Technology is not related to size, so your answer is totally invalid. Ships like the Nisshin Maru dwarf these nutshells easily. The biggest fishing vessel in the world for instance, is the Damanzaihao, yet it does NOT operate on the North Sea.

And glad the Damanzaihao was impounded; I think oversize processing ships like her and super trawlers like the Atlantic Dawn are depleting the oceans way too much faster than the fauna itself can recover. Fishing is a way of eating, but too much that's too much, got to give it a break, period.
