Funny thing I've seen a few times in Master Duel, is that one of the greatest and funniest counters to Maxx "C" has been running Card Destruction after summoning a ton with decks like Stardust that Synchro-spam. It usually is hard to counter once you have a board of Stardust negates as they are forced to deck out.

Imperial Order for more than one errata that wasn't touched on. They didn't just make its payment mandatory. They added an extra payment by forcing it on EACH standby phase instead of on your own standby phase.

Magical Scientist was not just an FTK, although that was likely the primary reason behind it's banning. It was just too good in-general since it allowed a tool box to get you through whatever situation you were in. Ryu Senshi gave you outs if your opponent was sitting on a trap card, Thousand Eyes Restrict to get rid of a monster, Dark Balter to hit into a face down monster, Super Roboyarou/Dark Flare Knight to get over Berserk Gorilla. It also could help end the game with a United We Stand.

Another aspect of Fiber Jar is that it does *not* reset anything banished, so any player who activated Desires doesn't get their 10 cards back, for an example.

Seeing how many cards became broken after Link Monsters released, i imagine the format where Link first came out was extremely wild

12:40 fun fact, in the game “Yugioh legacy of the duelist: link evolution” summon sorceress is glitched, you can only ever summon a monster to the far left zone (if summoning to your field), no matter where sorceress was placed or if the zone was already occupied. If it was occupied the monster in the zone vanished entirely, it wouldn’t even go to the graveyard or deck or anything😂

Level Eater could definitely come back if it gets the errata, cannot be used for Link summoning. It’d still be a great card but not exactly broken anymore. That’s what I’m hoping for, I miss the little guy.

I think Fiber Jar needs a retrain called 'Fibre Jar' which, upon being flipped up, resets each player's hand, field, GY, banish zone & LP, and resets the turn counter back to 0 and any lingering effects applying to either player like Reckless Greed's draw skip. A _true_ reset in gamestate.

I remember a little while back when I did a progression series with a friend, I pulled two Fiber Jars and decided to try a Fiend Comedian banish mill deck. The goal was to get them to use as many cards as possible before they attack a set Jar, flipping the Fiend Comedian on attack declaration. If you miss the coin flip, the duel would just be a little longer. The match lasted over two hours and the deck failed, but it did make for a good comedic afternoon.

I’d like to see some deep cuts on specific formats, or time periods. “Top ten cards during this era of the game” like a Time Capsule into what players prioritized in deck building back then.

Triple tactics talent is an interesting card, because it has 3 game winningly powerful effects, in a format where its easy to fulfill its requirements. The only real restriction that keeps it off the banlist is the hard once per turn. Really shows how powerful not being once per turn is

Interesting thing about Level Eater was that it was banned in the OCG long before Link Monsters were a thing because it made summoning powerful Synchro Monsters far too easy and consistent in that format. People would use it to turbo out Psyframelord Omega to repeatedly rip cards out of their opponent's hand for example.

Insane that Shock Master is banned because it stops you from being able to play yet Kashtira is a thing... Lock you out of your zones, banish any extra deck monster you want, banish all your cards from your deck face down, then when a card is banished it attaches itself to Arise-Hart as material. But yeah, fear the shock master.

I am surprised Painful Choice is not on the list.

I never understood why Fiber Jar is considered as one of those Stall cards. It doesn't reset the duel back to one. Lifepoints you lost had still been lost and (albeit, this is more modern duels) any cards that were removed from play stay removed. However, what would probably help is if the card was erataed so that it gets removed from play itself rather than being reshuffled into the deck with all of the other cards.

Seeing level eater on the banlist is so painful because it would be such an easy card to errata. Just have it lock your Extra deck into synchros for the (rest of the) turn. It would still be a crazy card, but only in the way it was originally intended. Or maybe I'm wrong and it would still be broken. I just hope we'll get to find out one day

Maxx C is so format warping that not only do OCG decks have to play specific counters for it but decks live and die by how they handle it. Red Eyes Dark Dragoon engine was tier 1 in OCG because it put a powerful boss on the board in just a few summons. It was only just fine in the TCG but only because the TCG can spam like crazy to get to better bosses for a similar number of resources without getting punished as hard (still gotta watch out for Nibiru though!)

