Among the most powerful of any player abilities in World of Warcraft is the stun, and today we will be taking a look at the top 10 stuns that have been removed from players and their pets. This list was made with the 2 criteria of the duration of the stun and the number of enemies it could stun.

In classic wow, warriors had a mace talent (I think) that they could spec into and had like a % to stun for a few seconds

Rogues and warriors both!! (Although more annoying with rogues cause attack speed) Hiru did do a video about it a while back talking about removed talents i believe.

@@yakee321123 the good ol'. I wasn't playing as much in TBC, vanilla I was literally the crack though. Thottbot was in my brain. Did some first down French in Naxxramas, and been a guild who killed KT before the preBC patch, I quit before that but Maexnna first FR I was there. What a fucking thrill, 14yo me being the reference all around my IRL friends

Mace spec is the optiomal pvp spec if u have MoM. People say corrupted ashbringer is better. But they sont realize how powerfull mom is and The ability tk stun. I do understand why some don't have it cause it drops from kt.

Plz do hardest hunter pets to get. I remember there was one pet you needed to get lots of haste and shaman bloodlust to tame it. Or cool pets like the ghost wolf in Easter plaguelands that had a sword in its head

The one that needed haste and bloodlust was also a ghostwolf that was summoned by an enemy only for 8 seconds,. You would need the haste and bloodlust to tame it before it despawned. It was the only ghost wolf availible at the time since the beastmasters spirit beasts did not get an equivelent for a long time

I feel like shadowfurry deserved more than a passing mention, AOE damage and stun with a decently short cool down and is still in the game just without the damage component, was a really good ability in Wrath where you could dot up several targets with seed of corruption and use shadowfurry to pop them all at once.

10:10 Fists of Fury was such a significant DPS ability that it was almost never utilized in the PvE rotation of Windwalker Monks because it was just shit DPS-wise. There was a like a list of 10 things that you needed to check before FoF was worth pressing.

Hmmm Warrior's Throwdown ability from Cataclysm? the tooltip said 5 sec stun , was about 3 sec + not really 5 . It was much better than Intercept aaaanddd was one of the best pvp abilities warrior had , like ever . Throwdown + burst and bladestorm could actually kill 60%-70% of the time , especially if the target was cloth wearing class . EDIT : Tooltip --- Knocks the target to the ground and stuns it for 5 sec

I really miss Blackout on SPs, 10% chance for a 3s stun on every shadow spell, combined with mind flay it was the bane of every melee.

What about the Shale Spiders pet ability for hunters? it also came with the kings buff with the 4 secs full stun

The wording for the Paladin's Seal of Justice sounds like the stun could be applied multiple times with the spell's melee refresh component, making the stun lasting far longer than the indicated 2 second in the tooltip. So, having it be changed to a slow and later removed makes sense since it'd be an oppressively strong ability to use in PvP. Just my educated two cents on the matter.

I think people don't understand how insufferable CC was in MOP. One of the few things I do miss from MOP were the Warrior banners.

deep freez also hit like a fucking truck in raids as they are stun immune, even had an opener to pop 2 off using fingers then then pets aoe for a 2nd charge popping the cool to reset your nova and deep freeze.

The classic wow Mace was crafted and had a 10 second stun from a chance on hit. Surprised it's not on the list. It's still in classic wow

Kind of sad asphyxiate and binding shot and Remorseless Winter weren’t mentioned. Asphyxiate was a ranged 4 or 5 second stun. Binding shot stunned people that moved away from it. During WoD there was a glyph that allowed explosion trap to knock people away by a pretty significant amount and if doubled up you can AoE stun several people with solid range. Remorseless was a 6 second AoE stun that also slowed people around you on a semi short cooldown. Fun abilities.

you forgot warrior mace specialization which was a talent that existed in vanilla and TBC and i believe before it was removed in wrath. it gave autos with a mace a chance to stun the target, and i think it deserved a spot on this list over some of the others because it procced all the time and a lot of people complained about it. also another thing that i think was worth mentioning was that concussion blow and other warrior stuns were physical debuffs as opposed to magical ones, which made them better because there were much less abilities that could remove them. seal of justice was d*gshit.

