Camila and Eddie having a relationship honestly feels like the biggest thing… makes Camila seem like less of a victim and adds depth to Eddie’s rift with Billy. LOVED this choice

I appreciate that they didn't copy the book word for word, or plot by plot. My favourite change would be giving Camila and Simone more agency of their own, and not simply as extensions of Billy and Daisy respectively.

A big change was not including Billy and Camilla’s twin girls in the show. It was an important aspect in the book because it was Billy’s second chance of being there for his wife during labor and being able to hold them as newborns since he didn’t get to do that with Julia.

I loved both the book and the tv series. But I wish that the series would have shown how much Daisy hated herself for having feelings for Billy because he was with Camilla. I don't think she was envious of Camilla in that sense, it was more of a connection that she couldn't stop from growing. In the series, she looks like she's not sorry for trying to take Billy from Camilla at times.

My mom personally lost all sympathy for Daisy during the photoshoot scene in which Daisy goes (paraphrasing) "Did you seriously bring your fucking wife??". In the book it's made apparent that Daisy's crush on Billy is a source of deep self-hatred but in the series she looks almost proud of herself at times

The only change that bothered me was the change to daisy’s story and journey to stardom. I wish they would have given that the attention it was due. In the book she’d already released an album and begun making a name for herself by the time she’s brought in to sing on Honeycomb.

Agree. Plus, the night that she and The Six play together, it was a very climatic moment in the book because it was being built carefully, but it happened a bit too fast in the show. Nevertheless, the show is still amazing

i LOVED this show, but i really wish they didn't change the ending. Billy's almost-relapse was such a compelling part to read, and it feels like they changed it just to make daisy and billy make out. They also changed the life-changing conversation that daisy & camila had in the hallway, with julia there (& her character reveal). They changed it to just be Camila yelling at Daisy for cheating with Billy when they hadn't done anything besides kiss once.

Also, Eddie literally HATED Billy in the books. In the show it just seems like they occasionally don't see eye to eye, but there is definitely not the same kind of loathing like in the books. Besides that, Billy was much more self-centered in the book. He didn't care about anything but his own opinion and definitely was not in the "we are family" vibe

While I appreciate giving her a job and more screen time, there is an element of Camila's changes that I think actually diminishes her character, that I'm not satisfied with. In the book, she always seemed bigger than the band, like she had a whole life beyond it and didn't concern herself too much with it, being absolutely sure of her place and her intentions. In the show, she's a lot more dependent on the band and their drama and understandably starts to feel more insecure when things start to get rocky. It's still an interesting way to portray her character, but I think they're losing some of the nuance

I liked show Camilla, I liked seeing more of her. But what you say is soooo true! I loved Camilla in the books because she was dead ass shure that Daisy wasn't a threat. She was a force to be reacon with. I think book Camilla shows thru in the show in moments like when she punchs Billy and say to him he should get his act together when the baby comes, and doesn't left room to argue.

this put into words how i felt about her show portrayal. i don't hate it, there's definitely some things that they added that made sense. i loved how angry she got at billy when she caught him cheating during the first tour, and just in general how forthright she was. but some of the changes cheapened her character a bit. in the book she isn't constantly worried that billy is going to leave her for daisy, because she genuinely believes he will choose her in the end. and there's nothing wrong with her being portrayed as more insecure in the show, because that's valid and doesn't make her any less stronger. but it just seemed like that was all there was to her character...

They didn't mention my favorite change from the book. I usually am very hard on changes from the source material but Daisy's changes I actually enjoyed better than the book. I can't believe Daisy's overdose scene wasn't on this list. Having Billy find her and Nicky running away instead was fantastic. In the book Nicky finds her but changing it to Billy was much more meaningful. The scene the next day too where Daisy pieces together something is wrong and remembers it was Billy there for her and not Nicky was also quite powerful.

I felt like in the book, you could definitely see more of Eddie’s hate towards Billy lol. even though pete was barely there in the interviews, his character was integral. his one and only interview was so important, especially to the book readers. it's a realistic depiction of artists who don't want to be back in the limelight, which made his interview so surprising and all the more important.