In regards to Forceful Sentry, I think it's interesting that in Magic: the Gathering there's a card called Grief that lets you discard it, and another black card in your hand, to look at your opponent's hand and make them discard a non-land card. Grief is net card disadvantage for the player using it, and it can't target lands (the resource you play in order to be able to play other cards), and yet Grief is an extremely powerful card to the point of warping the whole meta. Part of this is because of how land and mana works in MtG which generally limits your ability to play stronger cards early.

How about "cards that overwrite rules" something like double summon that let's you do 2 summons one turn, because the rules say you can only normal summon or set once per turn, or cards like macrocosmos that banish instead of sending to gy, or fusion cards that don't use polymerization,and so on

The people who are saying this aged poorly literally need to re-read 0:20-0:23 seconds. Summon Sorceress literally got a change, hence the unban.

I usually like decks that can special summon consistently from the hand, deck, or graveyard, even if they aren't exactly a swarm archetype. So my usual counter when Maxx "C" is activated? Just go ahead and keep my special summoning going. If my opponent is using Maxx "C" to discourage me from setting up my field by padding out their hand, then they likely have other ways to get the cards they need where they need to be anyway, so why not just set my winning strategy up while I'm able? If they can't do anything to me even with me basically giving them free cards, great, the victory is mine. If my field is toppled by even just one of the cards I gave them, then them's the brakes.

I’m part of the Pro Maxx-C faction. Most of the anti cards are already going to be run since they’re just generically good cards, and it punishes the combo-heavy players instead of letting them have free reign. Also, too many decks can just play through it anyway. Plus it’s funny if you deck out someone after they play the C.

Here's my take on how these cards could possibly come off the banlist if possible. Fiber Jar - It's a hilarious card, but its lack of requirements make it too easy to resolve. Having to jump through 50 hoops for the reset is a bit too much with just an errata, so the original Fiber Jar should stay banned, but a heavily nerfed retrain would be cool to see. Forceful Sentry - The main issue with this one is the fact that any disruptions or playmakers in your opponent's hand just disappear. I think that skipping to the End Phase could potentially work, as that way it would function similarly to using Ash Blossom on a searcher, but without the chance of recursion. It could come back at 1 if it had a big restriction on it like skipping to the End Phase. Other than that, I don't see a way this can come off. Level Eater - The issue is that it's too easy to spam and make massive boards. Junk Speeder would have the same problem if it didn't lock you into Synchros from the Extra Deck for the turn. I think a HOPT or banish when it leaves the field in addition to locking you into Synchros from the Extra Deck can allow Level Eater to come back in some capacity. Shock Master - Even making it a HOPT and only last until the end of the turn it's used would still be too broken. Unless it got an errata or retrain that simply negated the next card of that type the opponent activates, Shock Master is likely staying banned. Soul Charge - Same with Forceful Sentry. It's too cracked as it is now even with its current restrictions. Perhaps if it locked you out of special summoning for the rest of the turn after you use it would work at 1 copy per deck? Simply nuking the summoned monsters during the EP would do nothing to hurt its viability. Red Reboot - As much as I like this card, I think it should stay banned. It can't really be errata'd without the lockdown of traps for the turn or its hand activation effect. Summon Sorceress - Simply locking you into the type of the monster you summon won't work for letter her off the banlist. Somebody else mentioned limiting your summons to 3 after the effect activates, which could potentially work, and Summon Sorceress would still see a fair amount of play with this new effect. If she came off at 1 with that effect, it could work out. Imperial Order - Yeah, this one can stay banned. Magical Scientist - The way it is now, it's just Cyber-Stein on steroids. I think a HOPT and returning to the ED when the monster leaves the field could work, but even then, that's a stretch. I'm not sure the OG could come off, but a retrain could work. Maxx "C" - When it comes to the TCG, I believe it should stay banned. But, in theory, if it WERE to become unbanned with some kind of nerf, I think limiting the number of draws you can make with the effect to around 2 could work, with 1 copy per deck. Again, that's a stretch and I think Maxx "C" should simply stay how it is in all existing formats. Please don't wage war in the replies, I'm just theory-crafting here.

