It’s hard, since Spider Man rivals Batman in terms of his rogues gallery. He has so many colorful and memorable villains. I mean, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Shocker, Vulture, Venom, Kingpin (yes, he was a big Spider Man baddie before he was Daredevil’s arch-nemesis), The Lizard, Carnage, Electro, Sandman, The Rhino, I could go on. My personal favorite is a tie between Kraven The Hunter and Mysterio.

Willem Dafoe's green goblin has cemented himself as the face of the green goblin. He's like the Heath Ledger joker level of top notch acting of the MCU.

He's my favorite Spiderman villain simply because he was the first movie villain I truly ever rooted for. Sure, I felt sympathy for Imhotep from the Mummy franchise due to his love for Anak-su-mun and the heartbreak over her abandoning him, but he was still too scary and caused too many terrifying deaths for me to want him to succeed. Sandman holds that place in my heart as the first movie villain whom I truly wanted to succeed in his goals..

@@kenterminateddq5311 Okay, calm down. The difference is they are rating these villains off their MOVIE performance alone, not comic, games, cartoons, etc. Only the big screen movies. The list would likely be different if they used other portrayals, which also means villains that weren't in the movies.

They would be if they had more of a mean streak. They were mostly just babying Peter for the films. Like, Vulture didn't even really wanna fight Peter. Compare that to the viciousness of the other villains in the older films. Way more tension.

I absolutely agree with this top 10 list 100%. Doc Ock from “Spider-Man 2” is the most iconic and sympathetic Spider-Man movie villain, and I definitely cannot wait to see him again in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus are still to this day my top 2 Spidey movie villains. I haven't seen NWH yet, *but I'm really excited to see them again.* MCU Mysterio and Vulture are also pretty good, but they still don't beat my favs.

To me is Killmonger and Green Goblin tied at first, given the fact that they have so little screen time compared to Thanos and Loki yet still leaving an impact on the watcher says just how good they are. But if I had to edge it out killmonger actually had a message that may apply outside the context of the film whilst the green Goblin is more of a traditional evil guy (of course he's more complex than that) but he won't challenge the watcher of the movie only the protagonist of the film.

I’m glad Otto Octavius is at #1, not only is a fantastic villains, especially with those mechanical arms, but he also manipulated by them, which is by the end of the film he makes the sacrifice. Can’t wait to see where he goes next when I see No Way Home tomorrow nightZ

Can I say something that's only, like, half-true? Spider-Man is nothing without his villains. Again: only half-true. In the last 20 years, we've gotten three different live action versions of Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland) who have all been varying levels of excellent, and an animated assortment of Spider-Mans (in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) that was just as good if not somehow better. If Spider-Man was truly nothing without his villains, all 10 of those Spider-Man films would be, well, excellent. And while most of them are entertaining, not all of them are excellent. And part of that is because villains are just so, so important to the very fabric of what makes a Spider-Man movie great.🥰🥰🥰🥰

Whenever lists are made about the top supervillains for each superhero, The Joker is pretty much locked at #1 for Batman despite many strong contenders. But Green Goblin, Doc Ock, & Venom always seem to be in a race for Spidey... except on the big screen where Eddie Brock has yet to really make a huge impact as an antagonist. Hopefully, that gets rectified soon.

I was so thrilled that THE Green Goblin appeared in the MCU to revive his rivalry with Spiderman; I was getting board of waiting for a reboot of Norman Osborn and Oscorp. Even Doc Ock made an excellent comeback in the MCU. Nobody can ever live up to the performance of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin.

Certainly Mysterio was literally a great villain simply revealing the identity of Peter Parker, which spawned several consequently several happenings in the MCU and Spiderman movies.

Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin should definitely be # 1. He had by far the creepiest voice, laugh and smile I’ve ever seen on a movie villain. Yes, even creepier than the Joker.

I still love Spider-Man 3. I don't care what anyone says. It definitely has its problems, but it's still a great movie to me. I thought they did New Goblin (apart from the amnesia shtick)and Sandman well.

SM3 was undoubtedly what killed the Raimiverse, but I can remember people comparing it to Batman & Robin and that always felt unfair to me. Sandman was a great character, and it was nice to see Peter and MJs relationship being portrayed more dysfunctionally than the prior films. Of course, Topher Grace was an abysmal choice for Venom and failed to even approach the character of Eddie Brock, but the symbiote suit effects were excellent for the time, and while he wasn’t Eddie Brock, he made a good pass at being a Bizarro Peter Parker.

@Ian Gordon no but to be honest I thought the Spider-Man 3 had venom’s character sort of right but the problem was his height & lack of screen time. The venom movie however got the size & intimidation right but the characters story all wrong (well mostly wrong) but in venom let there be carnage they got his character a bit right with the inclusion of venom having to eat either chocolate or human brains to survive which was actually a thing in the comics & oh boy the post credits scene was awesome. ( though I won’t spoil it for you mate) the only nit pick I had was that Venom was a bit gay.

Green Goblin definitely deserves to be in 1st place. (Spoiler Alert) Even in an alternate universe, he can still get under Spider-Man’s skin and if it wasn’t for Raimi’s Spider-Man, MCU SPIDER-MAN would’ve actually killed him.

Until No Way Home, the MCU Spidey hasn't independently faced any villains with powers. Sure he's fought supervillains alongside other heroes. But up until now his own personal rogues have relied solely on brains and advanced tech.

I've been dying to see Scorpion, Rhino, & Venom in a Spider-Man movie, sure Venom & Rhino appeared in Spider-Man 3 & The Amazing Spider-Man 2 respectively, but they all need the best movie appearances possible, individually, together, doesn't matter, I just want them all in a movie.

I feel like the amount of impact and damage a villain does to a hero's life is what makes a villain great, Goblin does the most damage to Peter's life and puts him to the ultimate test in No Way Home, so Willem's Goblin is definitely is the best in the franchise!

After seeing NWH William DaGoats Green Goblin is the greatest MCU Film villain! His performance absolutely wipes Josh Brolin’s performance! That's the evilest evil possible! Not even Thanos can come close to being this evil! Hopefully we'll see Dafoe play the Joker one day!

I just got back from the no way home premiere and I will say one thing. Expect to have all your expectations blown away. Make them high and they will not disappoint. A 10 out of 10 for me

Dafoe's Goblin is by far my number 1, Doc Oc is a close 2nd. Dafoe gave an absolutely menacing performance in all of his appearances as the Goblin and his latest one was a career defining performance, worthy of an Oscar. The Green Goblin (specifically Dafoe's version) is the most terrifying Spider-Man villain yet.
