Unloading my tractor from the trailer on a hill was one of the most uneasy feelings I've had on my machine, when you get to the point your truck lift's off the ground and rolling backwards , it's a bad feeling. Thanks for bringing that one up. Really enjoy the videos.👍

Mistakes make us smarter.....ROPS were left up one time when I was mowing my son's lawn. The ROPS cut a low hanging branch and lifted the front wheels right off the groun (with bucket attached)....jerked me good and I learned. Thanks for mentioning the little hits on the garage. Now she can see it is not just me. Stay safe.

One of the best suggestions a John Deere dealer told me was buy an air compressor and blow off my mower ever Time I put it away. My zero turn has lasted 20 years. Don’t wash blow it off. Now I use that process on my tractor. I blow off everything including the grill. Great suggestion.

Good Stuff Courtney - Talk about dumb - I tried to move my 1025r forgetting that the right backhoe stabilizer was still down. I had jumped off the backhoe, lifted the left stabilizer, moved some tools out of the way where I was headed - Then jumped back on the tractor from the left side as I always do, while forgetting that the right stabilizer was still down. For a quick moment I wondered why the tractor wouldn't move and was making some serious grunting noises - DUH... You make a great point about buying the right size tractor the first time - I love my 1025r with the 260b backhoe. It has truly been a "Back Saver" as you can see in my KZfaq videos. But I really wish I had gotten the 2032r with the backhoe and spent the few extra dollars. But the "Good News for Good Works Tractor" is that you and I will be negotiating that trade someday when I come up with some extra "Dinero" - This was a fun video, Buddy - Thanks for sharing your funny stories...

Discovered yesterday where it may be okay to park your tractor without setting the brakes, but only lowering your box blade in one certain spot, doesn't work in that same spot with a tiller. Those tines roll! 😥. Great video...👌

Yes. I've done 1. 2-twice. 3 multiple times, never tipped though. 4 I live in the North so we have treated diesel, so I've never had a problem with gelling. 5, I've loaded onto a trailer hitched onto a Chevy Cruze, pick the entire rear wheels off the ground. LOL, but hey the sedan it pulled it once I got it balanced on the trailer. 6 -Never ripped a tire off.... Yet. 7 and 8 Haven't gotten stuck or had an issue getting around in the snow... Yet. 9, I have a 1025R great machine, but I wish I would have gotten larger, but I can't say not having larger has really costed me money. 10, I've only ever run out of fuel once, I try not to run out of fuel in anything tractors, or vehicles. Running out of fuel consistently make a fuel pump go bad quicker.

So many great tips here Courtney. I can relate to the first one while using the RC 2060 Rotary Cutter. Front grill was filled with weed seeds and luckily I noticed before the coolant temperature got up to 3/4 of the way to the Red Zone. I check it now several times while using the Rotary Cutter and even more when it’s a warm day.

I have a 2018 JD 3025E. It has the fuel tank behind the driver seat. I was filling it with diesel when I got a call from my wife. I answered on my Bluetooth headset and talked for a while. Totally distracted. I forgot about putting the cap on the fuel tank. I already had the tractor strapped down in the trailer because I would be going 14 miles away in the morning to do some work. A thunderstorm came through over night. I noticed the cap was off when I got to where I was going. I had to go to a parts place to get some water remover, drain the tank totally, put in the water remover then refill with good diesel. No, I did not try to start it with the water in the tank.

Another good video, Courtney! Thanks! I’ve made some of yours and done the “property damage” more than once! I think my biggest mistake was not anticipating the need for 3-point quick hitch and rear attachments. Got the ballast box when I bought the tractor. Later found out it was not quick hitch compatible. Didn’t anticipate the need for a box blade. Picked up one very reasonably priced. Oops! Not compatible. Now I have a chipper as well. It’s quick hitch compatible but I’m stuck with the other items. Live and learn.

i've done some wild stuff for fuel gel and transport in extreme cold temps. about 32*F start tractor about 1x/month and let run for about 15 minutes or so. colder the temps the more frequent to start and run tractor. keeps fuel from turning into gel and easier to start come spring time. i've moved tractors from point to point while they were idling/running. if turned off the tractor could freeze or gel. good thing you back off the trailer if you drove on the trailer you could jack the truck/trailer causing damage. done a lot of that in the army. awesome video. sound seems better than most other times. :)

I’m always watching the loader bucket, and its wide swing around corners, but I sometimes forget about the backhoe as I drive around corners. I’ve caught fenceposts and trees that way. Usually nothing more than scraped paint. I’m now more aware, but if I don’t watch it, someday I’m going to catch the corner of my garage.