Haven't played since Cata but Warrior intercept should be brought back and still a stun, incorporating stance dance, they can be kited so easy, and warriors have so little cc, other than slows that may be dodged, assuming usual agility scale, and dead zones, just like with paladin an auras, for optimal dps, using rogues as reference since you can be stunned for 10+ sec easily, standard rotation.

Fun fact about fist of fury that i loved and miss so dearly back in Mop. Not only did it stun everyone in pvp if you trinketed and the monk was still fisting you would get stunned AGAIN if you were still in its front cone. So if you got hit and were gotta die if you trinketed you would MAYBE get 1 global then get stunned again for half the duration. So the stun was like what 4 seconds? You trinket. Thats another 2 so the stun lasted a very long time it was great. This lasted for the entire expansion of mop and i’m surprised no one knew it. …god good times i got 2.4k in pvp as ww monk good times.

My Fury Warrior was practically an EarthQuake Shaman back in Cata as i used to carry 2 EarthShaker Mauls from Molten Core in my Inventory and they had a very high proc chance. I would often wield them when defending the bases in Tol'Barad and would spam WhirlWind causing multiple procs to occur and enemies to constantly get knocked down for 1 second. :P

You missed the most OP of all stuns of all time: Throwdown, added in cata, removed in mop. 5 second stun and for the first 1,5 seconds you cant trinket it.

Didn't in vanilla boars have dash and cats pounce? Gorillas had thunderclap or something, aoe damage but not stun

the boars' Charge was a root (or, immobilize), not a stun, and in vanilla Hunter cats didn't have Pounce, you might be mistaking it with the cat Druid ability or a later expansion instead. however, there was one way to make boars stun when they Charge: the BM's Intimidate talent gives your pet a buff that causes them to attempt to stun their target on their next attack, if you cast it before or just as the boar casts Charge, the boar might stun the target *and* root them with Charge.

@@siscokidderI probably always casted them together on initiation. I was always interested to find unviable but fun builds and make them work better than slacking with a cookiecutter. I remembered putting my cat pet in stealth on purpose and sending him out to attack before I engaged. A golden tiger with black stripes from STV. But I see the extra damage is build into the prowl ability and wasn't a separate skill. The patience we once had to have to give us every little edge trying not to get killed from open world trash enemies.

How is warriors "Throwdown" from cata not in this list? i remember that pretty darn well... it was so overpowered because the animation of your character being knocked down continued even though you trinketed the ability, meaning u had to wait no matter what for the animation to finish to cast stuff

What about the outlaw rog between the eyes in bfa, 25 sec cd 6 sec stun, you could get it down to 10 sec with the right roll the bones

Or paralytic poison. Since it wasn't an on cast stun, it shared no DR with kidney or cheap shot. The shiv root was also quite nice.

YES! BETWEEN THE EYES! Loved that stun! That with the Cannonball Barage is what made me switch from Sub to Outlaw. I wasn't into Brutality until they switched it to Outlaw and I've been loving it since.

I remember back in the day, Rogues could permastun anybody and anything. There were some pretty famous vids of a level 1 rogue going around killing max level players in world PvP with the starting dagger.

I think deep freezer seserv a higher spot since you used the stun to shatter your stuned target and if target could not be stunned like raidbosses it did insane dmg and was used on frost rotation. Both a stun and high dmg in same skill made it very usefull. on Theralion and Valiona deep freeze oneshoot the ads in the downphase on 25hc and made great aggo to pick up the ads when kiting the skelletons on Magmaw out of bossroom. I know its not a real stun but then old death and decay cover in fear proc when taking dmg from it is as close to a stun you get with just a diffrent wording

You never played pvp in Pandaria then, it was way worse in terms of CC. Every class had an interrupt, slow, and some sort of stun/disable

@@106adamm I see you played against mostly bad warriors in classic. Bad warriors are easy and kite-able, good warriors not so much. You know the warriors who saves rage for hamstring when you try to get distance on them, grenades what kind of wet paper towel warriors did you fight in classic, you dont have the time to use grenades really as you will most likely be dead.

We had a Lvl 60 wsg team back in vanilla before cross server, I was a druid flag carrier,I used green whelp armour which if I remember had a 10 second sleep proc which worked so well blizz nerfed it ,not the same as removing it but annoying lol

lol, "fun was detected and Blizzard acted accordingly", indeed most "balance" patches in Blizzard games are directed to remove fun stuff rather than adding more fun stuff to other clases, races or characters.
