Blaine is one of the greatest up close magicians ever and you pick this? He's had someone pick a card then throw the deck at a store window and the correct card was the only card INSIDE the store. Someone picks a card puts it back in the deck and it is immediately found in the back pocket of the person. Then there's the one he has altered each time making it more freaky. He asks for a dollar and has the person sign it. He then tears a piece off and puts the rest in an envelope and seals it. He then swallows the torn bit. As soon as he swallows he asked the person to check their shoe where the piece is found. He then takes the piece and the envelope. He blowa on the corner which disappears then opens the sealed envelope...nothing. Oh this was a woman because he asks her to check her purse. She finds the bill intact with her signature. I'll take those over catching a bullet anytime.

Deceaseful no he is not, he’s a showman. Let me explain something to you, on his first especial street magic I was excited to watch it. As I began to watch it ,I realized he was doing my repertoire, so did hundreds of magicians around the world. Our magic tricks,became David Blaine’s tricks overnight. He didn’t do any original magic at all, every magician on earth knew these tricks. The day after the show you could off gone to any magic shop and purchased this tricks or gaffs to perform this tricks. He is not that great, he was just an opportunist. Why create new magic when the old stuff would do.

My favorite trick on this list is also the one I'd be most able to replicate, and that's the tiny plunger. I love love LOVED seeing that act on Penn & Teller's show, but Penn (with Teller's help) basically tells the audience how it's done using card trick terminology. Still one of my favorite acts of all time.

David Copperfield should've dominated this whole list: vanishing the Statue of Liberty, walking through the Great Wall of China, surviving Niagara Falls, etc... He didn't win 21 out of 38 Emmy Awards for nothing.

+Sascha Z. Most television magic specials (which this entire list is based on) tend to do that, especially the street ones. IMO, it's only cheap if all the observers execute part of the method. Otherwise, they're just props. Copperfield at least includes lots of stage illusions: Death Saw, Flying, Snow, etc...
@jp3813
@jp3813 7 жыл бұрын
+1wibble2 Good thing he never just relies on such an approach as the illusion included on this list proves. That's the equivalent of calling Jackie Chan a fraud for using stunt doubles every now and then.
@jp3813
@jp3813 7 жыл бұрын
+Ewenya p It's also a matter of imagination and execution. Most magicians can do variations of each other's methods, that's always been the case. The key is how they're presented. Copperfield didn't start out rich, he earned it through talent by being a prodigy. He has remained active & creative to this very day, transcending the changing tides of the art. Sorry to say, but the standards of magic has fallen ever since Blaine became famous.
@ewenyap3018
@ewenyap3018 7 жыл бұрын
we can just agree to disagree.. i think magic has hightened the standard by quite alot the last 20 years. that being said i think copperfield was really good, definatly the best of his time. but i think many have surpassed him by now. blaines iceblock might be cheesy once you know how its done, but its super impressive to the layaudience, just like the statue of liberty disaperance that copperfield did. but the statue of liberty can be done by anyone today, if they have the money, there is still alot that couldnt do the iceblock.. the advancevemnts of techniques and skill have far surpassed what copperfield where able to produce.. but again that does not mean that he wasent great, it just means he has been surpassed, as it usualy happens to anyone being on the top of a craft, the next generation will allways be breathing down your neck.
@jp3813
@jp3813 7 жыл бұрын
+Ewenya p Except magic isn't at all judged by how hard the illusion is. It's all about making the impossible seem possible. That's why the Statue of Liberty illusion is so iconic while Blaine's tricks have become the subject of ridicule by many. Chris Rock: "I'm in a box, and I ain't gonna eat. That ain't no trick, that's called livin' in the projects!" What you have to remember is that when talking about today's so-called advancement of techniques, Copperfield is one of the people who continues to develop them. He's still currently the most successful magician in the world, and it's not even close. As I've said before, magicians have always done variations of each other's methods. What Blaine knows, Copperfield knows. But the key is how they're presented, and that's where the latter shines. I suggest you look up his illusion called "Snow", b/c that's a perfect example of him taking a very simple trick and turning it into a finale worthy of a standing ovation. Also, you might be surprised to find out that most people are still more amazed by the special effects of Jurassic Park over any of its sequels despite the advancement of technology. That's the power of imagination and execution.