Have a 3 point quick attach on the back of my Kubota B2301. Watched this video so was VERY DILIGENT about putting my ROPS down before backing into the garage. Parked it, dropped the box blade to the ground. Next day, lifted the box blade ALL THE WAY up to drive it out...bent the top link of the 3 point hitch when it crashed into the ROPS. OOPS!!! I now pin the ROPS to the horizontal position when lowering for garage parking.

I overfilled my coolant, let the grill screen get clogged and overheated the tractor a bit. The machine didn’t shutdown, but the coolant did boil over and started leaking. A couple days later I had a small puddle under the tractor. I did this a couple times, before I finally figured out what was causing the leak. Until then I sincerely thought I had a hydraulics leak. Drove me crazy looking for the leak...

I have been fortunate not to do any damage to equipment when working around home or years ago when operating a Massey Ferguson tractor for cleaning a field of trees and other debris. I currently have two John Deere tractors and have used them according to the manufacturers recommendation and they are still in great shape. The only damage I did was to a trailer I had connected to one tractor and was moving the trailer and after hooking it up to the tractor forgot to raise the handle for the trailer before moving it and damaged my trailer.

The 1025R caution and brake lights stick out past the tractor and I busted a light on a tree branch the first time I mowed. I know a lot of 1025 owners rewire the lights so they go on the inside of the ROPs bar if you don't run a backhoe.

Got the ROPS strike on the workshop garage door out of the way in week one ! After getting away with pulling in with the ROPS up twice before the strike, I was lulled into being careless. The door opening is tall enough when one puts the door all the way up but on strike day, I failed to notice I had not put it all the way up until the machine screws from the lower door panel hinges started bouncing off the back of my head and hood. Lesson learned early! Fortunately I was able to move and reattached the hinges and beat the lower panel straight enough to reuse. Sure gets your attention though :-) Now I have a folding sawhorse with big letters saying "Lower The ROPS" that I put in front of the door when I pull the tractor out.... Thanks for pointing out other scenarios to avoid.

Oh yes, the barn door & it's trim, ours looks like a war was fought there. R4 tires? Ha. A decent compromise tire, easy on turf, but they will get you stuck in 2 heartbeats, especially if you're used to AG bar tires. Loading on a slope? That will get your attention real quick..... I was told at my old job to fill the machine up with diesel when it hit 1/4 tank. They didn't care what I was doing, where I was at or what time it was fill it up. The other day I helped one of our sons move a shed. The bucket would not lift it so finally use the 3 point hitch arms and move it. Lesson is should have at least a tool bar for the back end. Just one more thing is to never ever never use bio-diesel in a sub compact tractor and like you said use anti gel in the winter. I asked many gas stations if they have bio diesel or plain diesel and if they say bio I move on. I will do everything I can at most any cost not to use bio. I have nothing against the people that make it and I use it in the car every time I fill the car just not in my BX. Thanks and tractor on

i am always renting a mini ex or skid steer for my small farm, this summer i rented a larger mini ex and normaly i pick it up my self, but this one was to heavy for any of my trailers, so i had the guy bring it and pick it up 7 days later, well the drop off went well, but the pick up was funny as hell, my drive way is in a big loop, one side it a steep down hill or up depending witchway you come, well he came in around the loop and could have stopped any were on the loop on the flat, but no he stps his truck and 5th wheel trailer on the start of the steep down hill. the truck was on the hill. as he drove up the ramps, i knew what was going to happen, and i told him so before he even started to load, but no it was good, well as the machine started to tip over the edge of the trailer from the ramps to the deck, the back wheels of the 1 ton truck came off the ground, and every thing took off down hill, he swung the cab around and dug the bucket into my drive way trying to stop the truck, but all that did was plow a 24 inch wide 10 to 12 inch trench into my driveway ay high speed. as the truck went down, the truck started turning left and the trailer pushing it side ways, by now i could see the cab of the truck ready to be smashed. but some how the truck back wheel grabed skidding the truck to a stop and the backhoe dug into my drive way, every thing cam to a stop as the drive way leveled out, and the trailer over the deck stopped 4 inchs from hitting the cab. but not before leaving this 53 foot long trench in my drive way. i am sure he had to change his pants when he go home, never the less he had to unload it and repair my drive way, then reload.. all i could say is, i told you so... wish i had my camera on me, it would have made a great up load to all my others, i have ripped the door off my truck topper with my fork lift. i snagged the corner as i was turner out

