Whether you preferred the original FMA or not, you have to admit Brotherhood is amongst the greatest anime of all time. We're looking at all the moments that the iconic cast of Edward Elric, Alphonse, Roy Mustang, Envy, Hoenheim, Winry Rockbell, Scar, Greed, Kimblee and Armstrong, went through surrounding the philosopher's stone, homunculus, and government conspiracy.
We are limiting our picks to the 2009-2010 remake of the anime, which follows the manga series more closely - So keep that in mind when you're watching.

Greed died selflessly sacrificing himself. Lust died to a man Envy committed suicide out of embarrassment of being jealous of humans Pride died in a moment of overconfidence. Y’all need to go watch their 2013 Anime USA panel. Someone asks Travis how he reacted to that scene and how Laura treated him after they recorded it. Their responses are gold (and so is the whole panel, for that matter). There are two vids of the panel by the same uploader (I forget the name but should be easy to find) and their answer to that question is in part 2. :)

While Brotherhood is generally better than FMA, The Shou Tucker moment was better executed in FMA. They spent more episodes with Shou and Nina which made you connect with them more.

I agree that the execution was better in the original. Although I do partially like Ed's reaction more in FMAB. But other than that I agree with you. Plus in the original manga series, Tucker shows up in Chapter 5 and dies... well in Chapter 5. Him and Nina are only there for about 40 pages of the entire series. So I thought it was refreshing to see them more fleshed out in the original anime.

For me the most impacting moment was when they slit Riza Hawkeye’s throat and nearly killed her to try to make Roy Mustang do what they wanted. And afterwards him loosing his eyesight.

That's the problem with this series, there are way too many awesome moments for a great list... 10 isn't big enough... the moment you mentioned would have been great for the top ten too.. but obviously, Ed and Winry admitting their feelings at the end is obviously the best moment.

+TheDeathmail I'd argue the reunion between Ed, Al, and Winry is the best because of the combination of the music, the slow build-up with Winry walking to the door, the framing of the scene, and the torture these boys have gone through throughout both series. Yeah, sure, the confession between Ed and Winry was cute and quite funny, but the best in the series, no.

Oh yeah no doubt it was a great moment. What I like about that scene is that it happened at a realistic and appropriate time. Way too often we see love being made in the middle of battle ,war, adventure, or any dire situation.

Question: Why didn't Mustang get the transmutation circle tattooed into his hand? Seems like it would have been a smart move to do years prior. Edit: I get he needs the spark from the gloves but why not have the tattoo as a backup plan in addition to the gloves. Guess it's so that badass scene can happen

Because the glove he wore served as an ignition source, just like the lighter was an ignition source against Lust. If he tattooed the circle on his hand, he'd still need something that caused a spark to transmute into a bigger flame.

I mean, Lust's death was good, but I'm not sure about number 1 spot. Make that the final battle, or Greed's sacrifice. Or even that embarrassing scene where Ed almost sees Winry changing cause we all remember that one.

I think Roy killing Lust is the definitive moment in the show that made it go from great to damn near perfect. It also makes it one of the most pivotal moment of the series. Showing us that the humacouli can be killed and no matter how hopeless it may seem the good guys still have a chance to win they just have to work their asses off to do it.

Not everything nowadays possess the ability to make their characters and story human and relatable. Not all of them have the depth or complexity. Not all of them are so adept at explaining things well, even if they're quite off the wall. Not all of them can pull the audience in, and keep them...At least that what I've run into.

All depends on how anime studio can replicate the manga version well. The original Fullmetal was good but it wasnt consistent with the manga version. Thank goodness they made Brotherhood to be more closely related to it. They jump heaps and bounds on a lot of things.

My number 1 is in episode 2 when Ed and Al lose their bodies. That scene was so emotional and i've seen in many times already. Ed crying to bring his brother back just has me in tears every damn time.

One of my favorite moments is when Winrey points the gun at Scar. It's only made better by the song playing during the scene. Hearing someone sing the words "Let it all out" while the poor girl is bawling her eyes out is an image that will always stick with me.

How was Greed killing Bido not on this list? Seeing Ling's rage at Greed for killing his friend and denying that Bido was a part of him gave me chills. That and the famous phrase "You turned your back on something you wanted...You don't deserve to call yourself Greed!" and hearing Greed scream in agony as he mourns the death of his friend was one of my favorite moments in the series.

This is far and away one of the greatest animes of all times, ranking with major great milestones. Everything about it was executed in amazing fashion, balancing humor with heartbreak leading to an epic climax. This show still gives me chills to watch.

Would have put the death of Hughes muh higher... It's the pivot that motivates all the characters and advances the plot.

Wan Fu, Brotherhood didn't give us as much time with him as the original, so there was less time to get attached to him, meaning the impact of his murder wasn't quite as big as it was in the original. It's still unjust to put it so low, but the reasoning makes sense. You are right, though. His demise is crucial to the plot.