When you speak about Shockmaster, you talk about how it would effect current meta and how it would stop your opps handtraps but at the same time it also stops your effects as well. even during that time period I remember alot of people having that miscommunication on how the card works

I do find it interesting that despite how much Fiber Jar is hated we still get much weaker versions of it in Rainbow Bridge of Salvation and the Sword Emperor spirit monster from time to time that completely reset the board state. So clearly Konami is OK with these cards existing as long as they happen once in a blue moon

I prefer Maxx "C" being banned. It's way too broken and not fun at all to play against. Maxx "C" is kinda the reason why I don't play Master Duel anymore.

I don't mind Maxx C since its counters are also great cards for general use and they don't turn intro bricks in case MaxxC doesn't show up. Ash Blossom and Called by the Grave, for example, are still useful in any deck. But I agree that seeing every deck having these cards reduces the diversity in deck building

with fiber jar it actually would advance the game state as the number of cards that remove from play in a duel on average is a lot more than what it used to be, and fiber jar doesn't return remove from play cards so it would be an interesting card to play if their opponent has removed a lot of their card from play in a massive combo. a flipping of fiber jar would essentially destroy parts of their combo as few of their piece have been removed from play. but the fiber jar would need to add an erata that add the stipulation that fiber jar must be removed from play as a part of the effect resolution.

If ive learned anything in the 13 years ive been playing yugioh, its that eventually every card will be off the ban list. Power creep is melting this game.

It's interesting that this video popped up in my recommended today of all days. Konami announced a new OCG Banlist effective from April 1st where Summon Sorceress was unlimited with an errata, which probably means it's coming back to TCG and Master Duel soon too.

I'll never forget the good old days of soul charge and dark matter dragon.

When I was a kid I played a deck I liked to call "Fiber Jar Resource Denial". Basically removing my opponent's cards from the game over and over while digging for Fiber Jar and even using Book of Taiyou to flip it up on my turn to avoid Nobleman of Crossout. The name of the game was to repeatedly refresh cards in hand and deck, while decreasing the number of good cards left to my opponent each time. By the end of the duel, the opponent would be left sitting there with cards they couldn't win with. This was effective, but it was also heinously time consuming and everyone hated the deck.

If level eater were just errata’d to say that it can’t be used as link material, it would solve SO MUCH about that card.

Back around 2005, I ran Fiber Jar in my favorite deck. it focused on banishing monster cards, then using Fiber Card for the reset to have a clear field for my modest monsters like Kycoo the Ghost Destoryer to get direct attacks. I'd use cards like Mirror Force, Lightning Vortex and like the like to blow up multiple cards at once, then use Soul Release to banish 5 at a time from the GY. Back then, there weren't any good options to getting banished cards back, so the losses were pretty much permanent. Then they released DD Dynamite and Soul Release got even more powerful and Fiber Jar would let me use them even more since Fiber Jar doesn't return banished cards back to the deck.

Maxx "C" might not be as bad if it was errata'd to make it so the draws happen only at the end of the turn. It'd still be broken but at least you wouldn't have to be as concerned about hand traps as you would be with the current version.

Yeah like the number 3 reason for me no longer playing Master Duel is Maxx "C", I just think it's a poorly designed card that shouldn't be legal

Honestly, Maxx C really doesn't seem bad in Master Duel. It is a good check against the sweaty combo decks that in the end are just frail glass cannons that fall to interruptions. If you can't play around interruptions, your deck isn't that strong. Maxx C just exposes the weakness of decks that have gotten away with it for so long just because interruptions aren't as consistent in TCG by comparison.

