Personally I’ve always loved Jungle Joyride from Sonic Unleashed I wish that level would get more love

Red Mountain should've been remade in Generations. It's the most underrated stage in 3D sonic history tbh.

Rooftop runs from Unleashed is still and always will be one of the best sonic stages in the sonic series. (For me at least.)

As someone who only played the wii version of unleashed, I feel like I'm missing out on a lot. And I'm glad Red Mountain got some love. Its not one of my favorite levels personally but I fully agree that its design is underrated

I think Wave Ocean/Flame Core/Kingdom Valley deserve a spot on the list too. But yes! Rooftop run! I like to call Rooftop Run the peak of modern sonic. That moment when you ride the rail down the clock tower. Not one single moment has come close to being as good as that in the last 10 years. That moment really was the peak of modern sonic.

My favorite level is Emerald Coast. As it was a great start off level, plus it is one of the only level with two suns in act one.

That one bit in the music in jungle joyride is one of my favourite bits of music in any sonic game and you know the bit i'm talking about the day stages in sonic unleashed i could literally play all day, those levels are so so good. I'd argue that the section where you slide down the tower in rooftop run is made so much more beautiful in gens with the colourful balloons and it blows me away every time. Also i quite like a handful of the sonic forces levels but that's just because i like holding down boost and going speedy. lol. nice list, the satisfaction of absolutely nailing a boost level is a feeling replicated nowhere else for me.

I'm surprised Green Forest wasn't on the list. The music blends with the level really well, (the music sync in the beginning is outstanding) and the vine mechanics make this level different from anything else we have seen in this series.

Somehow I knew Rooftop Run was going to be your number 1. It is a really good stage. In terms of music I prefer the nightime stages of Unleashed a bit more.

Windmill Isle Act 2 is the best level I think. At first, you might struggle to get a grip on it, but, when you revisit there after you beat the game, you can literally go through the stage as the crow flies without consciousness. This development feels just magnificent.

Unleashed and generations have some of the best level design and some of the greatest sonic games in my opinion

Most of the times I agree but (and this is my opinion) speed highway and city escape are better in generations

Sonic unleashed's levels are amazing. They make you forget the fact u are playing in an off-brand country desigmed level. And the music is just the chef's kiss in my opinion.

I liked this video mostly because of the inclusion of Red Mountain. That to me is probably the closest thing to 3D Sonic perfection. I love the way the tone of the level changes but both versions of the stage are amazing. The music too, is so good. But most of all I love how much it reminds me of 2D Sonic. The rising lava reminds me of all those 2D levels where the floor is rising or the lava is rising or what not. The badniks are just like the badniks from the 2D games but they work so well in 3D too. There's so much 2D style platforming and all kinds of gadgets like hand slides and rockets etc. The floor is exploding, you're flying in the air and avoiding obstacles. It's all there, not to mention the different pathways. Other than that though it's a little surprising to me that there's no 2D levels here. And including both the generations version and the Unleashed version of Rooftop Run is an interesting choice. But it's your list so I'm not complaining. 😄

Finally someone that shares my opinion on the fact that rooftop run is the best sonic level in so in history.

We absolutely share the same number 1, and I don't even care how generic it sounds! Rooftop Run is the *perfect* Sonic level. Perfect tone, atmosphere, music, presentation, stage length, level design - the works. The *only* thing I don't like are the enemy chaser sections, though I just use the QSS on those anyways so I don't care hahaha

I've gotten S on all 3 of the Unleashed stages mentioned. The key is to not die or take damage throughout the entire level while going through at maximum speed.

Surprised about no Egg Fleet, the atmosphere alone is enough to make my top 3

My favorite is jungle joyride because its tests all my abilities and it feels like and adventure, from a village, to a forest, to ruins, to the gaia temple, its amazing

Eggmanland is underrated ngl. My favorite sonic level. Yes ik its hard but with enough level studying, i was able to have fun with it despite its difficulty. Also it has some really good music. I find the difficulty to be perfect for a final level.

I can pretty much 100% agree with you, but I think Kingdom Valley from Sonic 06 should have a place on this list. I know the game was bad, but all in all, It’s a really fun stage. And damn Rooftop Run (Unleashed) deserved place one on the list

here's mine: 10. Green Hill (Sonic Mania) - where do I begin? THIS ZONE IS AN ABSOLUTE BANGER its a compleatly fine starter level and its an improvement to the original Green Hill zone which Green Hill is nowhere close to being in the top 10 or even top 50! the best out of all of them besides one.. 9. Seaside hill (Sonic Heros) - this is the only level in sonic heros that I actually like! and ITS AMAZING it is my favorite starter level in the entire game and its just, look its good and its definitly one of my favorites, moving on 8. Rooftop Run (sonic generations) - this shouldn't be much of a suprise conciddering Rooftop Run from both games is a bot, I dont even have to explain it and you guys probobly love this zone, listen this zone is good weather you like it or not 7. Dragon Road (Sonic Unleashed) where do I begin? This level is GREAT! its amazing its got BANGER MUSIC, I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW GOOD IT IS AND THE BOSSFIGHT IS DECENT, my favorite part about this level is the.. OH MY GOD THE LEVEL DESIGN IS PERFECT! Moving on 6. Jungle Joyride (Sonic Unleashed) - im not gonna explain much, this zone is amazing its SUPER GOOD AND ITS JUST AN ABSOLUTE BANGER!!!!! This level's soundtrack goes.. SO SOSOSOSOSOSOO HARD, it has my favorite song in the entire game (daytime) and its almost perfect, look if you know this level, you know its fire. Moving on 5. City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2) - where do I start? this level is SO GOOD, the skateboarding section is almost perfect and everything in the level is almost perfect!! If you know this level you know its fire, Im not even gonna continue explaining! You already know its good and if you hate it, your lieing 4. Press Garden (Sonic Mania) - HOLLY SHOOT THIS LEVEL IS AMAZING, I cannot believe how good press garden is, the level design is great, the level looks butifull and the bossfight is alright, its my favorite sonic classic level of all time! 3. Ice Cap (Sonic 3 and Knuckles) - Oh my god this and #4 were SO FREAKING HARD TO DETERMINATE WHICH GOT #3 OR #4, imo these are both tied at #3 and they are such good levels. Lets talk about Ice Cap. THIS ZONE IS PERFECT!!!!!!!! The snowboarding section is awesome, the level design is perfect and the music is shreaded heat and the best part is everything its the best ok? if you played this level, ya know its good 2. Seaside Hill (Sonic Generations) - HOLLY SHOOT THIS LEVEL IS PERFECT, It just makes me smile talking about this level, even though I dont have much to say about this level, I will say this: this level is the best in the entire series besides one... 1. Surprised green forest from sa2 wasnt on this list. I wouldve probably replaced the rooftop run from generations with green forest as u had the og rooftop run. My personal favorite level is either jungle joyride or final rush.

I have a huge love for Aquatic Capital and I wanna know what it would look like in a HD/CGI Version, a render of the stage would tide me over until a full HD/CGI Version of SRZG comes along.

I'd add Shadow or Sonic Kingdom Valley. That stage got robbed for not being in Generations.

Roofftop Run is the GOAT for me. Kingdom Valley is really good and Seaside Hill are amazing and many more but Roofttop Run is number one for me.
