This particular period, known as the Golden Age of Piracy, threatened international trading from 1680 until 1725. Within that span of time, pirates such as Blackbeard, Henry Morgan, Captain Kidd, and Calico Jack gained notorious reputations for successfully overpowering not only trading ships, but also naval military forces, which cemented their legacy in piracy.

Why do everyone mention Jackdaw, only reason we win is because Ubisoft doesnt want you to die. My choice is The Silent Mary (even though its not a pirate ship). If i have to pick a pirate ship then Queen Anne's Revenge. The Dutchman is not a pirate ship btw.

There was a fleet of chinese essels so powerful and so well commanded that the british, french, and chinese navies went up against it all at once and lost. And had to beg the leader to retire

I'd guess maneuverability and seamanship, after all that's how the smaller ships of the English Navy defeated the huge Galleons of the Spanish Armada back in the day.

Buzzx21 Gamer cept stede bonnet was incompetent. He was far from feared for crying out loud he was the only pirate who ever went to trial that pissed himself on the way their sobbing the whole way. Yeah, the records actually do say yes HE PISSED HIMSELF. Funny how, contrary to popular belief of the "incredible" power of the english and dutch pirates in the Spanish Empire ( all trade routes were controlled by Spain, Spain mantained its empire for 3 centuries nearly intact, only losing meaningless islands to the english and tuch such as Trinidad, or Jamaica. It has always amazed me how Spain, with 10 million inhabitants, mantained such an incredible landmass for such a long period of time. Unmatched by the other european empires, such as the british and french empires, even the portuguese.

The dutchman is in dutch called de vliegende hollander and his captain is called willem van der decken in dutch. In english it is called the flying dutchman (logic) but in english it is also willem van der decken but POTC made it a more known ship and called the Captain davy jones. The original story of the dutchman is that willem went to sea on easter. Look it up on wikipedia.

Captain Kidd! Pirate Hunter turned Pirate! What a first score though! Queen Anne's Revenge was a beast!!! Henry Avery hit that lottery ship and called it a career... that one haul in todays value is equivalent to 108 million dollars. He lived his life out on a Caribbean Island with a awesome palace and had no enemies. His story is remarkable and one of my favorites. The Rising Sun flag was awesome.

At around 6:39 or 4:50 I can't tell on my phone but for the ship the golden hind, the picture of the black ship tied up in a modern day seaside town is Torquay in England. And not only have I been to Torquay on holiday but I have been on that ship in the photo. How awesome

There is one ship missing, the probably mightiest Pirate ship the world ever seen (but unfortunately forgot). The former British second rang ship of the line, with three masts and 96 cannons, originally named "Sea Star", got occupied by mutanity in 1720, from then on she sailed as a pirate under the new name "Sealion". Some years later she got massively reconstructed, better hull, a fourth mast and up to 140 guns, plus two mortars. In 1750 she got to be flagship of the rubiñian fleet.

I was looking for HMS 2nd rate victory that was captured by pirates in the year 1718. And used it against the spanish fleet. But it was supposed to be on the list.

One of the biggest reasons the Royal Fortune failed so heavily is that in the video the commentator say it was a 42 gun w/ 152 crew. That alone makes the ship severely undermanned. For if it was in the British/French/or Spanish navy a 42 gun ship would have around 500 men aboard give or take.
