Avalon and Hexo crab is all yo need for permit in Cuba.

Specifically for Yucatan & Belize, about how big should a permit crab body be? I’m referring to typical crabs like Merkin, EP, Bauer, etc. About the size of a Dime? Penny? Nickel? Quarter? Bigger? Is it seasonal? Trying to tie my own for an upcoming trip.

Permit crabs are typically large, size 4-1/0. If I were you I would contact your guide or lodge to get specifics, on your location, time of year, and their experiences.

Del Brown first tied the Merkin in the mid-80s. Not sure how he came up with the name, unfortunately!
