in the US, they're not as firmly entrenched in the public consciousness as a solid place to score that first cup of the day as they are in Canada. still, Tim Horton's has defeated Dunkin Donuts in Canada and the last three DD was forced to change names a year ago

@@drgnslayers I live in Michigan and there is a Tim Hortons on every damn corner here. Near where I live we just got our first Dunkin Donuts. As long as it's not Starbucks I'm fine with it.

Dutch bros. is in 7 states currently and started in Grants Pass Oregon (i.e. CA, OR, WA, NV, ID, AZ, CO) and we are still growing with plans to move further east

My favorite coffee place is Minuti Coffee with several locations in Texas. They have a unique strategy to Franchising. Potential franchisers must first work as a Manager in an established store before thery are allowed to open their own. Which makes a lot of sense really. They are affilliated with an existing coffee shop chain in Italy as well.

I can testify that Dunkin' isn't very good, but literally only in America because they have boring, oily/too sugary donuts. I recently went to the Phillipines and the brand is much more diverse, fresh and not overly sugary. If you ever have the chance, try the same brands you like outside of the country you live in! There's a reason why foreigners say our food is usually too sweet or too salty.

Dunkin Donuts is a donut shop that sells coffee, so not really a "coffee chain"? Its more popular on the more populated east coast - where peopled don't like strong coffee as much (or are confused, and think its "burnt"). Hint, all coffee is made from "roasted" beans, so its all "burnt" to some extent.

Never had Tim Hortons before. PJ's coffee from New Orleans is very good, and I don't see how Dunkin Donuts received #1. Their coffee has changed over the years.

I'm liking the food related stuff in the morning cuz I can see where people are indecisive about what they should have for breakfast, where they should go etc. So these videos help alot. Ok so in my country at least as far as I have been which tbh isn't that far, as I mentioned Starbucks came here fairly recently but we have a place called Cafe Blue. Also I've seen McCafe machines around here as well as Nescafé which I thought would be on the list but I'm guessing that's not a coffee chain in the US but more like a brand. You should do Top 10 Frozen Yogurt/ice cream chains in the U.S. I know Tutti Frutti is here in Jamaica so I would love to know if that's also a thing in the U.S

Aye 2 Oregon Coffee places made it on here. Dutch Bros (Based in Grant's Pass, OR) and Stumptown (based in Portland, OR) Peets actually bought Stumptown but they maintain two separate identities.

Even though I'm a Canadian that doesn't really like Tim Hortons for its coffee anymore (cold drinks and food is fine), I'm still surprised it's not even an honourable mention here. Yes it originated in Canada, but it's American owned now, and you did say "the chain doesn't have to be exclusive to the US to make this list".

I'm not from US but 5 of 10 of the list is avialable which is number 8,7,6,2 and 1. Dunkin Donut maybe famous in US but not really in my country compare to Starbuck which been owned by one biggest company in my country, Malaysia. This mean whatever part of Malaysia your go, your will guarantee find Starbuck easily compare the other where your only get easily at Kuala Lumpur / Klang Valley only.

There is a big logical reason why tim horton didnt make the list. It maybe huge in Canada, due to lack of decent competition, but it isnt as popular here. I was expecting DD to win because it's always been the common people's coffee, its not niched like starbucks is with the word gourmet and alot cheaper which makes it more accessible to more people. My Starbucks costs be 4.50 USD. Same coffee at DD costs me 2.75 USD. That allows me to get a snack with the extra 1.75.
