Small when compared to America and Canada, however when compared to where it is, Jamaica is a fairly large island. Over 200 miles driving end to end and more than 60 miles wide at some sections. It is about the size of the state of Conneticut.

Other exclusive areas with gorgeous homes for the wealthy in the hills of St. Andrew are Chancery Hall (there is not one middle class home in this neighborhood. The houses are a beauty to look at in Jamaica. It is not like in the USA where I am now living , where you cannot change the color of your house living in the sub-division, lol. Those houses are really in Jamaica. I told some friends in the states that I could take them to places in Jamaica where they see abject wealth. Even the regular have some massive houses on family land. I went home a few years ago to bury my mom and stayed at my brother's house in Long Mountain Country Club up in the hills adjacent to Beverly Hills and the house were beautiful...Big-up my born land Jamaica!

Love Jamaica and have been 9 times in 4 yrs - always stay at airbnb not hotels/resorts. So staying in middle class neighbourhods ive noticed few things about majority of Jamaican construction: too much concrete & paved-over land (retains heat), "mcmansions" of ginormous 100 rm homes, rather than clean lines to maximize view, few homes harness winds to cool homes - low ceilings, poorly placed windows, and lack of vegetation. The most stunning home ive been in was up in Blue Mtns bc it was a cabin built in harmony w nature. Jamaica is the most beautiful island ive ever been blessed to see. But pls do take better care of your paradise and stop cutting down trees & vegetation and pls stop polluting it. ✌

On my first visit to Jamaica with my Jamaican wife many years ago, one of her relatives who lives in Red Hills said to me "Jamaica is a poor country, but Jamaicans are not poor."
@JamaicanThingstop104 жыл бұрын
I love that. Something to take note of. But there are some places where the people are desperately in need though. Thank u so much for watching 🇯🇲
@Queensburyheights4 жыл бұрын
@@JamaicanThingstop10 You are quite right. The relative was a businessman who owned two shoe shops in Kingston and saw things from only a very narrow perspective. I know from my own experience of living in Jamaica that whilst there are indeed some very wealthy people living there, the vast majority of people are not wealthy at all and in fact it amazes me how some people even survive. I am very far from being a Marxist but the enormous differences in wealth and poverty in Jamaica are really quite shocking. By coincidence my wife came originally from the Treasure Beach area of St. Elizabeth and we lived close by but after her death I returned to live in the UK.
@oneilchambers19384 жыл бұрын
@@Queensburyheights The vast majority of Jamaicans do not live in abject poverty. You clearly have not traveled enough. There are wealthy Jamaicans, Middle class Jamaicans and yes poor struggling Jamaicans. If you travel to the rural parts, you will find many people who are thriving. Again, I am not trying to dismiss the poverty but thats not what you notice when you go to Jamaica.

@@Queensburyheights you need to know many Jamaican who own land, it's free and clear, and not mortgaged, and many of the people you see selling in the markets, doing nails, have more wealth than many ppl living in the industrialized world, who are working class. Don't assume wealth comes from wearing a suit and tie, or driving expensive cars. Many Jamaicans seem poor yes, and too many are poor, but you cannot look at a person at first glance, and assume they're poor. Many people in the informal sectors do have some money. But we understand your point of view, given the many small cornerside stores, run down homes, etc dotting the landscape across the country. It's expensive living given the salaries paid, and many are getting deeper into poverty..

I have family that’s been living in Cherry Gardens since the 1970s. I’ve lived in Meadowbrook, also on Phoenix Avenue (which is across from Devon House) as well as in Drumblair where I still have relatives, so I think I know a little bit about real estate value in certain quarters. I still maintain that Cherry Garsens real estate is pricier than Beverley Hills.

@JamaicanThingstop104 жыл бұрын
Drone no me love me nuh in Jamaica now. So what I had to do is collect a bunch of videos from KZfaq. Cut and edit then so that they are not the exact same copy as the original so that they don’t get copyrighted or flagged. It’s very technical indeed. And time consuming.