That's really all I have to contribute. I'm nearing seventy but I'm still looking forward, okay? I'm not looking back. You're welcome to put this in your book but that's going to have to be it for me." some things to take note: 1. this is a huge deal because you would assume pete didn't want to talk about what went on in the band cause something happened between him and someone/s from the band. 2. this happened towards the end so this was a shocker. it's unexpected because you would assume again that pete wouldn't give out an interview. but, of course, the plot twists don't end ;))) 3. pete ended up with jenny!! pete and jenny's relationship wasn't really documented much in the book but it was still talked about and it was cute to see it bloom, even for a bit. pete was also the first one to express that he wanted to leave the band because he wanted to marry jenny and live a normal life with her. 4. this interview makes it all the more heartfelt because pete is a private person yet he allowed julia to squeeze in an interview of him for her book.

A lot of the changes they made were very Fleetwood Mac-esque inspired. Billy meeting Teddy at the convenience store, that’s how I believe Buckingham got his shot. People up and leaving the band is something that happened to all bands, but since the inspo was fm, that’s the reason I think they wanted the band to experience loss earlier in their story, the time jump could’ve been shortened since all the actors are so young, but it works because of how Fleetwood Mac reunited 20 years after their rumors album to perform as a complete unit in the 90’s. All in all, this adaptation works really well, and I can see the inspiration behind the series which makes me love it more.

The official story is that Mick Fleetwood was shopping for a recording facility & producer. He was given a tape of the one & only Buckingham Nicks album as a sample of Keith Olsen's studio & production work. Instead, Fleetwood got in touch with Buckingham about joining the band.

I feel like the biggest change was to Daisy - in the book she was literally forced into being a singer, she only wanted to write songs and the career fell into her lap. I’m the show, Daisy works hard at obtaining a music career, both in singing open mics and having a job as a waitress. Also, her first album was already finished and she opened for The Six in another tour before she joins the band. It was during that tour that the Rolling Stone article is written which basically forces the Six to ask her to join the band.

My favorite change was that they gave Simone a storyline in the show because, in the book, she was essentially the black best friend, and not much else other than she became a disco singer, got married and divorced, and had a child. My least favorite change was Karen’s personality because, in the book, she made it known that she wants to be known for her art and didn't want to be a wife or mother though she does get pregnant and gets an abortion. In the show, she's just there other than being with Graham.

Disagree completely. You could essentially cut out Simone's entire story and it would have made basically no difference and not changed the story at all. Add to that her story came at the expense of the moment of the storytelling and the opportunity to flesh out more of the Six was missed as well.

I guess the most significant changes were: 1. Positives and negatives - Camila's story; I like her development as more than a shadow of Billy, but I always consider her a powerhouse even in the book. 2. Negative - Karen's personality: I don't mind the accent, but she's excellent in the book and almost forgotten in the series. 3. Positive - I loved to see a storyline for Simone, - negative: but why only her? (again, more space for Karen). 4. Negative - The twins! Why???? That was so argghh... 5. Negative - Daisy's beginner's career is way better in the book. 6. Negative - Daisy and Billy's kisses (arfff - Hollywood!). Personally, I enjoyed the show, it made me appreciate the book even more, and I love the music (huge accomplishment!) #imo. The image impact of the concerts is amazing. You see the band TJR created becoming a legend; it's like they truly existed.

One big change I hated was changing the final concert from "the day that disco died" to the 4th of October 1977. Because the Aurora album came out in 1978, the year after the album it was clearly based on, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. Also, I expected Karen to have an American accent due to The Six being an American band, but since Suki Waterhouse spoke in her native English tongue, and that this is loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, an Anglo-American band, I found that to be acceptable.

I think while the actress that plays Daisy does a grate show, doesn't capture the magnetism that she has in the book. In the bolk she is misterious and vibrant and you can't keep your eyes out of her. I think the vibe Daisy has in the book is similar to that one scene when Camilla has the all white outfit with the sun glasses and is pure glamour. Simone's story line felt like a totally different show. The fact that you could edit out her entire story arc from the show and it wouldn't have affected the Band or the ending at all really speaks to how shoehorned in and forced that character was. It killed the momentum of the story so many times and came at the expense of spending more time with other members of The Six. As someone who hasn't read the book and has played in several bands my entire life that seems like a net loss.

after reading the book twice before the series, in my view, the biggest omission here is that in the film adap, teddy survives his heart attack. in the book, teddy dies, and along with that, most of billy's drive, ambition, and stability from his 'father figure'. it paved the way and gave huge motivation for billy's decision to leave the band. I saw absolutely nothing gained by keeping teddy alive, becoming a somewhat sad and lonely figure, just staring out the windows of his hollywood hills estate. also, the scene where the 'big reveal' (the interviewer is julia, billy & camilla's daughter) is altered so that billy now becomes the focus. it works much better as dad & daughter, with more emotional impact. but it also robs us of one the great lines in the book, where we learn while in an interview with daisy, she tells julia that camilla's last words to her were, "don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I never see you again." and kudos for the casting, 'julia' (seychelle gabriel) in the film looked so much like the daughter camilla morrone and sam clafin might have had. thanks, ms. mojo. I'll be binge-watching this whole series in the new year.