Level eater can get unbanned if it’s reprinted with an errata. Red Reboot is fine if limited since there’s now tons of floodgates. Maxx C is a 50/50 since OCG and master duel gets there’s and we do not, but it’s still one of the controversial cards in the game.

I feel like fiber jar probably is more perma banned for unsportsman like conduct potential than its just potential to stall the game. Its for the same reason tho...

No Painful Choice? It's 1 of the few cards that only got stronger and stronger as time passed. It's so strong, that the positive effect of the card (adding a card to your hand) is now the negative part of the card, not because that part got weaker (because it didn't, getting to add a card from 5 selections is still incredibly powerful), but because the should-be-negative part just keeps getting better and better all the time.

Surprised you didn't bring up that new numbers spell card that summons one number from the extra deck by doing addition, and then gives it like 4 materials. Shock master can never exist at the same time as this card.

So the reason Flip monsters aren't good anymore is cuz of target destruction right? I was kind of wondering if attacking a Flip monster auto-flipped it or if that was a house rule back when I played 20 years ago. Man-Eater Bug went crazy.

Kinda sounds like including Maxx "C" and the counterplay to it in those formats is like including lands in your Magic deck...

The definite solution to the Maxx C debate is simple. After Maxx C is activated, statistically, the one who activated it, is highly more likely to win then to loose. Even in decks built around Maxx C existing. Thus, the card isnt a staple. Its THE meta. And a card with that kind of power needs to be removed. A card that alone,no matter the deck, makes you more likely to win then lose, by just playing it, does not belong in a compeditive cardgame.

As a Master Duel player: I don't mind Maxx C and simply ignore its existence. Don't play it either since people tend to play too many counters to one card that then is just dead and the opponent has to play dead cards himself. So why bother?

10. Fiber Jar being errata'd to being a Once per Duel effect would HEAVILY nerf it, I think.

Why does nobody point out the other broken part about Summon Sorceress? She can summon any monster you want to your opponent’s field, making her an insane enabler for ftk’s. Branded players have to use Expulsion and can only do their degeneracy during the draw phase of the next turn, and they need to use it in a Branded deck. For Summon Sorceress, any deck can grab a degenerate card like Ido and summon it to your opponent’s field. They can also get cards like Gellenduo to give it to your opponent during your turn so you can continue your ftk without having to wait a turn.

Maxx "C" deserves to be unbanned specifically because of the way it counters the weird bloat of (near-)generic extenders that has allowed so many TCG decks to play turn 1 solitaire.

This time, I'll pitch two ideas: 1. "Top 10 Power Crept Cards That Still See Play【Updated for 2023】." 2. "Top 10 Best Kinds of Card Effects【Updated for 2023】." (This would list effects that consistently win tournaments in the modern era, meaning that instant-win effects should be excluded and GY effects should be in the top 5.)

I think the only way for Level Eater to return is if they give it an errata where it can't be used as a Link Material.

I'm pro-Maxx "C" because of the exact same reasons everyone who plays TCG hates its existence: the Decks it stops from playing stop other Decks from playing with the floodgate known as "4+ Negate Effect monsters on board"

Wouldn’t fiberjar be useful for strategies like gren maju or thunder dragons that revolve around banishing your cards on purpose so that your resetting the hand deck and graveyard doesn’t ruin your set up but does hurt your opponent making it not a stall and instead a tool to gain advantage

I think it's ironic that they banned red reboot considering it's one of the only viable counters to cards like Infinite Impermanence and Evenly Matched

As a Cyber Dragon player, i will *DEEPLY* miss Red Reboot. It won me several games and would often come up to my hand. It is the most badass card ever, i played against VW and they used a strike against my Chimeratech but i said "NO" and chained RR, winning the game as opponent's face was in utter shock like he saw a ghost. Truly my most remarkable RR moment on locals. My favourite card too given how STRONG it is.

Fiber jar + metaphys shenanigans would be ridiculous

I remember making someone tableflip someone with my Fiber Jar deck that was specifically meant to get it out in any way possible while also grinding the opponents graveyard to the banished card zone.
