In spite of another wild year, many awesome discoveries were made. Which is why today we’re diving into the top 10 best video game discoveries of 2021.
UPDATE TO FNAF:SL SEGMENT 1/8/2022:
The blue screen discovery in the FNAF:SL segment was originally found by FNAF hacker Kostya (still in 2021); additional research cited in the segment was assisted by GBAura-Recharged. Submitter Ashley’s involvement was separate. I have since verified Kostya was the first to have found the screen and deserves the credit for doing so. They haven't been too phased by the omission, but it’s important to me they're both properly recognized for making one of the best video game discoveries of the year. Deepest gratitudes to them both for being so cool about it. - Odd.

The Jar Jar barrel thing was definitely a known Easter egg in the old internet. I always find it super interesting how much stuff like this just disappears and gets redescovered legitimately. I’m SURE this was on an old cheat site or an issue of Tips & Tricks or the strategy guide. I vividly remember being a kid and turning around to try and shoot him after reading about this Easter egg.

Sweet! This is the person that submitted the DreadOut 2 discovery! Seeing this is the best Xmas gift of 2021! Some things I want to clarify/explain though. It was thanks to the youtuber Heuster101 that I was even able to find Buto Ijo 15:14 in the first place. If I hadn't seen one of his videos showing his location I never would have even thought to go there and investigate his basement in the first place. Second it isn't shown in the vid but after killing *(SPOILERS)* The Creature/Siska with the camera it goes into the developer room but past that is some strange cave that isn't really a cave but a ledge that you can drop from and fall into Limbo(a specific location that has more importance later in the map but doesn't do anything when you drop into it except play the music. During the daytime portion if you drop into Limbo it's too bright to see anything but it you go there at night you can see more... including a pair of zombie legs sticking out of the "ground" of Limbo.. I honestly don't know why the hell she is down 16:00 but I just think that maybe this whole location was tied to some old, removed Rubik's Cube item, which also had an achievement tied to it, also removed now. Solve the Rubik's Cube, get access to the sealed door, find this monstrosity... profit? Of course now it is too late to figure out if that was indeed the case but at least that sealed door issue can be circumvented by the wall-glitch. Lastly the program I used to wall-glitch in the first place is Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker. It's easy enough to obtain and works with any Unreal-based game, including DreadOut 2, Samurai Shodown, Scarlet Nexus or even Fighting EX Layer. I'm sure this game and many more have some secrets that need to be discovered! Go out there and make them discoveries!

@@Sushi-jx1xr Limbo is this place here /watch?v=Xb86HVUQYAw . In the first game it is where you go whenever Linda dies and you have to walk to the end of it. In the sequel it only appears during a pivotal scene when Linda dies but you have to talk to a ghost from the first game to get out of it. When you go through the Secret Dungeon in this vid and get fall off into Limbo you actually fall right on top of it rather than into it(at night you can see that you are on top of it). Ironically the "meaty place" near the end doesn't have anything really hidden away to find with the free cam though.

I just finished Dreadout 2 & everything on the video is in the game. The large up-side down face is the final boss you fight after the end credits. The other monsters also appear on the final chapter. The room with all the pictures is in the secret room you find in Siska's house in the basement (2nd to last chapter). You need a key for it but easy to find. And the creature with the cat "Buto Ijo" appears in the prologue that you can play after completing the game. So not really an Easter egg. So everything you see were just placeholders most likely.

If I had to take a guess, I think the butterflies coming from the Warthogs is meant to be like an automatic game break fix. Like maybe the game will crash if too many warthogs are in one place on fire blowing up, so if that ever happens the butterflies come out instead because they might be less intense for the game to handle.

So this is a bigger game let's not compare it to halo 3. Also this is a common thing devs do. Heres a good example. When you get into a car in gta4 most of the cars on the road are similar to the one your driving. The reason why is the game might crash if there 40 different models of cars driving around next to you. So it just substitutes things to save on memory yo avoid crashes.

I'm Indonesian and the mention of Buto Ijo made my face light up. He's a green giant who comes from the story of Timun Mas, or '"gold cucumber." Buto Ijo helps a widow named Mbok Randa to have a child by conjuring a golden cucumber, which when cut open, revealed a baby girl. The catch was that when she turned 17, Mbok Randa would have to marry her daughter back off to Buto Ijo, to which she agreed. They grew close over those 17 years, and Mbok Randa started to regret her deal. So, a few days before Timun's 17th birthday, she decided to visit a wise and holy man on a nearby mountain who gave her 4 bags with magical items that would help her. They contained cucumber seeds, needles, salt, and shrimp paste (random, I know). She gave the bags to Timun Mas and explained everything. When Buto Ijo returned, Timun already had a plan. She escaped from the back door of their house, and the giant was furious. Timun threw the seeds behind her and they instantly grew into full-sized cucumbers. The greedy Buto Ijo ate them all and gave her time to run away. Buto now had more energy to run and started to catch up again, so Timun opened her bag of needles and threw them on the ground. They sprouted into prickly bamboo plants which scratched up the giant's legs and feet, causing him to bleed. Timun used her third bag of sea salt, which made the ground turn into the ocean, and Buto Ijo, who was not a very good swimmer, almost drowned. But he still persisted. He was catching up and Timun used her last bag, which contained the shrimp paste. It turned into a deep swamp of boiling mud. Buto Ijo, full, bleeding, and exhausted, sunk into the mud and the cucumber field, bamboo forest, ocean, and swamp disappeared together. Timun Mas hurried home and celebrated her victory with her mother, where they lived happily ever after. (I spent so long writing this comment, i hope you at least enjoyed it 🥲)

For the music on the McDonald's easter egg, it's possible that the data for the 3D model is too much for the game to handle in engine itself, as the game has to render the games sprites while at the same time trying to keep the 3D model displayed as well.

