WITH the card itself. That'd be pretty cool and get 3 monsters on the field before you normal summon. Not very good monsters but still, could be useful, especially back when it was introduced.

For cold feet, since its a quick play spell, couldn't you just use it on your draw step to cancel the effects of something that taxes you heavily on your standby phase? Some "Pay half your life points each standby phase" type of card? Or negate a "If either player summons [some condition] monster do a negative thing"? The card specifically says "use the effects of" in it's text so that makes me think the intended use is a way to avoid taxing yourself on a double-edged-sword type of card.

The only time I have found "Pot of Generosity" even a little bit useful was when I was running a Red Dragon Archfeind/assault mode deck. If RDA/assault mode was drawn he couldn't be played and as my ace that made it worthless in the hand as it had to be summoned from the deck. I would use Pot of Generosity to get him back in the deck. Then I got the card that allows you to summon assault mode from the hand (the name of that card is escaping me at this time)

As a masochist, I'd love to see retrains of zone eater/ swordsman. Something like: "Zone Swordsman" (Quick effect): You can discard this card: select one monster zone on your opponent's field. Any monster in that zone gains the following effect: "If this card is tributed or used as Extra Deck Material (for any monster), that monster that used it retains this effect (no matter which zone it is in): When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, take 1000 points of damage. If this card uses its effect, take 1000 damage. If this card leaves the field, take 1000 damage. During the fifth End Phase after this effect is activated, return this monster to the deck and, if you do, your opponent can special summon one "Zone Swordsman" from their graveyard, but skip their next draw phase. Then, negate any effects applied by "Zone Swordsman" for the rest of the duel.

if you use an unfortunate report with a cyber dragon deck it can help you with getting monsters into the grave yard to better summon chimeratech over dragon with overload fusion where it uses your field and graveyard to banish materials for the fusion summon

Perfectly Ultimate great moth is so much easier to summon now. Cocoon of ultra evolution can get it out by tributing an incest monster equipped with a spell card. So having it in an inzektor deck with it and cocoon of ultra evolution gets it out super fast.

Playing a red eyes deck with red eyes metal dragon was fun, and always nice when I pulled it off... but man having that brick in my hand always felt so horrible. #6 Could be great in a situation where you can get the effect to apply to yourself. Obviously having two battle phases is incredibly powerful, so it would make sense for it to be balanced by needing a convoluted set up to get it to bounce back to you or be played on your opponent's side.

Use case for Card Shuffle: Your opponent is playing a blinged-out, ridonkulously expensive deck. You play some kind of trash, and absolutely VIOLATE your cards in the pre-game shuffle. Then you activate Card Shuffle, and demand to shuffle your opponents deck. They may just concede out of fear...

To say that Dark Artist's effect has no value is not entirely correct. If Cyber End Dragon attacks a Defense-positioned Dark Artist, you can tribute Time Thief Chronocorder to reflect battle damage back to him. In this case, Dark Artist helped to inflict 3300 damage instead of 2600.

Savage Coliseum with unfortunate report maybe? It forces your opponent to attack or else there moster get destroyed and mirror force backrow?

Fusionist is an instant fusion target for decks that need extenders like beasts or level 3. It's actually a good card. Perfectly ultimate great moth can be cheated out of the deck thanks to a newer spell. Bad cards are not what they seem.

pretty good vid. Card shuffle could be useful against Adamancipator decks since their whole Gimmick is placing desired cards on the the top of the deck. That doesn't make it a good card by any means, but that's better than cold feet imo.

For Great Moth didn't they a year ago release support cards that make summoning Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth much easier?

Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth was awesome in one of the Yu-Gi-Oh video games (I can't remember which one) It lowered every monster on the field Atk by 100 every turn

Great Moth now has Coccoon of Super Evolution, so there's that, though they need to make a final retrain with a kickass effect. As for Unfortunate Report? Two words: Mystical Refpanel. Same with Cold Feet. There's your usefulness

Card shuffle can be useful in conjunction with colloquial of nature. This continuous spell card flips both decks. Now you can see what you and your opponent are going to draw. If you see something you don't want your opponent to have, it can be used. Unlikely however.

You know, I feel bad for the dead pharaoh; I mean, Power Creep exists and back when he dueled, there was dodging and other strategies you can do directly with your monster. And you can even strengthen your monster with your spirit. Things that didn't exist during the GX era... they could have made him suck without making him a fraud... It would have been a great example of rules changing and power creep.

