In the book Misery, she actually cuts off his foot and cauterizes the bloody nub. They dumbed it down for the movie, and even then it was brutal.

If I remember correctly, she cuts his foot off with an old saw and then uses an iron yo seal it and she dies it to both feet all the whilr telling him about the horses in kentuky and why they were hobbled

I’m glad misery was on here. There’s no gushing blood, no gratuitous ripping off of limbs. Etc. it’s not the same as the book, but it’s still terrifying, both for the physical AND psychological damage. A lot of Stephen Kings ‘horror’ is psychological, (yes, there is a lot of blood, too) and he knows how to ramp up the horror to scare you. A true master.

I love Stephen King but respectfully his "psychological horror" is some of the most generic I've seen, he does better when he just goes supernatural...like yeah IT plays with their minds but shit it's not the focal point nor is it done inventively, u scared of sumn, he uses it...thts easy writing, his endings will forever be meh, he's a great horror writer but psychological horror wise he's very very mid....and just bcuz a story has a few psyche cliches in it, doesn't make it psycho horror

I’ve accidentally cut my finger with a wire saw once and it hurt for days. My friend said he could see a bone. I regularly woodwork, so I’ve been sliced with machetes, knives, saws, chisels, pliers, nails, all kinds of tools, but nothing hurt more than getting cut with a wire saw. Never seen Audition, but that scene sounds completely horrific.

How the hell is Art The Clown's torture scene in the bedroom from Terrifier 2 not on here (that should easily be #1), or the scene where he sawed a girl in half down the middle from the first movie? Or how about the ritualistic punishment/killing for adultery in Cannibal Holocaust? Or the scene where a guy gets his head slowly cut off with a blowtorch in The Basement? Or the dental torture scene from The Dentist 2? Or the chest-bursting scene in Alien? Or the mutilation scene in Freakshow? Or the barbwire death scene in Silent Hill? Or the dismemberment scene or scene where a guy was eaten alive by cannibals in Green Inferno?

My vote would go to Justin Long having his legs removed, and being turned into a human/walrus hybrid in Tusk. Not only the physical aspect of being ripped apart and reassembled, but the psychological aspect of accepting that fate and living the remainder of life as an actual walrus?!?! That's so F'ed up!!

that bone tomahawk scene is traumatizing it's so gritty and feels so real and something that could actually happen in real life as it's not so much over the top that's what makes it such an awful scene to watch all the saw deaths to me don't do much for me as they are all so over the top and cartoonish in their presentation

First of all it is illegal to reshow parts of movies films or programs without the original creators permission secondly at the scene number 3 there was no torture involved so really it is not horror
