I don't understand why Yamato is number 1. Sure it had powerful guns and strong armor, but it caused more problems than it solved. It had almost no contributions during the war except acting as a command base, draining needed resources, and greatly disappointing her crews, also it's AA was complete trash. The Iowa's though having a two inch smaller guns had a type of ammunition which had a penetration very similar to Yamato's, they had very advanced naval radar, extremely accurate targeting system and guns, high speed to stick with carriers, and were much cheaper to produce compared to the Yamato-class. If this was 10 most powerful battleships than it would make for sense for this list, though the top can be debated between Iowa-class and Yamato-class, but since we're looking for the best we need to take in not only it's abilities, but also it's performance during the war. When we take in the performance part the Yamato-class, Iowa-class, and Bismarck-class won't be the top three. I have no doubt that USS Texas of the New York-class would make the list though.

Can someone please mention the H class ships which were originally planned to initiate plan Z and the biggest was H44 which housed 20 inch guns which are massive but of course they are huge and would become a huge target but tirpitz was way more powerful than Bismarck since it had better armor and fire control

The Yamato rearly did anything throughout the war.... it was the Japanese Flagship and described as the largest ship ever built. But despite the fame it got from the Japanese people ...the Yamato was not active on the battlefield and was described as useless by the Japanese service men.... It was ultimately sung in 1945

Here’s the problem with the Iowa class now… it has nuclear tipped tomahawk cruise missiles and CWIS’s which will shred through just about any ship, including the Yamato, from a far distance, the Iowa can launch 4 tomahawks that can go to 1,700 miles without exploding mod-air, allowing it to destroy the Yamato in seconds.