@@lynnlee2282 I saw someone comment about what daisy did to them etc. having no idea what they meant. I never read the book. Just finished the entire show. So I see now lol. Ty. To be honest. I think it would be a lot more dramatic if it ended like the book. with a showdown lol of the two women finally being truly honest. With one asking the other to sacrifice her DREAMS she’s had her whole life not to mention her close relationships her family really, not to mention a huge income, all To help save the marriage of the man she truly believes is HER soulmate. Throughput the whole series it gave me the idea because of the things they were saying in interviews later on that there was someone most likely Daisy was going to do something huge and Sudden that will end everything ONE big dramatic ending. So when she left for rehab and the rest bickering I was a big confused.

I agree on Simone, but it’s implied Camila cheats in the book- just hate it’s with Eddie. Pete was kind of boring and didn’t really add anything to the storyline. I didn’t understand the kiss either, but someone commented to me that it’d be so unlikely they didn’t kiss in the book either especially since we find out who the “author” is.

I love when they made Camila AND Billy cheat as if that would justify that change, the fact that Billy’s working so hard to change and not fall into temptation was erased in an instant and Camila’s dedication to her family no matter who stands in the way, no matter if it’s faith or destiny itself, gone in a poof. They’re just a joke now just like the songs. Karen was also not that passionate about music because she didn’t get pregnant and got an abortion to show how much she’s not the family type and would rather do music forever if she can.

Lol I thought the same. And it's not to be shallow, it's for the medium. When you don't know thes people personally (you can only identify so much with the limited screen time), you need to simulate the feelings Billy has through appearance and on screen charisma, the way Billy would see things. Regardless of physical looks (IRL), when you are connecting to someone and loosing connection with another, that feeling of attraction change manifests itself in a way that only others watching could relate through metaphor. In this case, making one character clearly physically more attractive and charismatic than the other, as Billy's eyes would see it.

It’s interesting that you think a women’s looks, who is “ hotter” Is the deciding factor whether men will cheat or leave a parter for another. Especially in this case where they are both beautiful people. It’s also funny the that you missed the main reason they feel such a deep love between them it’s 100% who they are on the INSIDE. their common goals, likes, fears, dreams, talent, struggle with addiction etc I mean all that time together with strong feelings for each other yet they never made it physical. Just like in real life. Only a small portion of men get their value/worth from an attractive women on their arm, a very insecure man at that.

@@dragons_red I strongly disagree with you 😏on their looks and I can imagine I’m not alone here. Lol. They are both attractive women just in different ways, with daisy being more naturally beautiful with the wavy long long hair attractive features both have great body’s and the wife being idk how to describe her other than dark-haired beauty. Im guessing you are both under 40. I could be wrong.🤷🏼‍♀️ The wife’s looks may be a bit more trendy at the moment. But I bet if you took a poll it would be quite close. Again beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all 😏🤭

So ridiculous to make Karen British and to have only five members when the group was The Six. So stupid. Can't believe Taylor went along with it. It's like the movie version of The Girl on the Train changing the canned gin and tonic into vodka in an empty water bottle. Readers know what I'm talking about. That little fact (canned gin & tonic) was one of the most critical parts of that novel and Hollywood just pissed it away. Exactly like the band having SIX members. Typical dumb Hollywood "writers" take a brilliant piece of literature like "Daisy Jones" and ruining it. Taylor or her agent should have fought harder to keep SIX members.

They had to make screen time for the black/gay stuff thay wasn't in the book. It's a requirement for Hollywood these days. I have nothing against stories/movies/shows for or about people of color or gay/lesbian, what annoys me is that it has to be shoe horned into everything that didn't originally have it for more virtue signaling instead of just putting it in new material naturally and let it be it's own wonderful thing.

I understand Pete had a small part in the book and that’s why they left his character out but I still think they could have made it work. I would have rather seen a deeper side story on one of the band members than Simone. Daisy was a hippie & would not have chosen a pop singer to admire. I thought that was a big flaw by the writers. I disliked Simone's character so much I would always fast forward through her scenes & the ever exhausting gay scene which is mandatory in every thing.
