Inventing metalbending was definitely her greatest moment. But a really great understated moment is when they're goofing off on Ember Island, and Toph reveals she's been working on her sandbending by making a scale model of Ba Sing Se, including mini Earth King and Bosco. To go from nearly completely helpless in the desert to such intricate control over an element that had stumped her shows that even earthbenders can adapt, as does her learning to bend metal. Not to mention the finesse and intricate level of control she has over all aspects of her bending abilities. You can see it most in her metalbending, where it starts out very rough, but has become so refined by the time of Legend of Korra that she can whip around chains. I also adore her reaction to her appearance in the Ember Island play. "I wouldn't have cast it any other way! :D "

Agree but I felt book 3 was too filler and made the finale felt rushed and predictable. Which they could've gone for firelord sooner than later with toph on their squad to stop a whole army with just team avatar 🤨

While Toph might be 'disabled', she doesn't let it define her and is one of, if not, the most powerful character in both shows. Now that's how you send a subtle yet powerful message in a children's show. Take notes future screenwriters. We need more characters like her.

She might be the personification of anyone whose sign is the tiger (1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010) , but she is different in her own way, and she doesn't let anything stop her. That's why I like her so much.

She did more than not let it define her, she took her blindness and turned it into a strength. She would have never learned how to see with her feet if it wasn't for the fact that she's was blind. Even with everyone saying her blindness made her weak and fragile, she made herself into an incredibly strong and independent girl that never let someone say she couldn't do something.

As a kid and now, I already liked Toph due to how fun and tough she is, especially during Sozin's Comet when she made a suit out of rock, but when she told Katara more of her backstory and about her parents, that’s when I knew she was one of my favorites of Team Avatar. Determined, adorable, but also a girl who had a depressing history in addition to being blind.

“Look here, sugar queen!” Best insult I’ve ever heard from Toph the moment she savagely insulted Katara from the camp for trying to help make her tent. She still is Melon lord, even at old age, she STILL is savage as hell and that’s make what made me love her even more. Seeing her train Korra in the swamp gives me The Empire Strikes Back, with Yoda and Luke in their own right. So many parallels in that season, it gives me so much Star Wars vibes. Update: more Avatar content is what I live for 👏👏👏👏

I'm visually impaired, growing up was tough. I feel a deep connection with toph and she helped me cope. She was a major role model in my life growing up. She inspired me to start training my ears to listen better, i scare people who try to sneak up on me. At some point I hope to cosplay as her.

My favorite was when Toph is figuring out metal bending while the Guru speaks. Him talking about how metal is nothing but well refined earth while Toph is using shockwaves to feel the individual particles was awesome

Toph HOLDING A MASSIVE LIBRARY up so that it wouldn't sink is so cool and underrated because she wasn't counteracting a natural occurrence- her bending was so strong as a child that she was using it to counteract the supernatural actions of an owl spirit. You could take that as her being as powerful as the owl spirit.

I honestly wanted to throw hands with Aang for yelling at Toph in the library episode. She couldn’t save Appa and the Gaang at the same time, so she prioritized saving the group over Appa. I get it why Aang was upset- he and Appa have a strong bond bc Appa is his animal counterpart- but at the same time, it was totally uncalled for when Aang snapped at her. And they got Appa back anyway! He wouldn’t have gotten him back if Toph hadn’t saved them in the first place!!!

I remember watching the finale for the first time, and I busting out laughing when Sokka, Suki, and Toph, were climbing on top of the fire nation blimps after steering them to crash. You see Toph going in the WRONG direction and Sokka has to pull her the other way. It was so funny to me! I also remember chills when Toph declared herself the greatest earth bender.

Toph's introduction episode was on par with Madara Uchiha's man, she came in and showed you that we not taking things to the next level, we taking it to the next next next level!! She stopped team Avatar from getting in the fight so she could fold SIX grown ass men and skilled benders by herself, for no other reason than to flex on everyone in attendance. Goat status right there lol

Toph holding up the library deserves to be way higher on the list. For once in her life she is completely disabled by her environment and STILL manages to hold up an entire building! If she had been able to see through the sand she definitely could have fought off the sandbenders too.

Toph is going to be a really interesting and maybe difficult character to cast when and if they get to her in the new live action Netflix show. She is so amazing and iconic, I really hope they do her justice. Maybe more so than any other character (except maybe Iroh. Iroh needs to be perfect!!!)

Maybe not the moment that springs to mind first for most because it doesnt show Toph being badass but... As Toph isnt just a ridiculously skilled bender, she's also a walking lie-detector and one of those moments i find to be truly great. In the episode where she and Katara try to bond and get a make-over, and those 3 girls act like shit to her, she gets her revenge and such, thats a nice part but.. I more enjoyed the moment after that, when she more or less wants to give up on "being pretty" and Katare tells he she IS pretty, Toph knows Katara isnt lying, i found that such a heartwarming scene that many people did not notice the importance of, this is when she realizes Katara is really a good friend. (you know, walking lie detector and such :P )

What's sad about Tales of Ba Sing Se is that it's also the final episode with Iroh's original actor because I think he passed away after the episode aired

Jessie Flower (the voice actor of Toph) did an awesome job. Although she had a script, she is just the greatest in the role of Toph.

The idea that Toph created metal bending was amazing and very useful in a fight or defense

It’s worth noting that Toph never really lost a fight in either series. Aang surprised her with air bending and the wrestler guys got the jump on her with the metal box, but once she starts swinging, no one touched her. Toph was a plot buster.
