Beckenbauer over Maldini simply cause Der Kaiser actually won more than he lost. Cannavaro is the 3rd defender to win the Ballon D'or. Beckenbauer twice, and Sammer in 1996. (German defenders are better anyways) Ramos is not a defender. He is a wrestler and his red and yellow card records make him a defensive liability.

Here I'll give you some facts: Sergio Ramos isn't top 10 DEFENSIVELY cb he's a great header. As CB Nesta is better than Maldini. Thiago Silva is top 5 easily.