I'm going to talk about possible uses for a number of cards on this list. 8. Fusionist Instant fusion. If you for some reason need a level 3 earth beast fusion monster, you can play 1 card to easily summon it out of the fusion deck and have access to it immediately. Several weak fusion monsters have seen play specifically because of instant fusion so it's not out of the realm of possibility that the specific attributes of this fusion monster could come in handy for say, a deck that could use either earth beasts for synchro plays or use fusion monsters for link plays. 6. Unfortunate Report I actually played around with a deck that ran this card in the side deck. It was a yubel deck that ran cards like savage colosseum and battle mania to force opponents to attack, Unfortunate report just sped up the process and acted like an additional copy, possibly killing the opponent before they had a chance to draw a card to out one of my cards. This speed focus especially helps considering the forced tribute effect of yubel that put you on a timer unless you had a way to get out her upgraded versions. 5/2. Cold feet and Pot of Generosity Lumping these together since there's one thing to say about it, Mystical Refpanel, this allows you to reverse the effects of these spells back on your opponent. Now is this great? No, but Cold feet basically becomes an upgraded cold wave that doesn't lock you out of your cards but locks your opponent out anyway, at the cost of an extra card, or with pot of generosity, you go -2 to make your opponent go -2, which depending on their hand size could make them have to discard something very important like an ash blossom. 4. Card Shuffle This is a really bad card, but there is one good use for it, specifically by pairing it with another bad card called Convulsion of Nature, which forces both players to play with their decks flipped upside down so both players can see the next draw of each other. Since Card shuffle specifies you can choose which player to shuffle the deck of instead of blindly shuffling both, you can use this as a way to either shuffle back a bad card on the top of your deck or shuffle back a good card on the top of your opponent's deck, possibly even shuffling to try and line up other cards that combo with Convulsion like Conscription, or even the multitude of cards that let you basically just draw a card if you guess the top card of your deck correctly. Side note, it's still a terrible deck because you are relying solely on a continuous spell card that does nothing by itself and has no protection, but once it starts running, it actually is hilariously effective.

Pot of generosity can be useful in Malefic decks because the main monsters must be summoned by banishing the originals from the deck

To be fair Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon can kinda be used in conjuction with graveyard interaction so for example you bring back the normal Red Eyes to now have 2 big bodies, i think that one isnt quite as bad as the other ones. Dark Artist was probably intended to maybe combo with some card that wants 1000 or lower DEF, but i have no idea what that would be.

Scape ghost is even a LV1 tuner, making it super useful!

Here are my thoughts on these cards: 10: There's a reason why Snowman Eater and Man Eater Bug exist. 9: Unless you have a Link 1 or Link 2 Link monster or a Rank 1 or Rank 2 Xyz monster for this, you're better off with something else. 8: 4 words - Worst...fusion...monster...ever. 7: Please! I can get rid of it with a basic trap card very easily. 6: Don't bother putting this one in your deck. 5: Seriously. Who thought this was a good idea? 4: If you use it while you have Solemn Wishes in play, you could go on spamming it every turn. 3: The only way to get around it if you draw it is to play Re-Load. 2: This is why Re-Load exists, people. 1: That is just pathetic!

To be fair, you can summon Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth straight from the deck with Cocoon of Ultra Evolution. There are much better insects to special summon from the deck with Cocoon of Ultra Evolution, I'm just saying it's not *total* trash anymore.

Unfortunate report: if you use light law medium to force your opponent’s monsters to attack light law medium and then llm can negate one attack and inflict half of that attacking monster’s attack. If you use llm with unfortunate report you can deal some pretty big damage and I don’t think your opponent can do much about it

At school for a while (about 17 years ago now) we had the ante of taking a card of choice if you won, coupled with no deck building restrictions at all. So people got upset building my fire deck, playing things like gravity bind and burn spells coupled with 37 pots of greed. Good times. Thank you old starter decks.

9:50 An unfortunate report: Could be used with Timelords and Savage Colosseum. Timelords, wants to attack and wants to be attacked. Good things happen when Timelords attack. Savage Colosseum force your opponent and yourself to attack. An Unfortunate report makes your opponent attack twice. Suddenly "an Unfortunate report" is not such a bad card. 11:05 Cold feet: Could be used in conjunction with any continuous spell/trap card you played that gives both players negative effects. This card could be used with cards like "Dark snake syndrome" or "Skill drain". For one turn you could have a benefit by just not being weighed down by your own effects. This card could also effectively trap people, because suddely you have an advantage when it's their turn, because your negative effects will be gone and your opponent will still have them. Cold feet + Mystical Refpanel = Opponent can't use spells/traps.

Card shuffle is really useful when playing cards like Dark Magical Cirlcle that allow you to see what cards are coming up in your next few draws. Don't like the cards on top of your deck? Shuffle it!

cold feet can be used to temporarily disable your continuous spell and trap cards. Like if your running mirror wall/fairy box you can use it to temporarily disable the card so that you don't have to pay to keep fairy box/ mirror wall in play. You could also use it to temporarily disable something like level limit area B or dragon capture jar on your turn letting you use your dragons and high level monsters that turn but after the turn ends all your lockdown cards turn back on.

So, it would have been interesting to hear how you'd have improved the cards on this list, as well as a bit of the meta from when they were released. For instance, your first two cards would be VASTLY improved if the number of turns for the effect to happen was reduced. say... 2 turns after the attack. This forces your opponent to do something with that monster fast, or risk losing them.. Maybe forcing them out of their strategy. Also, if I recall one or both of those were almost 1st series cards. Duels back then weren't nearly as fast paced. Nor were the attack and defense values very high on average.

Sure, you draw from the bottom so you can always see what each other is drawing, but could someone please tell me what deck would run such a useless card?

I once had a duel that went on for almost 200 turns because I kept shuffling my opponent's Graveyard into their deck with Lazion The Timelord, while shuffling cards back into my deck with Jar Of Avarice and The Transmigration Prophecy.