Tractor manufacturers likely have a specific height operator they must design for. The operator must be protected seated upright if the tractor rolls over. Some tractors the only solid thing on the front is the frame if no loader is attached. So the operator's head must be below a straight line between the solid location on the front and the ROPS.

Master C that front valve stem mistake was not your fault. I can't understand manufacturers sometimes where they have valve stem protectors on the rear tires but not the front! This silly decision is still happening today. Just make them all protected for crying out loud. I will pay the extra $100 for the metal and time to weld them, lol.. For me its accidentally leaving MFWD engaged on a white concrete driveway, doh! 😣

I have an old Yanmar with a super simple solution - the valve stems are on the inside of the wheel. Sure, there is still some chance of them getting damaged but I’d wager that the statistics are in favor of being pretty protected.

Starting my farming enterprise I bought a little ride on mower second hand. I destroyed it by giving it dirty fuel from an old Jerry can. So now I ensure fuel is clean from clean containers. Also I will not buy a petrol engined vehicle with a carburettor ever again.

How were you going to "farm" with a riding mower?
@kdegraa

The mower towed a small trailer we used to cart materials around. We are establishing an orchard so there is a lot of stuff that needs to be moved. The mower & trailer worked okay,. It could carry material to plant around 15 trees at a time and it’s only a short trip back to the shed. The land is a bit steep in parts and the mower did not have any roll over protection & was only 2wd so it’s probably for the best that this mower is gone. Right now we have two diesel machines, an Iseki mower and a Club Car Carryall. The Iseki is a great mower with a 1.8m deck out the front, 4wd and good power. We recently purchased the Clubcar and hope to use it to carry us and materials around. Then we will need a tractor. We still want to buy a tractor but won’t really need one for a few years. If we can get one before it will make our work a lot easier.

Getting a 10ft drill stuck in the mud using a super M,frequently because it had to be done,(said the ol' man). Well one time,(the LAST time) he came out with his brand new AC D17,hooked up to the front of the Super M,and promptly buried it up to the rear axle. That was back in the early 60's. Now I just have an acre and a half that I take care of with my 2019 1025R. I never had the r4's before, and now I know I will replace the damn things. I run a quick hitch on the rear, and when I need weight back there,I hook up my 51" all gear drive, reverse rotation tiller,( no I don't hook up the pto) seems to be enough. Yup,I lifted up the back of an equipment trailer decades ago,I was on a slight knoll. That was when I had my JD 770 with loader.Rear tires where loaded with calcium so she was heavy. Btw,that 770 was the best overall tractor I ever owned. In 4x4 in the winter with the turf tires was just put on the heaviest chains from my local JD dealership. They worked like a champ. I'm positive I made other mistakes with tractors that I've owned, just can't recall them all. I started driving tractors as soon as my feet could reach the pedals. I remember our Farmall A,and an Oliver 66.Btw,we had no tractors setup for row crop, just sayin'...

Many years ago we had a demonstration tractor with front end loader attached which was going to be used in a parks situation for the local council at the time my boss jumped on it and loaded the bucket up with wet soil and decided to dump it over the bank not having much experience with tractors newton's law of gravity suddenly appeared as this tractor did not have any weight to counter balance the bucket the rear wheels left the ground my bosses sphincter must have tightened he jumped off and the machine rolled into a gully the tractor salesman look was priceless my boss was white as a ghost surprise about 2 weeks later that tractor arrived in our depot the saying goes you break it concider its sold 🤣🤣🤣🤣