#3 is obviously a really short guy, wearing some kind of suit that can make him seem 1 foot taller if not more. Criss Angel worked with great technicians and other people great at creating things. Obviously has some kind of fake layer of skin and the penny moves with a click of a button or something and of course fake blood under skin. Blaine... a lot of his stuff the people around him are in on it. Yo guys... let's make a scene where I spit 3 frogs from my mouth... It's all edited, hence why it works on tv but not in real life. Copperfield is all green screen crap on tv. Bullet catch... simple, he never caught a bullet, he already had one. ps... you can't catch a bullet with your teeth, it's just not possible, you die...
@dakid40777
@dakid40777 7 жыл бұрын
oasisbeyond i sat here and debunked half that stuff like you im like catching that bullet is impossible it was already stored in the mouth probably and the head drop clearly its a suit by the way its shaped
@allen604
@allen604 7 жыл бұрын
oasisbeyond, true #3 is a special suit. but he's normal height. he just bends down sticking his ass out while the suit is designed to stay upright. camera angles are very important in some tricks.
@ammo76534
@ammo76534 7 жыл бұрын
HAHAHHAHAAHAHA....nope #3 is a suit that you can make yourself David Blaine just drinks a shit ton of water and then swallows the frog in one piece, one by one. Later on when he performs he regurgitates the frogs. He has even shown this on a documentary, performing with goldfish Copperfield is once again a special suit, with the pants helped to be held up and David just leaning to the side. The bullet catching trick is simple. The bullets are signed. They secretly do a switch, pop the caps and place them in their mouths. Then they load blanks in the gun and fire. You were right about Angel though. Fake layer of skin, probably from Vaseline. Nice try, idiot. There's a reason why this is an art form. It takes years of practice and skill. NOTHING is edited. Stop trying to bullshit your way through. I bet you're fun at parties

The Blaine one is actually not an illusion. He literally keep the frogs somewhere in his throat and then makes the scene. Some magicians have trained their throat to be able to swallow solids or even liquids without it reaching the stomach. The reason it doesnt work on real life is because he has to prepare the trick before hand. He has to swallow the shit first. How? Maybe they were born with that ability or they trained it.

bullet trick is easy to figure out. the round that is signed by a random audience member comes apart. when the magician loads the pistol, he removes the bullet from the casing and palms it, loads the casing (which has a real powder charge) into the pistol. At this point, the bullet is placed in the mouth. The pistol is fired. Nothing leaves the barrel. The bullet is presented in the magician's mouth. notice that there are no rifling marks on the bullet - that's because it was never fired from the pistol.

The best trick I ever saw way in Soviet Circus - a couple waltz in the arena (360 degree view opening to the audience) and completely changed clothes numerous times - without stopping, without being covered by cloth, with just confetti falling from the ceiling.

David Blaine uses regurgitation method with the frogs, not completely swallowing but storing in the throat, very hard to do and takes a lot of patience because you want to swallow the whole time whatever you have in your throat is there. And he actually had to put live frogs in his mouth

So for penn and teller, the shell that had the lighting bolt on it was of a .22 caliber but the bullet that penn spit out was a 9mm. Any alarms raised?

The 'Tiny Plunger' trick is a great trick, but I've seen people stipulate that it was actually relatively simple, all cards had a tiny hole in them off-centre and all the magician had to do was ensure the selected card was rotated the opposite way when back in the deck, creating a tiny vacuum when all of the tiny holes don't line up.

When I was in Las Vegas at a David copper field show David noticed me and my dad sitting in the front row of the show and says to my dad in front of the whole audience I can see you are one handsome man and I was just in utter shock and says your son's not half bad and I swear I almost died.

There is exactly zero danger in Penn and Teller's bullet catch. It's done completely differently from any other bullet catch and is considered the best magic trick ever because basically no one knows how it's done.

I have a vague memory of a commercial for a magic show where the guy was dancing with his assistant and when she spins into his arms she disappears and there's only the dress left. I saw that commercial like 16 years ago and still have no idea how he did it, who was the guy and how to find a video clip of the trick. Literally haunted by this