Sound on the mega drive/genesis console is handeled by a separate z80 processor / ym 2612 sound chip combo that also provides backwards compatibility with the master system. The main 68000 processor can handle the polygon and sprites without much issue so i’m 99% certain that the sound is intentional. If I had to take a guess, it seems like it was a level cut VERY late in development rather than intentional DLC. I always love when developers leave stuff like this in the game that players can discover through clever manipulation. Seriously major kudos for the dude who glitched his way through the map to find it all.

Sorry to say you're both wrong. I can assure you of it as someone who has not only been following the Dreadout series from the very beginning several years ago, but actually bought Dreadout 2 on day one. The game was simply not finished and clearly not tested. It took almost a year of patches just to make the game reliably playable, something a lot of people just don't realise because the fact the game was even out flew under most people's radars. The studio behind Dreadout have been doing stuff like this from the beginning; all three games are littered with clearly unfinished areas and fragments of ideas that weren't complete enough to actually use but they threw in there anyway to pad out the perceived size of the game.

@@coolkevin5433 I'd love to; the issue is almost no one talks about the series or seems to consider it worth devoting time to. It had 5 minutes of fame years ago when guys like Markiplier and John Wolfe played an older version of Dreadout 1, but it never caught on. Fatal Frame itself is a pretty niche series and always has been, Dreadout is basically a super low budget bootleg version of Fatal Frame, so the audience and appeal is even smaller/narrower. The wiki has a fair bit of information about cut and unfinished content if that helps.

The OddHeader community has a knack of/for making the most out of games, which is an amazing quality. And the exact reason as to why saying Genshin is an RPG that appeals to people who like everthing that is free is wildly misleading. I'm happy our man OddHeader got sponsored by them. But do not pay. 6:58 the butterflies could be a reference to the "Butterfly Effect" the player respawning the Vehicles over and over would cause issues with the game further down the later levels to mess up thus implying the "Butterfly Effect". Maybe the butterflies flying everywhere was a way to tell the developers that they have over stepped the boundaries of what the game can do and need to bring it back some.

RE: Homefront. I actually bought the game a few months ago for the sole purpose of unlocking TS2 on it. Took a while to make my way through to level 10 (its not a bad game, just not my sort of thing). I then had to do some research on this as the details are sketchy: You have to enter the codes on one of the levels, not on the level select. Theres additional codes to unlock Arcade and Challenge modes, and a 4th code, but we don't know what it does. Once you reach the arcade in the campaign, you can access TS2 from the main menu, but you do have to reenter the codes every session. Oh and, the TS2 menus are messed up on Arcade/Challenge, so its worth using a guide to figure out what levels you're selecting. Happy hunting!

I once found an odd thing in Goldeneye 007 on the N64 in the Silo map. I was in a doorway that connects two silos to each other and I was looking up while strafing in between the silos while repeatedly pressing the button that opens and closes doors, when suddenly, one half of the silo doors at the top of the silo opened! An empty void was passed it. My guess it's one of many cut features.

I can name a few thing's but nothing as major as what's in the video. There is a portion in the game when you go into the past version of a village and everything has a sepia tone to it. Your character is much younger as well to reflect the change and the area you are in is supposedly on a separate map entirely from the present version of the village... at least that's what they make you believe. It turns out that the past version of the village is on the same map as the present version but it is hidden away in the mountains and it can even be reached in the present via the same wall glitching techniques practiced in this vid. When you are walking into the past version of the village that is hidden in the mountains the camera will even change into that same sepia tone. There is a mansion later in the game where a boss monster is hiding behind a door and if you use a key item it will come out and attack the player. If you use the Unreal Freecam into the room where the monster is located it will be deadass standing there making these horrible noises and the monster itself is very well lit... even though the player would never normally be able to see or hear that! Hell, when the monster attacks you it doesn't even make the same noises it makes when you freecam past the door and look at it. Earlier in the Hospital level the player is left waiting in a room the ghost of one of her friend's basically stalks her and ends up leading her to an elevator. The ghost stands in front of it and when you get a certain distance she will disappear and zombies will surround the area instead. That's all fine and dandy.... but if you were to use a freecam after using the elevator and see where the ghost girl was initially standing before she disappeared... she's there again! Keep in mind that this is an area you can't return to, ever, and yet for some reason she is there again but the zombies that were there are gone again. That's all I can think of off the top of my head but there is probably a ton more weird stuff.
