Mr. Rogers was our father when our father was away working. Mr. Rogers was our grandfather when we needed advice from someone. But most importantly, Mr. Rogers was the friend we wished we had in real life. I loved watching him on tv.

Shame on you for not including Susan Lucci's 1999 Daytime Emmy win. It took her 19 nominations before she finally won, and when she did, she got a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes and her speech left the audience in tears. It's one of the greatest acceptance speeches of all time, at any awards ceremony.

Yes, Susan Lucci's win for best actress at the daytime Emmy was epic. That was back in 1999. Sudan had been nominated 19 times consecutively and always lost except for that year. Actor Shemar Moore made the event more exciting by presenting and yelling "the streak is over, Susan Lucci." Everybody got up and gave her a very long standing ovation. She rightfully delayed the commercial break to politely finish her speech. Yay Erica Kane. I will never forget that day.

Viola Davis on how to get away with murder was like watching Laurence Olivier do a school play. Her presence was massive. You understood why and how she is one of the greatest actors of this generation.

I never met Mr. Rogers in person, but seeing him nearly every day of my childhood, I feel like I've known him my entire life. He set an example for so many people, myself included. Every time I feel angry or sad, I always think about Mr. Rogers and what he would say. He was, and let's be honest, is, a truly beautiful human being. I can't even call him "Fred." He will always be Mr. Rogers to me.

I still can't watch Mr. Rogers speech without crying. The impact he had on my generation was immeasurable. Service, humility, and dedication, that was Mr. Rogers. I loved him like my own father, and still do. They're both Home now, and I still miss them both.

Fred Rogers was just everything good and right that a person could possibly be. Standing in a room full of, let's be honest, some of the most cynical people in the world, he asked them to be quiet and think about someone else. And they did. I don't think there's anyone on the planet who could have commanded or, frankly, deserved that level of respect. I miss him.

If I remember correctly this was when they had Jeff Erlanger present the award (which I think Fred had no idea) and Mr. Rogers jumped up on stage and it was like Jeff was the only person in that room Mr. Rogers was so happy to see him. Rest In peace to both of them

I watched him after my children had left home, just to hear him say, "I like you JUST the way you are." Bless you, Fred Rodgers, I always have and continue to want to be your neighbor.

Mr. Rogers definitely deserved the #1 spot! Fun fact, if you love the Zombie genre, then you can thank Mr. Rogers for playing a small part in helping to get it started. "Night Of The Living Dead" director George A. Romero worked on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood filming some short movies for the show. It was Romero's first paid gig out of college.

When I saw Fred Rodgers on the stage, I cried a lot of tears. He inspired my childhood to one of my favorite PBS Kids programs on tv back when I was 3 or 6 years old, his kids show, Mister Rodgers' Neighborhood. I liked the way Mister Rodger helps kids and adults care about each other. I am sad to see him retire from his job. Sabrina Griffin. :(

I was teary by the time we got to Robin Willams. I was out right sobbing when Fred Rogers started talking. When I was watching him as a young girl, not so great things were going on, but being able to imagine myself somewhere else helped. Thank you, Fred Rogers. I will always be your neighbor.

My son is three years old and we still watch Mr. Rodgers neighborhood even though he isn’t here his teachings are and what he says is still valid to this day. As for the list he is the only one that can stand there forever and not only keep the room quiet for him to speak but the music won’t even start till he starts walking off stage.

You had to have Mr. Rogers as #1, didn't you? I grew up watching that and Sesame Street. I was just watching and enjoying the video until that one. You made me CRY, MsMojo. Mr. Roger certainly inspired many many people in his lifetime. He spoke to children as people in a way they could understand. He helped us learn in ways that school just couldn't do. He helped us all learn about ourselves, our feelings and most importantly about what humanity really is. Thank you for being our neighbor, Mr. Roger. Edit if you haven't seen it, watch his reunion with Jeff Erlanger whom appeared on his show as a child and wasn't expected to make it into adulthood. Mr. Roger's immediate reaction when seeing Jeff on stage was so awe-inspiring. He really loved all the children.

Growing up I wasn't a Mister Rogers kid. I watched only occasionally. As an adult coming back to real life after a lonely mental breakdown I would just soak in his kindness and listen intently as he told me it was ok to be myself. Mister Rogers helped to heal my low self esteem and taught me how to love myself and others once again. Mister Roger's Neighborhood was my church. Thank you Sir from the bottom of my heart.

Mr. Fred Rogers was the epitome of excellence in speeches. Look at the video of him addressing Senator Pastore! Pastore is initially snarky to Mr. Rogers, when he basically ignores the remark and continues on his campaign for children television funding in a regal manner, Pastore listens and grants him what he wants! We are all grateful for that!

Okay this is scandalous. The topic is Emmy moments, daytime or prime time that made us cry. How in the heck did Susan Lucci's 1999 win not make the cut. One would think it would be no. 1 if not at least in the top 3. Her win was a tear jerker (and that seems to be a major part of the criteria with the noted title of this post) to the point it was announced not only on the news but at sports and entertainment events that evening in 1999. The fact she won for daytime "only" transcended all of the world. Even Academy Award winners had noted her losing streak and one even sent her an Oscar to keep until she won an Emmy. She had a two minute standing ovation and people were crying all over the world - like her or not, like her acting or not there was such emotion as she had lost year after year of nominations, countless jokes and parodies she had Oprah and Rosie in tears. The audience was over come with emotion even from her fellow nominees. Such a huge miss and blunder. This top ten list probably loses a lot of crediblity with this miss. Yes the others including Fred Rogers are deservedly on the list but to miss Susan Lucci's win is a big loss.
