Dead parents isn't just a cliche in superhero comics. It's also in famous novels, movies and games(Disney films, Harry Potter, etc). Overall, it's the most used.

I so love the OG Spidey, Tobey embodied dorkiness and determination, thus making him my favorite.

Another cliché: a certain hero's superpower is too overpowered for most fights, so for example let's get rid of Nightcrawler in X-Men: Evolution all the time by knocking him unconscious, or have everybody and their grandma carry around several pounds of kryptonite, as soon as Superman is involved.

"4: A secret identity to protect" I would probably do the same if i got some kind of power, just think about it, if you announce who u are and what power u have, then firstly, "bad guys" will go after you, your friends / family, close ones and so on. But even if you exclude the bad guys, even the good ones will become a burden, 1-10 people with power among billions of people, their work will never end, they can never take a break since most people will think of that as betrayal and if you fail to save someone / do something, they will most likely complain and not be grateful that you tried.

#1 is loosing to the villain on the first fight. Heroes never win at first, how did you forget this one!? It goes with EVERY story for EVERY hero. Tell me a hero that beat the main villain the first time, you can't.

That's why I love the Punisher so much. He's the most non cliche superhero because he's an antihero.

#1. Super powers ALWAYS go to intelligent and smart people, or make them intelligent and smart. Why there never has been a case where some dumb idiot got super powers and STAYED dumb? Doesn't matter if they chose to go down the heroic path or villain, they are ALWAYS smart and intelligent.

I don't really call #4 a cliché since its the most common sense thing to do and there's a lot of superheros that don't hide their identity.

You forgot: friend finds out the heroes identity, just putting it out there.

If I ever make a movie about a superhero I am going to do the exact opposite of a cliche.

Frank Castle if anything was more selfless before he became the Punisher, he doesn't have dead parents that were killed when he was a kid (does have murdered family) his villains are sometimes close, he isn't rich, he doesn't have a sidekick, he isn't a super genius but pretty smart, he doesn't have powers or obtained his abilities via freak accident, he is resistant to cops (but c'mon that makes sense), he has come back but everyone has (ugh hate writers), he doesn't hide his identity and has no problem killing. Conclusion: He is better than most heroes.

while my super hero persona isn't smart, he is very creative, its how he comes up with gadgets like defibulators in the palms of his gloves, or a home made stink bomb formula, and he may not be rich but the city does donate him money for saving the day and he does use it to fund his crime fighting or for comfort
