I TOTALLY TOTALLY agree with RPM being SUPER DARK. Hands down, RPM was one of my favorite seasons with its dark tones and superb character backstories.

Seeing JDF say "They could've been gods" sends chills down my spine. Who knew he could play the villain role as good as the hero role.

How David Yost was treated is definitely the darkest Power Rangers moment.

#1 "RPM as a Whole" Totally agree. Seriously, there was so many dark moments on RPM that they could create their own list: destruction of world, heroes lost, team's mentor created the big bad, it's not the end, backstory of almost every main character (Teneya, Scott, Doctor K, Dillon...).

You can tell that JDF always has fun playing a ranger by how many times he comes back. That or it’s because he knows Tommy is a very iconic Ranger.

If we're talking about "dark" for the Master Org choice I would of just went with his backstory of killing Cole's parents over his destruction of the Wild Zords. Yes, it wasn't as grand in scope as destroying the Wild Zords and using fictional plant vines from his hands was a silly way to depict the act of killing Cole's parents, but his motivation shown on screen for wanting to kill them and following through with the act of those deaths: the personal nature with the jealousy, contempt and vitriol with the revenge depicted in that episode was so... palpable. That wasn't fictional/fantasy world "I'm a super-villain taking over the world" dark. That was real world "I'm a sociopath who should be on death row because I'm a murderer" dark.

The destruction of the command center not even a honorable mention? WHAT?!?!

Tommy's Green Candle end, flatly losing to Rita and being depowered, was a huge one for me. Also, Skye's memory of his Dad in SPD. This tragic backstory, putting him through so much, and then when it reduces him to tears, his tears allow the mirror monster to escape prison as well, for a villain win on top of an already brutal moment.

The thing that makes Kendrix's death even worse is the reason for it - her actress had to leave to undergo cancer treatment.

Not bad choices overall. Some other moments worth considering: The End of Time: The finale of Power Rangers Time Force is pretty dark. Fraxx has his humanity purged and is killed, Wes fights desperate and hopeless battle out-maned and according to Alex perishes saving the future, Ransik casually walks through the Time Force Rangers, Eric is shot and nearly killed. Rangers Defeated: Say what you will about Turbo as a whole, the finale for Turbo was incredibly dark as the Rangers actually lose. Divatox's forces destroy the Power Chamber and the Rangers are de-powered. As much as I was disappointed as a kid by Turbo, the finale was excellent as you never believed that a series would end with the Rangers defeated. Mike's Death: Yes, he comes back but still when you saw Mike fall into the chasm near the beginning of Lost Galaxy you were definitely in shock. Heck the entire intro for Lost Galaxy was pretty dark what with all the people getting turned to stone. A certain moment in Power Rangers Hyperforce: This was a RPG experience supported by Saban and featured on HyperRPG that is a canon continuation of the story of Power Rangers Time Force. Something happens to a certain main character and it is incredibly shocking. I do not want to spoil it for those who may not be familiar with this slightly more obscure chapter in Power Rangers history. The tragedy of Zenaku: The story behind how Merrik became Zenaku in Wild Force is pretty tragic. He used the powers of Zenaku to help defeat Master Org but became possessed by the power and he was forced to be sealed away to prevent himself for destroying those he loved.

What about the ending of Power Rangers Turbo? I mean, that was the bleakest finale in PR history. The Rangers lost all their zords, their leader was forced to leave them, Divatox launched an all attack on their Power Chamber, resulting in the destruction of said chamber and the Rangers losing their powers, and the UAOE was preparing their assault on the universe. How something like that doesn't even get an honorable mention is beyond me.

What about Doggie Cruger’s backstory?! HIS WHOLE TEAM DIED, HE LOST HIS ENTIRE RACE AND HIS WIFE WAS STOLEN AWAY FROM HIM!!!

The Destruction of the Wild Zords should've been a lot higher. The zords weren't just weapons or robots, they were living creatures.

In all my years as a Power Rangers fan, those were definitely the darkest moments were it seems and felt like that all seems lost. But no matter how hard they've been pushed, the Power Rangers always push back. Because they possess a power that no villain can destroy no matter how powerful they are. That power is HOPE!

Zordon's sacrifice is truly a dark moment in the series as he was a wise and just sage who not only helped the rangers from time to time but the entire series as a whole believe or not. Thanks to the popularity of In Space the series ended up continuing so Zordon saved both the universe and the franchise from cancellation.

Yeah RPM has been split by fans forever but it had a lot of good and dark moments. Doc K being one of the saddest. She was taken at a young age from her family forced to do government work and lead the world to the end. Only to spend her time trying to fix her mistake that lead to the almost exticton of the humans including her only 2 friends as she thought

It’s clear to say in honor of their 25th Anniversary, we’re bound to see more Power Ranger videos based on storylines, characters, moments and members of each team not to mention a lot of us are still waiting for Top 10 videos on the rangers in Green, Yellow, Black, Silver and White.

In Time Force, Wes and Eric were outnumbered severely and were fighting alone to save the planet. They literally died but the future Rangers returned to the past to save them. That should be on here

I definitely agree with the In Space, Lost Galaxy and Time Force choices (as they were my favorite seasons of the First Saban Era) BUT RPM as a whole? I 100% agree as it is more darker than In Space, Lost Galaxy and Time Force and it’s felt more like Terminator than Power Rangers

RPM was so dark because it was meant to be the final season but yeah shit got real. Lord Drakkon is just dark to be dark and it’s dope af.

This isn't even mentioning the fact that the current comics, most notably the Shattered Grid arc, is entirely based on Lord Drakkon murdering Tommy, the entire Time Force team, and various other rangers across history in order to become a Ranger God.

I do like the drama in the scene with Captain Mitchell being forced to deal with Diabolico because he’s hanging off a cliff holding his daughter while his son hangs from his legs, but the dialogue of the scene has always just been kind of hilarious to me. Captain: “HELP! SOMEONE HELP US!” Diaboloco appears: “I can help you.” Captain: “GO AWAY!”

Again fan-favorite Sentai adaptions like Lost Galaxy, Time Force, and RPM prove you can dark topics as the main themes of episodes or in RPM's case an entire adaption and still be good. And the next Sentai season to get an adaption Ryusoulger actually touches on the topic of legally good vs. morally good due to the early rivalry between Red Ranger Koh, and Black Ranger Tama due to Tama's willingness to murder humans possessed by Minosaurs along with the fact he'd actually did kill humans possessed by Minosaurs during the period of time before him and the Green Ranger met up with Koh and the other rangers. So why does most PR fans say it's impossible for Lupinranger vs. Pataranger which is to an extent a dark season and has as pretty much the as the main theme of the season the topic of morally right vs. legally right to get adapted.

RPM was PEAK Power Rangers. Great writing, great acting, great character for every ranger (especially Ziggy, Dillon and even Dr K), great humour, highest stakes, and a menacing villain that actually brought humanity to the brink of extinction before the first episode. It was so dark, mature, and intense for Power Rangers and I loved it
